- Mario Kart 8's 5th wave of DLC is making a splash this summer, bringing back a fan-favourite track from the Wii- Koopa Cape! I could spend awhile complaining about how they butchered the underwater pipe section, but I'm just happy it's here and the tunes are as boppin' as ever. Hope you guys enjoy this slowed down and unique interpretation of the iconic theme!

The shading on the wiggler's head and the lines under the Magikoopa's goggles makes me think he's in a life-or-death chase, which could very well be true given the hijinks in an average Mario Kart race

Already I’m liking the different pace in comparison to the original. Sounds like it could fit for a stage in a game like Odyssey.

@@gowildler Well yeah, that too, but the tempo gives the song a similar vibe to me as Bob-Omb Battlefield. I'm moreso talking the energy of the song than anything else.
Edit: Okay, so the BPM to this song is somewhere around 105bpm to B-OB's bpm of ~113. It's not as similar as I thought, but still close enough for me to justify that similarity in my mind.

why are they so terrified?

To me, only Kamek appears to be terrified. Which makes sense, given the two individuals directly behind him.
Wiggler looks more like he is about to attack Kamek, given how his arm is outstretched towards him, and how the eyes are cloaked in darkness(occasionally used as a way to foreshadow imminent violence.)
And while it does look like Petey is afraid at first glance, you must remember that he is a piranha plant, and as such, has no eyes. Those are actually just spots above his mouth, and as such, have no relation to any emotions. Ignore them, take a close look at the mouth, and you will see that he appears angry.
TL;DR - Kamek is terrified, Wiggler might be about to kill the Magikoopa, and Petey is mad that Nintendo woke him up for a racing game.

The art here is so good, man. It's funny how Kamek, Wiggler, and Petey are all frightened in this image. Probably going too fast in 200CC.

Another great remix, the different pace to it is definitely an interesting way to take it. Also really like the art. Makes me feel like moments before this, Kamek Wiggler and Petey were having a fun time and then a Bob-omb drops in front of them, to which they immediately get shocked expressions.

this is such a groove, Mario Kart is always such a fun experience because even if you're not a Nintendo person (like me) you can still understand and enjoy the simple happiness that comes from throwing explosives and bananas at turtle-like creatures, plumbers, and now mutant plants while playing as a literal child going extremely fast in a race car through the middle of a mall

I'm gonna be honest here. I've never really liked the steel drums in general. But I've gotta admit; I actually really like how they're used in this remix. Koopa Cape is one of my favorite, if not my favorite, Mario Kart track and I can confidently say you more than did its theme justice.
