Lorraine, great tips!!. To get the MT off the paper with out tearing it, can heat the MT at little with hairdryer, and then it will come off nicely(in most cases). There is no fullproof way, but there is nothing worse than masking fluid that won't come off. And yes, packing tape works great, passed on from Canadian watercolorist Gordon Mackenzie, the feel when cutting is more distinct, so can be sure that not pressing too hard . Thanks immensely.

I just purchased a Ruling pen, and I am today years old finding out why it's called "Masking Tape". Lots of good information.

@@lorrainewatry_watercolors I used it along with a new to me, plastic proportional divider and transferred a mountain landscape from my pc screen to keep the sky wash off of mountain snow.

I can save everyone some time: Though I like painting on Fabriano Hot press, I have trouble removing regular masking tape on it. I have to be super careful and use heat to do it. I have used masking tape and lots of masking fluid and never have issues with Arches.

15:56 why wouldn’t use a no.11 exact blade rather than the click one?

The exacto blades would work fine. I just like the ease of breaking off a new blade when I need it.
