  • For today's unboxing review we have for you one of our favorite affordable fun drives, the 2017 Fiat 500 Abarth. Only updated last year, the 500 Abarth is still powered by a turbocharged 1.4-liter inline-four with 157 hp and 183 lb-ft of torque. Power goes directly to the front wheels through either a six-speed manual or, in the case of our tester, a six-speed automatic. Honestly, this slushbox isn't so bad and it may even be the preferred choice for some buyers, especially if they drive around in heavy traffic. But the 500 Abarth, compared to the regular 500, is the enthusiast's choice. It's a lot of fun to drive and the suspension has been tuned for that very purpose.
Step inside and you'll find that same retro interior that adorns every 500, only this one has unique Abarth scorpion badges throughout. FCA's excellent Uconnect infotainment system is present on the 5-inch display screen and there's even a 7-inch driver's gauge cluster. The rear seat can only fit two people, but it's good to have if you plan to do any sort of shopping. But perhaps the attraction 500 Abarth offers for many is the bang for your buck value. Base price is a very reasonable $22,575, but our tester was equipped with many, but not all, extras for a grand total of $28,895. Quick comparison: the average new car in the US costs around $33k. If you're looking for something fun to drive but don't need a whole lot of interior or cargo space and don't want to spend above $30k, the Fiat 500 Abarth may be for you. Enjoy the review!

I have a black 2015 Abarth. I highly recommend going from stock to these mods. Go pedal , ECU, pulley, throttle body, intercooler. This will make a significant amount of difference on performance.

I've had my Abarth since Valentine's Day 2014, now has almost 42K on it. I've had a few issues but too many mechanical ones but just this past weekend I had the drivers side rear wheel bearing replaced, under warranty and the tech found a bad upper rad hose clamp, replaced it as well. Two months ago I broke the shifter cable and it was replaced under warranty but while it was there I had the steering column cover, drivers side window regulator and passenger side front seat recliner mechanism replaced, all under warranty.
Now when I first got the car, as a demo, the headliner was coming apart at the A pillar, entire thing was replaced and side skirt was also repaired as it started to come undone (common issue)
So you heard about all the issues so you'd think I'm unhappy with the car right....WRONG! My car has all the popular mods sans a turbo and injectors (and hi-flow downpipe) and these things respond VERY well to mods =======
Go test drive one and see if it doesn't put a huge smile on your face. Btw I've gotten 41 mpg on the freeway once but normally I get 37-38 mph with the cruize on, no sweat!

Omg i love this car so much, idk if its a great start for a first car but i also want to have it as a first car to learn to drive stick (im from the U.S. since they hardly have manual here tbh). Does anyone have any tips/advice that i should know about it such as maintenance, ride quality, and/or about having it as a first car to drive as a manual?

Well. Fiats are known for there unreliability
It's a super fun little car and I really can't hate it just because of the unreliability but for a first car? Are you a college student? Are you financially stable enough to afford the uber rides for when it (unfortunately, inevitably) breaks down? If you're fine with those things then ya, go for it. It's got a short clutch though (I personally hate short, or what I call baby clutches) so there's that too.
I personally am a fan of long travel on my clutches. But if you're not used to something like I am, and those other previously mentioned things don't bother you then go for it man!

I get that you have to have a strong opinion for your videos but I wouldn’t say the fiat is the closest you can get to a steet legal go kart. The fiesta st and early 2002-2013 minis give you the same experience. Obviously, you’re here to talk abarth because you were able to get the car for the day. I’d just be curious if you go the option to showcase a mini that you would end up saying the same thing lol

Nice review! I actually recently reviewed a Fiat 500c Abarth! I really enjoyed reviewing that fun little car! I called the 500c Abarth in my review, "The Epitome of Budget Performance!". I was also blown away by the exhaust note of the Abarth, and how spacious it actually was.
Feel free to check out my full review of the 500c Abarth, Unboxing Cars! I would love to here your comments! Keep up the great work!

With the incentives dgdg and fiat were offering as I live in San Jose almost made me buy one but just wasn't practical for my uses. I couldn't find a cpo either. But a Ford Fiesta St is $20k so I just went with a 16 Chevy Cruze because I put alot of Miles about 25k a year and it was $16k for the lt version.
