Dizzy describes composing Manteca with Chano Pozo. "It was similar to a nuclear weapon when it burst on the scene. They'd never seen a marriage of Cuban music and American music like that before."

Thanks for the history, but the tune played by the band on film didn't quite match the audio, as there was a tenor solo and the visual was of an alto player! Minor quibble aside, a good slice of jazz history. Thanks! : ^ /
