A wonderful collection for young pianists who need to keep things easy and yet begin to spread their interpretative wings. It was good enough for mighty Michelangeli to play, so why not for the rest of us? Yet this too is the work of Schumann as much the older man: depressive, syphilitic, with only his love for Clara left unsoiled. Am I being fanciful in hearing the shadow of a lifetime's pain, pathos and disappointment seeping through? Pedalling, shade and nuance is what lifts an adult's reappraisal above the nippers'.

Enchantment! One of the great benefactors. Belongs with other gifts to humanity, young and old, such as Robert Louis Stevenson's "A Child's Garden of Verses", Lewis Carroll"s "Alice" writings, Mozart piano pieces. Works that delight us as children , teach and support us as adults and give us solace and peace as we near the end of our journey. Thank you.
Not demanding on the ear. Easy to fit in the busy background of your life. His music is a poem and has been inspired by poetry. Lyrical ideas interwoven with genuine simplicity.

A little Aperçu has fascinated us so much - and initially made us disbelieve - that we wanted to find out immediately: Schumann, says Grünewald, was a figure that you could quite reinstall as a youthful role model today - among others because he wore an earring. Schumann? Earring? But actually - a Schumann portrait by Johann Friedrich Klima, which can be admired in the Schumannhaus Bonn, provides the proof: the left ear glitters golden. What does that mean? Sure, in the picture, Schumann was adolescent 29 years old, so was it a late youthful sin? In the early nineteenth century, of course, the men's earring had little to do with youth culture, especially as there was nothing like a trend phenomenon in that sense back in the days. Rather, with the French Revolution, besides the trousers of the sailors, their earrings also seem to have become socially acceptable as a demonstrative sign of revolutionary sentiment. It can be attributed to the French example that earrings were worn in all classes around 1810-1850 in Germany as well. Robert Schumann - a bourgeois revolutionary? Well, a musical revolutionary in any case! Freely translated from German Source: 2012.schumannfest.de/category/uber-schumann/ I didn't knew this as well...
When I was teaching the piano to children I found the albums by Bach, Schumann and Bartok still a bit difficult, so I composed my own album which was a bit easier.- The great philosopher, composer and associate of Alban Beg's took the trouble to orchestrate 6 of these pieces. In the piece Mai. lieber Mai. for example. there is. under the pretty melody a hidden motive of three ascending notes. Adorno's orchestration brings this out with the colour of a different instrument and this recurs in various forms. A pianist should be aware of them and bring them out. The loveliest pieces come from 'may sweet May' but I would definitely leave out the War Song. A remarkable selection of pieces all the same.

Clara was the love of Brahms life - some of his most beautiful works were the last ones he wrote in memory of Clara - his Intermezzios. Clearly something they could make a movie about
