It's hard to do this and sooo easy to screw it up and drain your ball.

As someone who used to do this a lot when I was a teenager, I can definitely say that this is something either you have or you don't.

      A little training, that's all.

This really isn't true about this or anything really. I've been a musician for over 20 years. Anyone can train themselves to do anything that's skill based.
The problem with this is that because it's pinball you don't have any good way to truly practice and drill it in. You just have to start trying to do it in an actual game which is not the best way to practice anything.
If you actually own a table what you can do and what a lot of players do from what I understand is open the glass and place a ball manually into position then release the ball and try to do the catch. Start with smaller distances then gradually increase the distance and then do the same for any angle you want to learn to catch from.
It's tedious obviously but most practice for anytuinf basically is. It works better and faster if you can get someone to help you by standing there and dropping the balls for you that way you can concentrate on the catch.

@@jackcoleman1784 As someone who has seen and played a lot of pinball, I totally disagree. You need to have good hand-eye coordination and that's something you're born with. I didn't need to practice this move when I started doing this move, I just saw someone else do it and then I did it. I played at arcades so I've never owned a machine. In recent times though, there are arcades that allow you to pay a flat rate and then you can practice all you want by playing machines over and over. If you have great hand-eye, you don't have that spin up the flipper as this guy does, you can just catch it. Watch some of the world championships on youtube and you'll hear them say that some of these type of moves are considered expert maneuvers.

@@garysimard5674 Hand to eye is literally not something you are either born with or not dude. Look it up. It's a skill/ability that can be learned and improved. If you have eyes that work, hands that work, and no disorder with them, your brain, or your nervous system you can improve hand to eye coordination.
Most sports are literally about learning proper use of and improving use of hand to eye coordination. You don't start able to hit specific pitches in baseball or able to accurately throw a pass a long distance in football. It's acquired through practice.
Just because you didn't successfully learn this skill doesn't mean that you couldn't have. It just means you didn't succeed but don't try telling others that they can either do it or not simply because you couldn't because that's literally not true. All that does is possibly cause someone to quit instead of perserving when they can't do it. Which is exactly what you did.
No one is born able to do something that requires a high level of skill they have to learn it and failure is a part of that. You owe it to yourself to try again and not give up. You do you though.

What is the difference between this and a live catch?

    • @maciejjanuszewski4398

It does bouncing the ball back and giving some gravity momentum to make quick shot but live catch stops momentum instantly and does not bounce the ball

If you are any good, you should be able to stop the ball almost dead on the flipper with a catch.

It ofc depends on the angle, the speed and the spin you're gonna receive the ball. Contrary to the examples in the video here, you're usually gonna have the flipper with which you're gonna catch the ball, elevated for a longer time. It's unnatural to wait for a catch and to flip only shortly before you're then gonna release the flipper again. Have it up and then concentrate only for the perfect time to release it.
