- Come along on my first day of learning a new instrument!
Ya’ll might know, I mainly play guitar and other plucked and strummed stringed instruments, plus hand percussion and voice. When I was a wee lad I had a toy electric organ. Through the years, on those rare occasion when I’m in front of a keyboard or piano, I might have gotten a little brave at times and tinkled the keys for a few minutes.
Learning a new instrument is always a cool way to work with one’s neuroplasticity. I began wanting a keyboard in my life, no doubt sparked by the Milwaukie Art Committee’s MilwauKEYS project. I started watching reviews for affordable digital pianos and keyboards. The Casio CT-S1 was appreciated by so many. It has a combination of simple interface, superb sound quality for it’s price point, 61 semi-weighted-ish, touch-responsive keys, can be battery operated, highly portable and, c’mon… it’d red! The Casio Ct-S1 is gorgeous! Though plastic, I like the textured surfaces, and color-matched cloth over the speaker grills. The felt dust liner is a nice touch. And, it sounds fab!
So, here’s a non-piano guy’s first play on the Casio CT-S1. I use the Standard Piano sound with surround button on. Want to hear more tones from the Casio CT-S1 and come along for the learning ride? Let me know!

It's lovely watching you find your way around a new instrument! You definitely sound like you have been playing it for quite a while already.
Oh, thanks kindly… I do appreciate the encouragement! I really enjoy how my brain muddles through it. More in the hopper!
