Welcome to America! Don't worry. It's normal to feel frustrated at first. Everything is unfamiliar and different. You're in NY so things are going to be more expensive, also America is having a time of price inflation, so costs are even higher. A piece of cotton in the medicine bottole (e.g. melatonin) is normal. It is to fill the inside space, so those tablets won't crack or break!🙂 I hope you'll use your Korean name in the school, though. Many Asians somehow give themselves a foreign name outside of their own countries as if it's cool to have a western name. Wrong! Let me tell you, a non-American (western) name is much more sophisticated, cool, and unique in North America. And I love your Korean name (은경?) Listening to a foreign language all day is exhausting, so take it easy and be kind to yourself! Good luck with your study!
Actually I’m trying to stick to my Korean name and I saw nobody pronounce it correctly by far, which is so sad. My name might be too difficult for Americans. Using eng name is not that because we think it’s cool, but for convenience. I sometimes couldn’t recognize it when someone calls me by my Korean name. So funny 😂
You're very courageous, but be very, very careful. New York is increasingly dangerous nowadays. Don't wander around by yourself. Be aware when entering any area by yourself. Even a lobby or an elevator or a work out room. Trust your instinct: if something doesn't feel right, get to safety. And don't worry about being polite.
