    I have a 2007 XTERRA Model X with 170,000 odometer miles and found this video very helpful. I hope you are making some progress with the fault. I thought when you had a plugged-up cat. one way to know is to check your Miles Per Gallon. If your MPG has dropped noticeably that indicates your cat. is plugged up. My car gets 16MGP and has since the day I purchased the vehicle. I have changed sensors but not my cat. I think I will try running a bottle of Cataclean through just to clean out my system.

      Hey ! give it a shot ! maybe it will help are you the original owner of the truck ? in my case in the end I had to replace CAT anyways because it only helped me as a temp solution.
      so I installed new CAT sometime after this video... and now 2 years later I am actually installed another CAT ( new video soon ) on that

    My 2001 Nissan Frontier couldn’t be smog tested because oxygen sensors weren’t ready. I drove around for over a month and they still weren’t ready. Then I added a bottle of Cataclean to the gas tank drove it around for a half an hour on the freeway and city streets, checked it with my OBD meter and the sensors were ready. My truck didn’t have the “check engine” light on but Cataclean saved the day. It worked for me!

    The issue is that cadilytic converter is completely done for you. You need to replace it either way. If it was for a newer model with less miles it would go away. This is the same issue that happened to me. I ended up buying the part and then getting a person that’s a mechanic put it up for a bit cheaper. But I’m in Missouri so that’s why. Also my car was a Merced c230 kompressor 2005. I ended up also deleting the resonator and straight piped it.

      Hey ! thank you for the comment.. yes.. that what it is.. it won't help me.. as I have high mileage older car.. so that what I did it my another video I ordered new Cat and I attempted to replace it myself lol ))

    Love how you been collecting the video and telling us your experiences with the cataclean I’m having the same issue and I might ended up fixing the catalyst I heard my car need to get fix two of them which I don’t know if it’s necessary but will see… Buick Enclave 2011 fWD if somebody is having the same issue let me know if it’s a solution please!

      You are welcome hopefully this is some one helps . and I pretty sure your car has same amount of them 2 at the front and 2 in the rear.. the front ones are the one that fail and sends code as they are the one been monitored so you might will need to replace ether driver side or passenger side.. In my case I ended up replacing my passenger side . I attempted to do it myself too lol

    You may need to use Cataclean every 2 months. You can try using a gallon of lacquer thinner with 9 gallons of fuel and drive around 150 miles, that's what Scotty Kilmer says.

    • @DIY_AUTO_PHOTO
      @DIY_AUTO_PHOTO  3 роки тому

      In the end I did used it 2 times but not every 2 months .. perhaps I could have tried to use it more but I just wanted to fix it..
      as to the lacquer thinner ummmm dont know about that lol I seen Scotty's video but there is also alot of videos that say Don't Do it ! lol

    Its works well. Here in the UK if your car is over 3 years old it has to go through a rather tough government test every year at a cost of around £45, I mean these test are really tough. One of the criteria is exhaust emissions. My wife drives a smart for 2 convertible but she does very little mileage its only covered 48,000 miles but as its not a daily it failed the emissions test last year, the guy at the desk recommended I went to the lock car shop and got a bottle of cataclean and drove the car "hard" for 20 minutes or so and then return. I did this and WOW the emissions had dropped to within the acceptable level, a pass WHOOO HOOO. Yesterday this years test so before I went I got catacleam, did the drive and it flew through the test so for me its a winner winner chicken dinner.

    used it in my 2nd gen Xterra, code came back same day. I do think it helped with starting, probably due to it cleaning the injectors. P0420 can be set for many reasons. My exhaust has leaks, so that could be the problem or many other things. Hook it to a computer and see whats going on first and go from there.

    • @DIY_AUTO_PHOTO
      @DIY_AUTO_PHOTO  3 роки тому +1

      Yes you right.. could be many things... but I recently changed my cat and thankfully there is no more codes

    • @eminiscalperpro9729
      @eminiscalperpro9729 3 роки тому

      @@DIY_AUTO_PHOTO That will most likely be the case for me. I'm going to do the complete exhaust system in the near future anyways. Putting the extension (plug non-fouler) on the downstream 02 sensor will almost always stop the code and allow you to pass emissions. I have them and a new bosch downstream 02 sensor on the way. Will install those and see if it takes care of the codes. However, my X is registered in a state with no emissions, so I don't really have to do anything, but I like to keep it performing as new. Will post back if I found out if its the cat or something else.

    One more thing, BG44k probably works better than cataclean... I've heard of great results using it and if your vehicle is still operating well, with no codes, it will keep your fuel system n cats clean until they finally wear out due to age.

    10:52.. Probably about the same amount of damage as mining for the precious metals that are necessary for the convertor to work properly.

Changed my plugs and coils and never had the code again but cleaned with cata clean after replaced the plugs and coil overs. My plugs and at least one coil was mis firing enough to send carbon down but not enough to have a coil for the plug or coil.

      John Jackson. Sorry JJ but UR wrong, and I’m going back as far as when they were Datsun. I’ve had a 240, a 280, a 4x4 KK Hardbody, 2 Pathfinders, 5, Z32TT’s. 1, Z32TT that I campaigned in SCCA road racing for 5 years. I have a G35 coupe, and 2 Xterra’s to date, and my X OffRoad has 183K on it. They have their quirks as do all, but they have been good to me and my family.
