I really think Anna was his first true live but because of her death it changed him to the man he is today for Stella his soul mate
He was in love with Stella since season 4 long before Anna was dreamed of in the writers head
I think that even though Kelly loved Anna in his own way. But Kelly still had that look in his eyes when would be talking to Stella like he does now. When Anna die then Brett tell Hope that since Kelly being sleeping his way though Chicago. Also think that Kelly feeling for Stella didn't go away when Kelly was seeing Anna. Plus Anna felt that there was something about these two. That why Anna ask Stella was her and Kelly together when Stella went to the hospital to visit her.

Severide's the very definition of a Broken Ace.
He's probably the most diverse firefighter in 81. He's as physically fit as anyone, has lead squad for over a decade, is 81's best investigator, and is their best in a brawl (aside from Boden, in theory, since Boden's an ex-Navy SEAL). And, of course, he was a ladies' man until he married Stella.
Of course, Severide also has his issues with his dad and women and doesn't handle loss well, all of which partially explain his and Stella's occasional rough patches.
I know Boden was Navy. When was it said he was a seal?

I found Chicago Fire, thought it was the best thing on Netflix and it was taken off. Love Kelly Severide and all the other actors in this wonderful show. Please push Netflix to put it back on, as so much of the Netflix content is absolute rubbish

When Kelly told Violet that he felt like a boat cut away from a dock was what he told Casey when his father died nothing to do with Anna and when he told her he felt like he had nothing to hold on to ,was what Emily Foster told him about her mother dieing , when he was in the hospital after the chimney fell on him , that was when Bennie died , again it had nothing to do with Anna dieing , when Anna died he went and helped an old woman move and stood in a window almost had tears in his eyes , that was it , there was no grieving , and why they made that episode with him going to Violet , telling her all that crap , when it happened when Bennie died , not Anna , two episodes later he let Kidd move in with him and the next day he was sleeping with Hope , the whole episode made me sad , that the writers had to try make us believe Kelly was grieving about Anna and he was going to drop his curtain of steal that he has about his feelings , and shares with no one except maybe with Stella , and is going to Violet to make her feel better , that's not happening with the real Kelly Severide
He gave Some very good good advice to Violet when she was grieving Hawkins death,, I almost cried on that episode when he died in the line of duty..
What you said is so true and plus Casey is the one that when to him about coming back to work after Shay death. But with Benny death is when he had the harder time dealing with and not Anna death. Kelly did care a lot for Anna and thought about moving to Springfield to be closer to her but after talking with Stella about it Kelly decided against it. Kelly has always loveth Stella. Kelly even tried his best to fight his love for Stella along time only thing he couldn't .

Fire Fighter than Casey was . Casey was quite often a spoiled brat & always enjoyed throwing his rank in Severide's face which got seriously old ! Casey was a good fire fighter.

SO AS FAR AS IM CONCERNED HE'S A LOT BETTER OVERALL FIRE FIGHTER,OFI INVESTAGATER+ A GOOD ASSISTANT TO THE PD PEOPLE ON CATCHING CRIMINALS ALSO NOW Which is a lot better than Casey was and trust me Casey has also had his fair share of different women other than Dawson+ Brett
So honestly Casey hasn't always been perfect either especially in his relationships problems with different women. And honestly some of us hasn't really missed Casey very much.

Of all the characters in the show, he is the most rough around the edges, least sensitive, and most closed off. He does his job as rescue squad captain and he does it well, he is a good person, but he plays the "bad boy" trope to counter Casey. He basically the iron man to Casey's captain America.
