What the PASSIONS production crew did is considered illegal. According to SAG-AFTRA rules for minors on set, Section 50, part E SUPERVISION ITEM 2 “A parent or guardian must be present at all times while a minor is working, and shall have the right, subject to filming requirements, to be within sight and sound of the minor, except as restricted herein by subsection D.(10). “.
In Canada, ACTRA Minors rules state Section A2708 Presence of Parent a) A Parent of a Minor under 16 years of age must be at the studio or the location and accessible to the Minor at all times, and shall have the right, subject to filming requirements, to be within sight and sound of the Minor, when a Minor is on set and must accompany the Minor to and from the set or location, and shall have the right to accompany the Minor on hair, makeup, and wardrobe calls, if the space can accommodate the Parent, and provided that the Parent is not disruptive.
The industry is gradually getting better, but parents still need to be parents.

Agreed. Plus, it's so refreshing to know even such a high profile actor has doubts from time to time but with the hard work she puts in she always nails the part. In an interview Mary told about the role of Ramona that she played in Scott Pilgrim. She said she didn't really feel that she could become the enagmatic character, but when she put the wig on she sort of became more trusting. And of course she nailed the part. I guess that doubt-trust-success procedure is something that never really goes away. She just knows how to deal with it successfully.

I agree with the sentiment but I think she’s actually been done an injustice parts-wise. What I mean is, she’s amazing in whatever she’s in but only a couple of productions have been worthy of her talent and presence. She deserves better, we’ve barely scratched the surface of what she can do.

She has been in more mediocre films than good films… she must have a bad agent. She should be doing elegant art films and big franchise productions, instead she is in “Live Free or Die Hard”, “The Thing” remake and a bunch of “eh” movies that offered enough money and exposure to keep her somewhat relevant. These are not inspired decisions. She is absolutely fantastic and deserves better.

Actors and actresses have been receiving an exceptional amount of pressure from their agents and producers to take on these action roles. Vic Morrow and the twilight zone incident was the final straw.. but ONSET PARENTS, doesn't mean the parent is allowed to be arguing with a director over a scene THEIR child auditioned for.. or the fact that their kid has less dialog or screen time is my gripe. NOR do I agree with this actress that PASSIONS was perverse OR toxic.. set's or productions that are sanctioned by media unions are ON POINT and have wayyy more guidelines to protect and ensure that the talent is treated with a professional respect, but still requiring the actor to produce hired material.. in other words... just do your job.. say thnx and go home... and DON'T bring your drama...
