Worked at a fish and chips place for a couple of summers, the tarter sauce that every one loved and praised was the same major brand that you could get at a grocery store, just in an unlabelled condiment container. Not sure if this is true for every place as this was a small local chain but it does demonstrate how people perceive ordinary tastes as being better at restaurants.
Re. Reading to your kids: My dad did that with me. Bedtime story every night. I don’t remember learning how to read. Everything in school is predicated on reading, so it helped literally everywhere.
As an American, feeling down about Trump’s impending presidency, it’s so heartening to hear how other countries find us, at least in person, to be nice and friendly.
The thing about compliments is 100% true. I just graduated recently with a bachelors of arts and Homeland security, which a lot of the studying was public policy stuff and I’m currently studying for a masters in public administration the one thing I’ll never forget from the two leadership courses I took And several other homeland security courses when talking about what provides employees. The biggest sense of satisfaction is not getting raises or getting extra time off. It is having their bosses recognize them for the work they do and actually take interest in the work not just saying to everyone in the office. You’re all doing great but going to each individual and saywhat the boss likes of what they’re doing and why they like it and why it’s good.
