Hello IT Pros,
If the method in the video doesn't work, do the next:
- Use another charger and try again.
- Disconnect the battery, (it's no necessary to take it out), then press the power button for 10-20 secs, with the battery disconnected and with a working charger try to power it on.

- If the above steps didn't work and you are sure the charger is working. I would say that there is an issue with the motherboard. In that case it's better to replace it. Check the warranty for your device, most manufacturer have a 1 year warranty.

Yesterday I shut down my Chromebook while it was charged and then when I tried to turn it on it wouldn't so I assumed that the battery was drained so I charged it and tried again but nothing happened and then I came across this video and it worked!!

It didn't even want to charge, although I know it had plenty of battery left but I tried to charge it anyway. I did what you said, press refresh for 3 and tap the power button, and it came on as soon as i tapped the power button. Thank God it didn't get rid of any of my information. I got a chrome book recently, and I plugged it in to charge it. The light indicates it’s charging but it won’t turn on. I’ve tried the hard reset and it didn’t work either.

What i would try next is to connect the CB to an external monitor to discard screen problems. If that does not work I would carefully remove the battery, press the power button for 10-15 seconds and try again. If nothing works, most likely there is a problem with the motherboard which may need to be replaced....

Hold the esc refresh and power button for 5 secs the press ctrl-d the enter then enter again
Teo so hold the power,esc,and refresh button then after 5 seconds your screen will say Mac OS damaged or something but then click ctrl,d at the same time. Then you want to press enter then press space, then enter then it will reboot ur computer then you’re good just sign in and put in the WiFi and yeah

I know this video is really old, BUT IT WORKS! I have one of these Chromebook’s for school except it’s a touch screen one, and it stopped working in my 7th period class (I’m a high schooler and my Chromebook is super important b/c most of my work is online) so I got super scared that I would have to go to my schools tech guy (I never know when he’s in the building) BUT THANK GOSH that this video was here!

My chromebook turns on sometimes but for a split second and it shows a light when I put it on the charger and the light blinks when it's not on the charger it's just that the screen wont show anything

Hello Kelley,
Most, if not all, brands have 1 year warranty on their products. Look for the serial number somewhere on the case and go to the manufacturer's website. In my case I normally use Dell or HP, look for something like support or technical help and it will ask you to type the serial number, with that you can call or email them.
A faster way in the case of Dell and HP is:
go to google.com, type the model like in this example: "Dell Chromebook 3100 warranty check" press enter and it might, again depending on the manufacturer, give you the direct link for you to type the serial number.

Tried to close the laptop after you did the reboot. I did the reboot many times and it didn't work, then I just simply close the laptop and open again, and it power on.

Thanks for posting! I have a HP Chromebook that wasn't turning on. After seeing your video, I held down the reset button (above numbers 3 and 4), then held down the on button for about a second and the laptop fired up! I didn't have do anything with the usb port.
