We are never tired of boasting that Tamil Nadu is the most developed state in India. But, almost every city, town and village in Tamil Nadu looks extremely filthy and like a garbage dump with piles of garbage at every street corner and with stray, disease-ridden dogs freely roaming about freely in the streets, terrorising pedestrians and schoolgoing children alike. It is significant to note that not one city or town, to repeat, NOT one city or town in Tamil Nadu, is included among the top 20 cleanest towns in India. Even Surat in Gujarat which was once described as a plague ridden city is now ranked as the second cleanest city with Indore in MP ranked as the number one cleanest city in India!
