I will NEVER forget it. Kids today had no idea who Cristianow was, and the level of genius he had. And nowadays it pisses me off how many people repeat like a broken record the lie that Cristiano is just hard work, while Messi is only talent. This is nonsense. To climb to the absolute top of the elite level, world-class football, and do all that Cristiano did in this sport, you always need these two things: hard work plus talent.
Many players work hard every single day but they will never be Cristiano because they don't have talent, and at the same time some have all the talent but are lazy, and they won't be Cristiano either. Cristiano had it all, plus he was insanely handsome and with the level of charisma I've never seen before or since. Especially his 2006-2009 era was smth else. Forget Messi, Maradona, or Beckham, no one of them had a full package like Cristiano did back then: talent, work ethic, ambition, crazy mentality, media potential, looks, and popularity. Cristiano had it all at once, while Beckham, Maradona, or Messi - each one of them had just a few of these things, but never all of it, like Cristiano.
This is why it's important to remember Best's quote because so much crap is talked about Cristiano nowadays by foolish kids who weren't even born when Cristiano was already a star, and they have no idea about football. It takes one to know one, Best, in this one quote, described all that Cristiano was and had: his immense talent, his amazing physicality, his ambition, his fighting spirit, and his football abilities. Cristiano through the years was a genius winger, midfielder, striker, he absolutely dribbled great when he was younger, he did insane runs on the wing, had a brilliant cross, was brilliant at freekicks, and he did it all with two legs!! Cristiano maybe the first player ever who doesn't have a 'weaker leg', if you look up his numbers!
Haaland and Mbappe are great for the modern era, but this is why all they do is just run and score - because the modern game is all about athleticism and results. Cristiano had all of that and more and played joga bonito, he was a showman with countless tricks in his arsenal. You won't see Haaland or Mbappe doing it at all. Vinicius or Bellingham are also amazing, but again: they don't have it all, like Cristiano did. From an even bigger perspective of time, people will see even clearer than today, that Cristiano, was and is, a completely unique player, one that comes once in a lifetime.

Finally, after so many years, someone uploaded this game. I tell you a story: once upon a time, there was a young guy so broke (me) who had cable but couldn't afford sports channels. One day, like magic, I was finally able to activate sports channels. It just happens that the first game I see was the game shown in this channel. I am originally from South America, and I was so excited to finally be able to watch the premier league. Then, while watching and reconizing Van Nistelrooy, Forlan, and the rest, out of the blue, this kid shows up for substitution: Ronaldo. Once in the pitch I was like..wow...he is levitating and so light and quick ...wait! Is he Brazilian? But I know every single Brasilian player ... where is he from? Who is he? Then, the whole world of the internet took me to continue seeing one of the greatest players of all time. So, yes! The first game I was able to watch live on TV was Bolton Wonders vs. Manchester United on August 16th, 2003, thanks to a nice girlfriend who started paying my bills 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂.
