Why do we get teary-eyed over the loss of Jimmy Buffett? Because in spite of being a "celebrity", a business tycoon, and a literal icon, he was a genuinely nice person who you always felt like was your friend. And I feel like I lost a friend.
Jimmy was special. One of the few that put his money where mouth was. Save the Everglades, Save the Manatees, Save the Reefs an many more organizations he funded. Hope he found his salt shaker. R.I.P Jimmy❤❤❤

Thank you for this. I was born and raised in Florida, still here after 50 something years . Jiminy has been important to me for almost my entire life. We're really going to miss him.
I was on a beach in Hawaii around 1980-1981 learning to play guitar when a guy walked into the little pavilion I was sitting in. He showed me some scales and told me some stories. I recognized him having collected his albums since 1974. I never told him I knew who he was. I was honored when he played this song for me on my Takamine acoustic I was trying to play I will always treasure that memory. 😊
Thank you guys for reacting to this song. This has always been my favorite Buffet song. The lyrics are so good. He was in a genre of his own. He will be missed but his music will live on forever.
The first Buffet song i ever heard was on the radio when i was 18 years old working a summer job pumping gas at a full-service gas station in 1974. The song was Come Monday. Made me a fan for life. In 2009 at 53 years old my daughter took me to a Buffet concert in Nashville TN for a birthday present, I defiantly got wasted in Margaritaville. THEY TELL ME I HAD A GOOD TIME. LOL
Thanks for sharing this. I love Jimmy Buffet but have heard this song. Idk how that happened. Beautiful. He was young when I was. An American Icon. My husband’s from Hawaii. I lived there for several years. Jimmy performed at the Waikiki Shell, an outdoor venue. This makes me think of my time there. South Florida must be paradise. We were all talking about his many talents and friends and family who kind of grew up with him. We’ll really miss him. He has a restaurant in my city. Will try to visit it soon.
So sad to hear of Jimmy Buffett just passing away. He was a great singer-songwriter, musician & actor. His songs have such a laid back island feel to them. I had a couple of his albums. He had a lot of hits especially in the 70's-80's such as "Margaritaville", “Son Of Son Of A Sailor”, “Fins”, “He Went To Paris”, “Cheeseburger In Paradise”, "Come Sunday", “One Particular Harbor”, “Changes In Latitudes, Changes In Attitudes”, “Volcano”, “Boat Drinks”, “Pencil Thin Mustache” etc.
His summer concerts were legendary and a rite of passage for a generation and later, their kids joined them to the party. Ironic & sad that he passed on Labor Day weekend, the end of summer. RIP JB
You are spot on about the effect Jimmy's music had on his many fans. I became aware of Jimmy Buffett in the 1970's and I have followed him ever since. Sadly, he is now gone, but his music will forever live within us. I am now 71 and still a 100% parrothead. Rest in Paradise Jimmy - Fins Up! - 🦈🦜🍔🏝🏴☠
Before watching this reaction I had just listened to this song for the first time about 20 minutes before and I loved it along with several others. I find his songs so easy to like.
This is the first time I've come across your channel and I am now a subscriber. This is the most heartfelt tribute to one of the few I consider truly genius.. and that's saying a lot for my boomer generation which is full of great singer-songwriters He inspired at least one group of us from Nashville to strive for that Island lifestyle.. He is already missed and will be remembered forever. I passed his music on to my children and will pass it to my grandchildren too.
This is my favorite song from MR JIMMY BUFFETT A PIRATE LOOKS AT FORTY . THANKS FOR DOING THIS REACTION TO IT . Maybe some time soon you All could do a reaction to A Cowboy IN the Jungle from him. Thank You Jimmy Buffett ( RIP )Sail Away IN TO THE SUNSET.
This was an important song to me growing up and on into adulthood. "Arriving too late" especially, when I felt out of place. He wrote some songs that were true story's about himself. Come Monday is one of them. He wrote it for a girl he later married in 1977 and up until the day he died.
My grandma lived in Key West back in the days when Jimmy would busker down on Duval St, usually near Sloppy Joe's. She'd put a dollar in his case everyday as she walked downtown to work at a local gift shop. She said he was a sweet boy that would make her laugh. RIP Jimmy. My G'ma luved ya
Jimmy was well known for his "fun" songs like "Margaritaville", "Cheeseburger in Paradise", "Fins", and "Why Don't We Get Drunk and Sc**w". But he was a great songwriter who could tell a deep story with his lyrics. Songs like "A Pirate Looks at Forty", "Son of a Son of a Sailor", "Come Monday", and "He Went to Paris" are what I think of when think of him.
RIP Jimmy "He's somewhere on the ocean now that's where he oughta be With one hand on the starboard rail he's wavin' back at me" (from The Captain and The Kid) I recall sailing down Biscayne Bay with my son- Pirate Looks at 40 blasting from the stereo... my theme song... I'm near 80 now... my son's nearing 50 and we're both Parrot Heads
I've seen Jimmy 3 times. He always put on a laid back and fun show. My G'ma lived in Key West. She'd put a dollar a day in his case as she walked by him buskering on her way to work at the local gift shop on Duval St. She said he was a sweet young man

