2:09 "This being a rear wheel drive car means that it's always pushing from the rear"
Hello there Murray, nice to see you here
I still don't know how you can commentate so much and drive so well. I can commentate very little while driving. I have to focus.
Talking out what they’re doing or goong to do help some people focus, im like that when i play a high speed stage or gt sport
I drive better when I'm talking to someone I don't know I guess because the driving becomes subconscious and you don't over think it much
You might want to try to pour the coffee into yourself rather than on yourself. That might help.
The Ford escort is just really really iconic it's very difficult to not spot one in any open rallies
My preference is the RS2000 with the droop snoot - but I'm a bit weird...
Come to New Zealand, there's still a few Original BDA's still showing up to Historic sprints etc.
My dad used to own the rs2000 with the droop snood he tuned it and it had around 170 hp sadly I never seen it or driven in it becouse it got stolen somewhere in 1990
Bet they're going to pull a half-life & Never make a third game.
Dirt Rally 2.24 / 2.5 / 2.75
Considering they are making insignificant changes between releases, their will be 6, 7th and 9
10:39 just over nine minutes 8.57. Jimmy this is james.
Would be great to see some Irish rally stages, whether it's the narrow, high-speed tarmac stages, or some of the twisting forestry rally stages that the championships do. It'd be a proper outing for this car - if you watch any Irish rally highlights programme, it's full of Mk IIs, and then when there's an historic rally, it's full of Mk Is. Very popular series of car in Irish rallying.
This guy's keeping and lecture while driving and driving good while i can't even cough without hitting a tree right after
Having to force myself to learn how to drive this car in career, it actually made every other car in the game almost trivial to handle. Love it.
Awesome driving! My strategy is go fast, use wall to correct car position =D
Is it me or does this mic make it sound like he's in a top gear episode reviewing a mega fast car? Love it.
Seeing this gives me hope, you're by far one of the best on UA-cam when it comes to sim racing. And it shows, but knowing even you make small mistakes makes all us plebs feel better lol. Keep it up Jimmy. Hope to see you on the real track soon
Really glad you've covered the Mk2 Escort Jimmer, my favourite rally car of all time. It was the only car I drove in the first DiRT Rally and cannot wait to try it again in DR2.0 👍
Awesome content once again. Keep it up 👊👍
The group B Quatro is one of the most fun car in the game imo, it loves going sideways. The mitsi lancer group A is an absolute blast too
Just subscribed to your channel (for the second time).
I'm new to all this but I'm learning a ton from watching you and others on the Sim.
New or not, seems to me your pedal technic is spot on.
Talking and wheeling the car while listening to pace notes is a class all in itself.😂👍
This game has been tons of fun. All of the cars have their own little things about them that makes you want to drive them. Loving it!
This car is so hard on the controller!! But this car in NZ was amazing!! Keep it up Jimmer!
I was just driving this thing through New Zealand and Poland and i was surprised! Had so much fun!! Thrilling stuff. My new favorite with 205 t16.
If you changed gear slightly early (don’t redline it) since the power band is falling there so the power is higher early in the slightly lower revs
I have noticed the same. But i like to rev it instead of upshifting just before corner, just because
Pelleministeri I agree as it reduces speed before a corner so it’s pointless the change gear before the corner cause you’re just going to have to changing back down again
@@Mk1man1 depends how far away from the corner you are, sometimes staying in the gear is beneficial. sometimes shifting up (like from 2nd to 3rd if you're a couple of hundred metres before a hairpin) then back down is considerably faster. but yeah redlining is pretty pointless unless you're trying to keep consistent speed while sliding through a corner (and sounding cool, obvs)
Sam Fine I am agreeing with you that’s what I was trying to say just couldn’t get the correct words
Depends on your gear ratios. Engineering Explained has a great video on it. Think it's called "When should you shift?" or something
The escort is so fun with full rotation on the wheel. You find yourself dancing with the car through the stage. So definitely recommend 900 degrees rotation personally.
