The trouble bus companies face is that running frequent services might increase their patronage a bit, but running 4 buses an hour versus 2, doubles their fuel cost on that route. It also doubles their wage cost for that route. This wouldn't normally be an issue, but because bus companies nationwide have been treating their drivers like garbage, and paying poverty wages for years, there simply aren't the drivers going round to even run the services at all. Paying closer attention to fleet maintenance and stretching out the service life of the vehicles is a cheap and effective way to reduce costs. Although your fleet age increases, a double decker bus costs £250k... if those are lasting only 5 years, that's not far off the cost of a driver. Stretch out the life of the vehicles to save money to pay drivers. You'll end up with lower staff turnover, better compliance, reduced HR bills, more experienced drivers (and thus, reduced accident costs), and the ability to increase revenue by more frequent services. I don't understand why these big companies think it makes more economic sense to employ a threadbare covering of demotivated staff, rather than have experienced and content drivers.
Unfortunately, it's an issue which is not just the transport industry, no matter what industry you work in the method of "fewest staff possible doing the most work possible" seems to be a common thing :(
If you are as irritated as I am about people standing up when there's plenty of seats available, there's an pretty easy fix to it. You need to get rid of the standing spaces. It makes sense, especially on routes which you know are never really busy. To do that do the following: 1. Duplicate the relevant .bus files and rename them (smth like low capacity). 2. Duplicate the relevant passengercabin cfg. 3. Link the new passengercabin in the .bus file and rename the bus in the friendlyname, to recognize it ingame. 3. Now, open the passengercabin cfg and scroll to the bottom, that's where passenger positions are defined. Delete every passpos entry which has a 0 at the fourth position. You just made yourself a variant with no standing spaces.
My local bus route is an Arriva normally enviro 400 and a pulsar 2 so two buses running and it’s every 15 mins and then is every half hour at 21:00 on a weekday and saturday night and all day Sunday with 1 bus running. for the every half hour service
Nice one Joe! Don't be too hard on Lincoln, while I live in Louth near Lincoln which is boring! Lincoln is not so bad, it's a University city so it's full of life. Had some good nights out there. Depends what you enjoy I suppose. If you ever visit again I'll give you a tour. Great vids as usual. Take care!
That was a great ride. Nice map. Although some facades looked strange as they used photo's where there were cars in front of the facade, like at 35:45 you can see parts of cars, and later in Lincoln I saw parts of people in front of the facade photo! But further more it is a great map, with UK license plates and the passengers even pay in Pound Sterling! But they do not speak. Isn't there a English voice pack?
i live in derby and our local bus company arriva have made there services less frequent so for eg my buses (22&24) from 7 minutes per bus to 20 minutes
Nice to see a Eclipse 2 in Cotswold Stone livery I wonder if Arriva ordered any Eclipse 2s in that livery obvious plenty of Pulsar 2s were, here in Merseyside got loads of them before they started to get repainted. The strike has made me miss riding on Pulsars but the god awful Solo SRs tend to be on my route now.
@@JoeDobsongaming O ok. No worries. I don't have it see so I don't know. I wish omsi comes to console. How do you get the UK routes or are they standard?
@@JoeDobsongaming I'd love to see a full central Scotland OMSI especially Edinburgh Glasgow City routes and Edinburgh to Glasgow Megabus routes and West Lothian full routes. No one makes these mods 😭😭
Hey Joe I love your vids you make me laugh with what you say and I was thinking why don't you use the arriva Dennis dart and the evrio 300 bus on the 100 with the veiling 2 bus and keep up the good work
Does anybody know how to drive this bus with this exact livery? I have the reskin mod (that is linked in this videos description), but I've been through each Veiling and each skin in-game (which takes ages due to the game loading each one) and I've been unable to find it. If anybody knows the exact bus model at least, I can at least know where to look :)
I live in Cheshire too and I get the 38 Crewe to Macclesfield and now Arriva have closed down the depots so it’s just D&G now and they are rubbish Arriva we’re loads better
Since starting tk watch your Channel I have started to really like eclipses 😊
Thanks Transportlegend! They’re a lovely bus (to travel on and to drive!) 😁
A bus every hour!! Luxury!! We get one bus a week (on a Wednesday) and that doesn't always turn up 🤣🤣
Oh. That makes my bus every 12 minutes look bad lol
Now I can’t complain about my bus every 30mins
My one is every 15 minutes even though it says every 6 minutes on the buses😂
lovely new branding Joe, well done, William.
Thanks SimNZ! :D
20:46 yea we got the 724 😂
Can you drive on the local routes of the map
Hi Little Station! I absolutely can do :) I'll look into this for the upcoming OMSI videos :)

Maybe I need to give Lincoln a chance, as a few people have said this. I need to sit outside with one of those signs that says "change my mind" :D
Great video Joe! Love the new channel banner.
Great Just Like Always, You Put A Smile on my Face.

The 100 route is run by gainsborough stagecoach

Would be nice if the map creators creat a Cheshire map for omsi 2

How did you set game up to run so smooth, mine is jittery as hell even with high end CPU and 32gb of ram
To this day I'm still not too sure haha :D
Joe I see you have changed your logo to joe ahead group
I liked the logo a lot so thought we'd adopt it across the board :)
Games a great design. You just need a massively overpriced high spec console to enjoy it.