The Pirate King who figured out a way to live a life full of adventure 200 years too late and the ringmaster of his own traveling circus of Coral Reefers who brought fun and joy whenever they pulled into town. Fins Up Parrotheads! Godspeed Jimmy. We're gonna miss you.
It's a shame that Jimmy had to die to get the credit he so justly deserves. I've been shouting for years to get all these reactors to play his music. But I've never totally ignored. But now they all want to be on the boat
Vegas is a soul-destroyer. (you're both smart; you know that.....opt for island life while you're still in your prime. "Come Monday" and the unique was; imho; genuine.I left the Norteast ...found an old wooden sailboat for about the same as $100 Pick-up truck' a truly deep catalogue that is so much more thanMargaritaville.
lol not a single one of you in the comments have listened to his music in the past twenty years, and you know it. It's rare that his music has even been played on the radio. That's reality.
The world feels a bit empty now. Jimmy's life was a movie script from the beginning. His grandfather was a ship captain, his dad born on that ship in Havana bay. Grew up in Mobile, AL. And we were so lucky that jimmy was such a wonderful story teller. I do not get emotional over entertainers, but this is different. He made the crowds feel like they were his friends and boy did and do people love him.
Thanks for all the memories Jimmy. Paradise awaits.

Saw Jimmy 18 times in Cincinnati over the years. Always a good show. He always sang without his shoes on
Thank you for this. I was born and raised in Florida, still here after 50 something years . Jiminy has been important to me for almost my entire life. We're really going to miss him.
I have always loved Jimmy Buffet but it wasn't until I turned 40 that I appreciated this song. He will be missed but never forgotten.
Loved Jimmy. We would go see him every year. This is a hard hit.
KNEE DEEP!!! With Zac and Jimmy is one of my favorites
My all time favorite poet. RIP Jimmy

Was so blessed to work backstage at one of his concerts, and he was so humble and so kind and cool af, and this is my favorite song by him❤
I literally just got back from Key West, a couple of hours ago. The locals there are devastated. R.I.P. Pirate. Enjoy your Cheeseburger in Paradise!
RIP Jimmy you made a lot of people happy

It's more than that for many.

The Eagles played at his 2nd wedding, and Paul McCartney came to his house last week and played for him while he was in hospice. What a musical life.
you know you are the star's star when the Eagles play at your wedding and your wake.

I totally agree, love that steel drum sound.
Jimmy has so much more than margaritaville and cheeseburger in paradise. 40-50+ years of music has produced some amazing songs

As a Florida boater for over 45 years, I’d say we all knew his songs by heart. That pic is me holding a tiller on my old sailboat.

From a late blooming Parrothead, thank you for this video.
Zac Browns collaboration with Jimmy is Knee Deep. He also has a great song in the Jimmy vein - Toes.

One of his later songs needs to be be reviewed. Big Time Under the Big Top.
And everyone who loved him will tell you the same thing
Dude, I like your instincts and your style. I just subscribed!
I would strongly suggest you listen to his song come Monday it's one of my favorite songs
Been my go to music to make me believe life is OK.
His Margaritaville restaurant in Chicago was on a boat that when he passed it was untied from the pier and burned in lake Michigan.
The Universe took Jimmy but gave us Zack. Excellent Artist. My collection of JB CD's will remain dust-free...
He may be gone.
But his music will last forever. And there's plenty of others that are ready to pick up the torch and light the way to paradise
He was a great author check out his books tales from margaritaville and where is Joe merchant both books a great read