I actually started playing this game recently, and for some reason this is the second car on my list when I go to select (assuming cos it's GOTY).. so I thought I'd try the H2 CMR Escort as my second car.
This was like trying to teach a dog to fly an F22.
sup 2years to late, but dude the car is a workout holy shit. impossible to control. but i finally figured it out. but this car is imo the hardest car to drive fast. it's so unpridictiple in most stages. as the short wheel base makes the car spin out of nothing. and it never goes straight.
Just done my first season with the mk2 escort - absolutely loved it.
If you can't have fun in a sim then why so many people are doing it? What's the reason behind having favourite cars to drive other than them being fun to drive? :)
Nice video Jimmy, looking forward for more Dirt Rally content
I’d love to see you run the Porsche GT4 rally through a stage or two! Keep up the EXCELLENT content Jimmer!
This is absolutely first class commentary! Liked and subscribed.
The Opel Adam is actually GLORIOUS
I love the Escort. For me it's the fastest way out of the first corner and into the first tree. Really enjoying it.
I used the Stratos for this purpose, looks like a jet, so perfectly fitting, although not made for driving fast over wet surfaces, ouff!
The Ford Escort is still very popular in NZ rally stages incidentally. They probably make up nearly 10% of the 250 or so cars we get going through our local rally here in coastal Otago each year. I wish CM would choose that rally next time they put NZ stages in a DiRT Rally game. It's similar to Hawke's Bay in that it's quite fast but a little different. One thing that is similar actually is how the Ocean kinda emerges over the road. It's quite nice when it's not raining.
The GT Rally cars, particularly the 911, are awesome fun. The 911, you can really feel the rear engine pendulum
Loving every murderous second in the company of that thing. Also any Porsche on gravel is a fabulous, hypnotic unicorn trailing rainbows.
I learned the left foot braking & “turn right” before turning into the curve, thing when I was about six or seven when I raced quarter midgets.
My grandfather, who maintained my cars (I had two, one as a back-up) referred to it as entering the corner high & cutting in low.
He used to take me to Midget, Sprint & Outlaw races from as early as I can remember. I used to watch the drivers & their cars, especially the wheels as they drifted through the turns.
It helped me when I started racing. Most kids in my bracket (divided by ages) put the brakes on as they entered the corners. I didn’t. I started high, cut in low & tight, worked my throttle & front wheels, as the rear of the car swang around part way, & thengave it full throttle coming out of the turns.
😊👍🏻
I was blowing kids, in my bracket, away. I had only three rivals. One was in the state east of me & the other in the state west of me.
All three of us competed against each other in the Grand Nationals. That was on an asphalt track. I prefer dirt. It was so much fun. My car actually went over a wall, once. (Accident in front of me coming out of turn one. I went up high & one of the cars bounced off the inner most, ricocheted into mine, caught my wheel & somehow sent me flying.
Those years were fun. Racing is a rush.
Old comment I know, but I also raced quarter midgets for about a year when I was 7. My dad (ex-stock car driver) was the only guy who had the car up on scales EVERY day. That car was bought 2nd hand with very little work done to it and we were beating kids in the higher age bracket the first night out. So much fun at the time.
@@BunkerBlogYeah, it was fun. I recently found a picture of me with my third place Grand National trophy. I didn't look happy in that picture.
😂
After winning so many races, coming in third was a disappointment, especially because I know that if I didn't have that rear axle bearing issue I would've taken first place.
Oh, well. It wasn't meant to be. I've been plagued with bad luck my entire life.
P.S. if you like racing video games, there is a game for the PS4 and PS5 named World of Outlaws. It's all sprint and mod-stock racing.
👍🏻
Great rally gaming vlog
in Dirt Rally 1.0 my most favourite was fiat 131 abarth, the handling was telepathic and was winning all with it. Was so much fun with rwd on gravel and snow stages.
Love your channel Jimmy--if your ever in the states, beers on me.
The Escort mkII is by far my favorite car. It revs very high and it reminds me of Ari Vatanen.
