The real question however is how much it would cost you in legal fees to defend yourself if the company tries to enforce the non-compete, even if the ultimate outcome is in your favour.
If you work in healthcare, be sure to leave a 1 star review on the employer's recruitment page if they have a non-compete agreement. Apparently state run agencies like the office of mental health recommend against using these non compete agreements.
Finally some good Information. I am wondering if it applies to the New Jersey. It's pure blackmail to the normal person my employer threaten me with that after 3 y of service with him Greed has no limits
I wish more people would simply REFUSE TO SIGN TO BEGIN WITH! I know it's hard when we're all just trying to feed our families but if only we as a society could "just say no." I recently turned down a contract for a job I REALLY wanted due to an outrageous non-compete. I asked them to better define the area, they refused, I asked to redline, they said it was non-negotiable, so I told them I wouldn't be moving forward with onboarding. Absolutely unfreaking real, companies these days
This video is incredibly helpful! I think I may have a trash non-compete. Is there a link to set up that review and consultation that you mentioned in your video? Please send
What about TEXAS? I am a loan officer and my employer is in Florida. I signed a non compete. They started if I leave I will owe them $. I might need you help lol
I currently work for my employer. I want to start the same business on the side. I have a non-compete with my employer. Could I get in trouble by working on my company, same industry and staying employed? FYI, it is a franchise and I will be building an independent version, not franchised in construction.
I'm actually about to have a job interview for a competitor company. My company had sued the competitor in the past for copyright infringment. Hopefully there is no discussion of a NCA
I signed a non compete agreement but it includes language about setting up a similar business within 1 mile of the current business and something about taking their clients. Is that a legal part of a non compete? Neither of these things involve trade secrets or being a superstar in the company..
Hi there what if you're fired and given a reason but weren't ever given any really protocols of the rules of engagement? It's a sales role that I'm taking about and the reason I was given is that I emailed a prospect who was with a company we were told not to email and I only realized I wasn't supposed to email him after the fact.
Ok let me give you my rundown... I am a pest control guy a d was fired on March 11th right before the lockdowns. And lost my unemployment because my old boss is a good actor as well as lier. So went 8months without work and finally found work a couple months ago at another pest control company in my small town. 10,000 POP But last month my old boss showed up at my work and went in yelling and wanting them to fire me cause they have a non compete agreement. My boss says to kick rocks. Today I got a certified letter. A seise and desist order with a settlement offer and more shit to sign. Oh and only 6mo left on the 3 year agreement to boot.
Is a non disclosure agreement valid you sign it as a potential employee but never start a job? I signed one in January but it's September and still haven't started working
