Thank you. I had completely forgotten that I'd chosen fast starting. Even better I selected the boot order and bios menu on start up from Power management Win 7 Ultimate.
Thanks a bunch , I've been trying to get into my BIOS for about a week and your video did it. My trick for finding my BIOS key was to video the 1 second message that flashes on the bottom of the screen during startup and playback frame by frame. Subscribed ! I really appreciate the transcript of your video on your website. Ross
This part worked for me by booting up windows, then pressing the power button for 5-10 seconds, then powering it down and lastly booting it back up pressing the corresponding key F2! Thank you very much I was beginning to wonder if I was ever going to get into the bios at all as I had been at this for a few hours.
On a Toshiba Satellite L655 that zooms past entering bios on startup, instead of pressing just F2 to enter Bios, press and hold both ESC and F2 at the same time as you press the power key. Once you're in Bios, reset 'Boot Speed' from Fast to Normal. This might work on other computers also.
I've been working on several of my computers for the past 2 weeks... I've been trying to fix all kinds of problems... I have a desktop computer that I installed windows 10 on, and microsoft decided to put the boot record on my storage drive .... Every fix to try to separate that drive from the system, from web articles to youtube has been a miserable failure... A bunch of other fixes for various things that I've been attempting in these two weeks, also simply have not worked for me, so when I tried disabling fast boot in windows system settings, as you describe here, I WAS SHOCKED THAT IT ACTUALLY WORKED!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
thank you so so so so much, very much. you saved my life... i was trying to enter that dumb bios for about 1 week until i found this video...turning off the fast startup totally worked for me. thank you so much again. you brilliant guy!
dude r u kidding me, i spent an hour with google trying to deal with fast boot when all i needed to do was follow your first suggestion 'google boot key for your machine'... much more effective than pressing the wrong key or googling for the wrong issue. thank you so much for your video!
Thank you so much! I disabled the camera & microphone along time ago & have an appointment this morning via video conference because of this covid-19 virus pandemic going on. Thanks again & stay safe & inside if you can.
Great tutorial!!! My NVMe SSD gets Win10 to the login screen almost instantly. I am willing to give up a little start speed to be able to get to the BIOS easier. I can get into the bios with fast boot enabled but it's a literal race between my pressing the escape key and the machine starting into Windows.
Brilliant, very much appreciated. I followed the first suggestion on power settings and immediately went into the BIOS settings after a half-hour frustrating search for why the NEC recommended use of the F2 key should get you in - which it stubbornly refused. Now I can proceed to install Linux.
none of these methods work for me, and i cant find any videos or forums thatll help, i dont know what to do beyond this point... someone please help...
*Attention* I don't know how to get the word out but this did not fix my issue. But I did find a way to fix it. I was unable to get into bios at all. Not doing it from windows. Not after removing the battery, or even spamming the bios keys. It would just give me a black screen until I restarted it and booted back into windows. I have a multiple monitor set up. So what I tried was disconnecting all the monitors but 1. And miraculously, it worked. It booted and showed me the motherboard brand and bios key options when I restarted it. I don't know what causes this, maybe the pc is confused about what screen to display the bios on but just having 1 display to get into the bios worked. I hope this helped someone I spent 3 hours of messing with my pc to figure it out..
This worked for me, Thank You. During the first boot of the day I would see the BIOS screen and could get into BIOS. If I let Windows10 load, warm up a minute, restart and tried to get into Bios I wouldn't see the BIOs screen and if I hit Delete or F2 it would freeze the screens black and Windows wouldn't load. Your suggestion worked even on Restart. My Windows must be a newer update or something. At the Power and Sleep screen I clicked on Additional Power Settings on the right of the screen. A new window opens There are options under Choose or Customize a Power Plan. I selected the Recommended option Balanced, I think it was High Performance. Just to the left was the Choose What the Power Buttons Do. Hmmm! I forgot to Save Changes. >
Detto. I think this keyboard works only with drivers (only in Windows startup can you use). Btw try older keyboard (and you have ps/2 port try ps/2 keyboard or have no try older usb keyboard)
Thanks a lot. I tried a forth option based on your suggestions. I disconnected my main battery as it is not accessible and waited for 3 mins. It worked.
Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! The very first option solved my problem and I was finally able to get into the BIOS and make the necessary changes that I needed. Thank You Again!
Thank you very much ! ! I am alessandro falconi from italia . I have an asus f555ld with aptio ami bios and windows 10 home . i had ALREADY entered in the bios via windows (Win+x > settings > update > recovery > advanced startup > restart > troubleshoot > advanced options > uefi > restart ) and once in the bios disabled "fast boot" in the boot menu , but it didn't worked . Your first solution worked perfectly .
I am wishing to get in to the bios, did the shortcut way into bios but then I just get stuck in the screen which tells me all the stuff like F9 and F12 functions
The solution that worked for me was simply disconnecting the display port cable from the GPU and connecting the HDMI to my GPU. The BIOS screen finally appeared with this simple switch. I did this after trying everything in the video.
Thank you. I did everything in this video and still didn't work. But I realised my lap had internal battery connected all time when disconnecting and reconnecting CMOS. Disconnected both lap battery and CMOS cell and restarted and BIOS worked.
Here’s what I discovered. My whole screen is blank after restart, and I could not get into the bios despite pressing the F12 keys many times. I found out the reason is because I use the high end 4K HDMI cable for my 4K monitor. After I replace the cable with an ordinary HDMI ones, I could see the Dell logo after I restart. I immediately press F12 key and boooomm....the bios screen pop up...😂😂😂. So for those who use 4K monitors with 4K hdmi cable...replace it with ordinary ones before you attempt to get into the bios. FYI...bios screen are not upgrade to 4K resolution yet in 2020 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Anyway thanks for the great tutorial.
my laptop lenovo g580 when i press f2 respond and tell me please wait but did not open and continue booting then windows start did you have any idea how to solve that.
For those who using older sony vaio laptop: 1. Turn off your laptop and do not turn it on! 2. Find the assist button and press it 3. Find enter bios setting then press it You're now done
Do you have multiple drives attached to your PC? If so, the boot order could be messed up. (I.e. it's trying to boot from a drive that doesn't have windows installed on it). Usually changing the boot order in the Bios would solve the problem. But in the short term, disconnecting all drives, other than the one containing windows, should at least get you to the OS.
For those that this doesnt work for check which USB port your keyboard is plugged into, if its in the USB3 port (blue) try it in USB2 port (black) thats what worked for me.
I managed to get into Bios by disabling the fast starting method. Then I changed the boot order to give the USB priority, wihch got confirmed on the screen. Pressed F10 for save and exit. It still booted up in Windows10. In the USB port was Linux Mint OS at the time. I need more Help.

I wish there was a standard where manufacturers put an artificial one second wait before booting so you can go into the bios if you want to.
I couldn't enter bios or my PC, having an older keyboard saved me in the end and I fixed the boot priority. Thanks.