I remember my dad driving Ford Escort mk2 in amateur rallies here in Finland in the 70s and 80s :D
I grew up in the eighties so this car is familiar the way it handles on gravel. Brilliant fun!
legendary, it's the perfect way to describe the mk2 escort
Absolutely my favourite, MKII Escorts were my first and second cars in real life. The BD engine is one of the best sounding engines ever and is modelled so accurately in this game. Not just the sound, but the way it revs and produces its power. I had to spend a lot of time creating a good setup for this car to make it more driveable, but you have to do that with all of the difficult to drive cars in this game. Now that I have that setup, it's just incredible. The H2RWD category is one of the best Dirt 2.0 has to offer, all cars in this category are awesome.
awesome to see you give jaroslav a bit of a shoutout i'm sure he'll be proud as fuck, he's such a genuinely great guy.
for a 50 year old car I'm always amazed how many escorts you see at rallies and how loud and fast they go, truly remarkable machines.
Nearly 220k subs!!!
The Escort mk2 is the best car 4 me too, it's so difficult but fun to wrestle drive
Great video, amazing chanel :D but for the next ones... can you balance better the audio? Ty :D
Had the game a month now, got the G29 wheel in Black Friday deal...should try other cars but mk2 is my era and i love it
I’m currently using this car in career mode and it is pretty good but I suffered a bit on Monte Carlo after the last two stages. The car suffers a bit with grip a lot there but overall I’m having a blast with it everywhere else!
There's a baby blue livery too which I think that is a nod to Frank Kelly's (a modern-day master of the Escort) livery.
cool car at my home country :) see a lot of them in new zealand rallies so glad to see your doing it right ;P
Id like to see you do a video on the renault 5 in dirt rally. Its my favourite car to drive in the game. And i never see anyone else drive it.
Lots of frottle response is always good
Jimmy, Love the vids. Keep up the good work son
You can just see how Jimmy learned from REAL rally driving
ALL THE WAY ALL THE WAY ALL THE WAY ALL THE WAY KEEP GOING KEEP GOING ALL THE WA ALL THE WAY
Man, that New Zealand stage looks great. Definitely feels like a lot of places I've been.
Nice driving 👍
Hey Jimmy just curious to see what your suspension setups would be like, are they intense like in a experts way or do you have them set up beginner-wise
Nice Dagenham dustbin
I want to see you tackle the Mustang on a twisty tight stage!!
Well, i haven't played the game, so i couldn't judge if it is the best in there, but i LOVE my own mk2 RS2000 road toy! Also, my dad's a 2 time national historic rally champion in his RS1800, so i know very well how it feels IRL, so in my humble opinion it really doesn't get any better than this either! Great video, great driving! Awesome game, looks great and engine noise is spot on!
Well.. I was studying the rigid-axle cars. I got amazed thinking that this car won a lot. I have very few ideas about being fast in Spain-rally with this kind of cars
I have a mk2 escort and yes ya do need to rev the snot out of them but it loves it
the mk2 escort is Europe's ae86 in many ways. Even Gordon Murray (of Fan Car, McLaren F1, etc fame) even had a fully custom one built to his specs. edit oops he had a mk1 built... but they are the same ethos
Hey Jimmer would be cool to see a live stream of you doing time trials trying to set a top time in the world or a top ten or something. Think that could be fun
Check out Simon Mckinnley white escort and if you can find it Ari Vatanen the Touch parts 1 and 2. Awesome video as always, thanksz
Loving the new zealand stages on the channel. I'm a kiwi.
Meh, to me the colour of both the road and country side is too washed out and brown...not to mention the Ambulances aren't in the correct livery.
Although I love the stage, I wish it was labelled with the actual area, It's just north of Ruapuke in Waikato, quite a ways from Hawkes Bay
Weird seeing my country on this channel, got to say it looks like a funny mix of north island landscapes with South Island bush scattered about :D
Also don't forget to try out the Kadett. If you want another car that drives pretty similarly to the Escort, I'd say it's the E30.
Bruh how do y'all drive these cars so well i can't drive that thing without fuckin spinning out every corner
What is the large gauge on the right of the dash for? I'm also impressed at how much this looks like New Zealand proper. The side of the road foliage is way too bright, but the track layout, the distant foliage and hills, even the fences are spot on.
