There wad a very interesting documentary on the Real Macbeth on Radio Scotland a few years ago, he was reported to be a good landlord, had a long and happy marriage, and improved the farm land immensely. Moray is a BEAUTIFUL part of Scotland BTW 🏴🏴🏴❤️. Thanks for your work, good wishes y'all 🙏🏼
I was watching the Tragedy of Macbeth by Joel Coen and I asked myself “I wonder if Macbeth was based on a real king” only to find out he was entirely real w no name changes similar to Shakespeare’s Henriad
I thought Macbeth was a fictional character! I'm learning interesting facts from my favourite channel HP. Thank you so much Ollie for your narration and your usual atmospheric musical backing. 👌👏❤️🌟
@@historyprofilesI swear it is pronounced Findlay, not Findlach, studied this because I am Macbethad's possible grandson of many generations, due to my surname.
Am currently LEARNING about the Shakespeare's "Tragedy Of Macbeth" in English You LITERALLY just showed me the real deal-history 👍👌(your videos are and always have been VERY Informative 👏. Thanks )
Thank you for that information. Could you do please do a piece on the life of Sigurd Beorn (later Armstrong) earl of Northumbria that you mentioned in this video. Sub'd :)
I love these stories and I love to make the connections of bloodline as well as succession. My all time favs historical character would have to be Joan of arc would love a birth till death on her.
Thank you so much for watching mr fear!! I hope you enjoyed the video! On my patreon I make exclusive videos based on your suggestions! Check out my video for everyone to see on bishop Heahmond! The link is in the description!
Thanks for the upload. Such an amazing story. I have heard about the Skapeskere s play but I was ignorant oh who he really was. I have been watching Outlander and it's such a great program about the way of life in the Highlands.
I did not know he was a *real person* like many commenters also said ... I do luv the movies made especially the witches prophecy & scenes w/ the witches ...11century ... long time ago ...royalty & the games they play & if any of them married for love I'm not certain if they were lucky or not since many died horrible deaths; being caught up in premediated murder, poison & hunting accidents for example 🤔
By my time in high school I had heard that Shakespeare had based the character Banquo on the real life King of Scotland I believe and had even invited him to attend thr show and even let him be the one to hold the mirror that Macbeth looks at to see Banquo while dead has line that will stretch for centuries, so I knew there was some truth to this. And loving the first part if the play and realizing that instead if peoples names they are referred to by position and location so hearing a name like "Norway himself in terrible numbers" makes me ok Vikings which also dates the story roughly. But get the full history of the real life man is great.
I love how pro black denzel is.... and he's like okay well if people are appropriating black culture... why not.... I'll do it! & damn right! Do that shit denzel, I stand behind you on that one ✊🏾✊🏿✊🏽 🇵🇷
@@Dakestheman Yeah, people like A.D.R, think they're sticking it to the "racist" white people by supporting this trend of race-swapping historical white figures. They're basically saying they'd rather be white and celebrate Europe's history and culture while Africa's own rich history is once again ignored, and forgotten... it's sad, truly.
@@HdHd-hp6qz I know all about the song of Roland anyways you black people were just foot soldiers for the Moors now stop stealing their history. You're a West African Bantu deal with it.
@@HdHd-hp6qz By the way Macbeth wasn't black or Moorish he was a so called White man of Gaelic origin which makes him a Celt which would make him part Indo-European and Proto Indo-European neither of those races are black they're Caucasian.
@Patrick Fitzgerald You are wrong. Macbeth was of a mix heritage. His father was a moor. You need to understand the demographics of those times. Racism wasn’t invented yet and people traveled from civilisation to others. In those days Spain and southern Italy had black kings. It was not uncommon for people to been mix raced relationships back then because the caste system wasn’t invented yet.
If it weren't for Shakespeare's Play, Verdi's namesake opera and the Disney's Gargoyles, I would not know about the real-life Macbeth!
I hope you enjoyed the video Dee!!
Gargoyles was amazingly educational

Nice video! Many don’t know that Macbeth was an actual person.
Hopefully more people know now! Thank you for watching !

@@historyprofilesI swear it is pronounced Findlay, not Findlach, studied this because I am Macbethad's possible grandson of many generations, due to my surname.
You have to remember, part of the reason Shakespeare wrote the Scottish Play, was to reinforce King James's claim to the unified throne.
Interesting.
I loved the Ulienn pipes in the background, much softer than the Scottish pipes, loved the video another convert
I read the book in school, as I'm sure many did, but I honestly never knew he was a real person. So ignorant 😂
Great video as always, Olie!
Real man! Real warrior! Thank you for checking in unsolvable!!!
Hi there Luke. You look like Macbeth with your manly bearded face. 😍
Really enjoyed that one Ollie have a wonderful day there and take care
Thank you Robert! You too!
I didn't know anything at all about macbeth. I always assumed he was just a fictional Shakespeare character. Thanks for this informative video man!👍🏼

I really enjoyed learning that he was a real person, and an honorable one at that.
Shakespear basically did what all hollywood movies do today: changed the character and history drastically from its source material.
Thank you Ollie! It was fantastic to know Macbeth real life. Great article history video! You always shows the best! I enjoyed very much
Thank you so much for watching Elke!!!

You are welcome! I enjoyed very much, already listened twice
Maybe the "curse" was Macbeth's way of telling Shakespeare that his version of events was wrong.
Had no clue this guy was real. Loved the story in high school. Thanks for the info! Subbed!
I never knew there was a real McBeth. That was very interesting.
*Brief Case* mentioned this on his *community* page ... had no idea it was up & going 👍👍👍👍👍🎬

Awesome video, as always!
One small correction, it’s pronounced Keltic with a K. (Even though it’s spelled with a C.)
I only use Celtic sea salt. Yes. Pronounced with K.
Yeah, I have that notification turned on but it doesn't seem to work. Thanks for another great history profile.
I'm proud to be a decendant

Sarcasm if you are a black person?
It’s pronounced “Keltic” not “Seltic”
The new film. Let down.
Haven’t seen it yet, but I will get around to it
Again history is too much for people. So sad...... I heard a conversation about the latest take on Macbeth and I was surprise how basic people are.
I mean he was described as a Dog in annals, and prophesied as a Red Boar by merlin. So don't think he was well liked.
Did Malcolm and Duncan have last names?
McBeth was a Moor.
The Moors aren't black ya identity stealing Bantu.
? what ? macbeth is traditional scottish gaelic name, mac being "son of"
where do you get that info
People who get their history from American films are to be pitted
You left out the part about Demona and the Weird Sisters.
#Gargoyles
I found out recently I’m a descendant of Macbeth
Grouch???? Is there any Scottish name you can pronounce? Phonetically her name is Grew-akh. Moray is Murry. Findlaech is Fin- Lekh. SewArd is Siword.
Why putting a black aka denzel as subject..Macbeth has never been black
Macbeth was a blond…
O
He was a Moor and he was black!!
The Moors were and still are Amazigh they're not black nor have they ever bee. Macbeth is a Gael not a Moorish North African.
@Patrick Fitzgerald Research song of Roland. These are white people in those times saying the moors were black men.