I'd love an external view
You could even just slap it at the end
I love how Finnish people are good at rally and rally games
Nice job Jimmer, Nice job!!!!
My first car was a 95 ford escort it made me love the crossworth mkII
Having fun in sim racing is allowed? Blasphemy!
Rally sim is the grey area since there isn't anyone to punt you off track 😂
the dude who does barrel rolls and 360s in dirt rally effortlessly: allow me to introduce myself
Be able to speak and drive like this is absolutely amazing!
Is there an option in the game to change between right hand drive and left hand drive? Or is it just different between the cars?
2:41 Thicc britt gives history lessons
I'd love to see videos of the Porsche and group B Lancia.
This car is wild fun in finland in dirt 1.0
its definitely the most fun car that ive ever driven but its kinda hard at high speed in poland so you should try it in poland and can you tell me your fov settings i really like it
Datsun 180B SSS the most under rated rally car ever
Sean Price nope it would be no more successful as the Quattro, the 240rs was still essentially a road chassis like the Quattro where as the competition was all space frame purpose built rally cars and that is why when the 205 t16 and the s4 were quicker than the Quattro and why they would still have been quicker than the 240rs if it was 4wd.
I just got a 180b sedan 4spd manual. So much fun to pot around in. Needs some work then rally time
@jimmy Broadbent care to share your simucube and ingame ffb settings? I get next to none road surface information being sent to the wheel on my osw.
What are you using for a ebrake?? I have a wheel g920 with a h shifter but playing the last dirt games I don't like not having a ebrake
If you go into your files, you can find, "device defines" and scroll down you can find the setting for ffb is set at "0.9" on most wheels. For TM wheels, we found "4.0-9.0" seems to work well. You go thru the "Steam" et al files to find it. "Devin Booth" made a great video that shows the way to do it. (Baby in headset picture.)
A great advice if you love horrible clipping and want to destroy your wheel faster.
Have to bare in mind that when Jardier said that it was only the escort and the Lancia Fulvia that he had driven in game 😅
skipping from the beginning to the end of the video... gotta love how flush Jimmy got LOL
Can u use SEQ gears in theese older rallycars ? i cant do heel/toe, so H shifter is kinda crap for me :D
Did you use a custom setup for it?
1:27 naturally aspirated isn't what makes u have to rev the sh out of it to get some power. Usually the opposite, adding a turbo is what might make you need to rev to get the power. I mean also non turbo older cars gave their power and torque at high rpm but turbo just had a more steep curve.
I love the rwd cars. I dont know why but the escort always has good drivers in real rally. I personally love the bmw m3 e 30 sooo much. But its hard to drive it.
That looked fun - must try it. Just bought this for PS4 - after really enjoying first DIRT Rally. BUT - I hate the way it is taking SOOO long to try and get a FFB setting that works and feels right!!!! Using a Thrustmaster T300. Anyone got advice where I can find a good setup?
muito bom !!! vc e fera !!!
Hi jimmy, are you going to commentate the top 16 superstars race for gt sport on saturday?
My FFB are fucked in DR2 on my Thrustmaster TX with my XB1X. No road feel at all? Missing two options in the FFB settings. What is going on?
Pity is that, Dirt rally 2.0 hasn't added a few, of the 'Circuit of Ireland.' classic stages.
The Ford is actually my dream car, ever since dirt 2, the first car I learnt to drive in manual. Any chance I get to drive it, I do.
im still playin dirt 3
I would play it too but the online is dead, I used to play that game a lot, I was really good at rallycross, such a shame
@@nicocontreras2838 yea it's still a great game, but I don't really care about the online so I'm fine with dirt 3
My uncle used to own one, which he drove rally with. Got to be a "co-driver" a few times. I can still hear the rocks hitting the bottom of the car. It was absolutely fantasic.
You should get your ears checked bruh
@@stupidrainbo maybe have still some rocks inside :D:D :D
