One of the best versions of our National Anthem I have ever heard. Also it is very common to pre-record the lyrics and have the artist lip sync at these huge events, especially in large stadiums. This was sung totally live. Just one man, one guitar and one amazing vocal performance.
I've seen Stapleton live, and this was definitely a legitimate live performance. I'm happy to see him receiving the attention and gravitas he deserves. He is the best Male singer of our lifetime in my opinion.
Chris Stapleton literally freakin' killed this!! When he started singing it made you listen to the lyrics. He made you feel the meaning behind each word of our national anthem & how it withstands the constant barrages from all directions that has left it torn & tattered yet it endures & still stands!!
Interesting observation. He has often cited Ray Charles and Otis Redding (along with several singers of the Country and Rock genres) as his vocal influences.
Chris brought his unmistakeable Chris-ness, but he wasn't out to make it about him, didn't go into vocal acrobatics, etc. It was respectful, tasteful and reverent. Even some of the biggest and best entertainers have been tripped up in this situation, but I wasn't nervous for Chris at all, I knew he had it and was in complete control. Another reason to love Chris! Try, "Cold" live from the 2021 CMAs (Country Music Awards.) Well worth the listen!
Other "artists" make it about themselves trying to do all types of sh!t, but Chris came in in and said this is about America, not me, and I'm honored to do this. It's not about me, but I'm proud to do this. God bless him!!
Well he's surely outdone Fergie hello LOL best national anthem version and especially him doing it live but just his guitar and his voice and I also liked how he took his cowboy hat off that shows respect for our country
He absolutely crushed it, I can’t believe there were people in the audience wearing hats. To us veterans that is so disrespectful to us and our country. I’m pretty sure I’m gonna get some flack for saying this, but until you have fought in a war for this country, there’s not much you can say to me beautiful job Chris Stapleton
Chris is so amazing. He is best known probably for his cover of Tennessee Whisky. I highly suggest the live version at Austin City Limits. He was pumped for that performance. Easily twice as good as the studio version. The man goes off, plus he is singing to his wife. How cool is that?
I recommend He Ain't Heavy, He's My brother by The Hollies and Reflections of My Life, by the Scottish band, Marmalade. Thes songs were from the Vienam era. Though I didn't serve, at times I send tears for the 56 plus thousand military who died in a war that should not have been fought.
Chris Stapleton sings this song the way it should be sung. To honor the words and the history of the American flag! And the men and women who have served and died protecting the American flag and what it stands for! I just watched a video of yours that you just did where you did a reaction on the history of the Star-Spangled Banner. When you know the story behind it, the song even has more impact to it. Excellent reaction.!
He sings this with such conviction. And notice, because of him performing the national anthem, he didn't have his signature cowboy hat on. Phenomenal rendition
GREAT OF YOU TO NOTICE THAT DETAIL WITH THE HAT, AS IT GOES WITH THE STORY THAT HE HAD BEEN ASKED TO SING THE NATIONAL ANTHEM AND HE SAID HE WOULD ONLY DO IT FOR THE SUPERBOWL.
Until Chris Stapleton I always thought Whitney Houston’s version was the best ! But This is so passionate and with our great country struggling with well I will leave my political opinion out of it but we needed this performance ! We needed to be reminded of how important our Nation Anthem is ! God bless America 🇺🇸 ! Trump 2024 !!
I'm a person that means shit all ..I'm a person that looks to my forefathers for the absolute dream of being an American. I'm a person that has served. I'm a person that says,,,, please look away from 5he past and towards a future of peace to just live life like ANY higher power would have us live life, in a harmonious life that benefits our globe.
This anthem was given during a really divisive time that America faced. People calling racist for everything, media propaganda, kneeling during the anthem, etc...I think this anthem was sung to a hurt nation to help it heal and move forward. This rendition and Whitney's truly was the greatest of all time.
Loved your insights. Thank you. Lots of comparisons to and discussions about other pop renditions of the Nation Anthem. I agree with comments below that too many artists have made it about themselves (the runs sound technical and contrived to my ear). Chris Stapleton has a unique and uncanny ability not only to take the message in the music but to inject that into the listeners' hearts. The National Anthem is a passionate song. From the Smithsonian Magazine: ""It seemed as though mother earth had opened and was vomiting shot and shell in a sheet of fire and brimstone," [Francis Scott] Key wrote later. But when darkness arrived, Key saw only red erupting in the night sky. Given the scale of the attack, he was certain the British would win. The hours passed slowly, but in the clearing smoke of "the dawn's early light" on September 14, he saw the American flag-not the British Union Jack-flying over the fort, announcing an American victory.". Chris Stapleton communicated that in a way that made it relevant, visceral, and as passionate as it was for Francis Scott Key as he wrote the words.
Whitney Houston's SB National Anthem has always been number one until Chris Stapleton. Now Chris and Whitney are #1 and #2 in no particular order. Both phenomenal performances!
@@barsandbarbells2022 The difference between Chris & Whitney is that Whitney's was pre-recorded and she lip-synced. Chris was totally live, which was verified. Both incredible singers - no shade.
@@blossom_n_gin Your right, I did not know that, but I just verified your 100% correct. Apparently, she did sing but the mic was off due to crowd noise. Wow, I had no idea for all these years!
I don't see any videos from the best a-capela group in the world Home Free 🙂 May I suggest you watch their cover of Man Of Constant Sorrow and remember no instruments of any kind, just their voices! You could follow up with their cover of Boys To Men, End Of The Road. Then go on down the rabbit hole of more than 160 videos of covers and originals. The fans (Home Fries 🍟) will follow!
I recommend making a reaction to one of the coolest female vocalists in the world. Diana Ankudinova - Queen of Goosebumps - Diana received such a title for her extraordinary unique voice. Diana's best performances - Derniere Danse, Wicked Game, Can't Help Falling in You Each of these speeches garnered over a thousand reactions. Diana is in the TOP 3 world vocalists in terms of the number of reactions (about 15 thousand reactions).
The coolest performance that will shock you and give you the biggest goosebumps! ua-cam.com/play/PLQJJG9TMmSOB4YXRUgdxA-H-Fo_sjB3kZ.html Protection of the video-image about partial blocking for some countries is preferable.
If your looking for one of the best live performances ever, find the CMA awards 2005 Chris Stapleton and Justin Timberlake doing Tennessee Whiskey/ Drink You Away with Morgane Stapleton, Chris wife singing backup.
Chris is phenomenal. Some others that aren’t quite country that you should check out are Jason Isbell (highest recommendation), Whiskey Myers and Cody Jinks.
I always thought no one would come close to Whitney.. Chris did.. he made it amazing... my Parents raised me to be proud of my country. I've made my children to be proud americans..But what I do know.... my father was racist.. 'I'm 56 yrs old and I truly didn't want to raise my children that way.. At some point and time. it has to stop.
A man and an old Stradocaster amp only. This forte is not for you. Maybe cooking or gardening. You just do not truly get it. Not to be mean but helpful. Try another.
Whoever was responsible for picking Chris Stapleton to sing the anthem deserves an immediate promotion and raise.
And there's no following that performance
Word
Yes!!
That's not enough, nominate them for Sainthood!
Even the Eagles couldn't follow up that performance.
Just how it should it be done, no BS, straight up respect for his country. Thanks Chris.
His voice sounds like America to me. If the flag could sing, this is what it would sound like.
Yeah, a little ragged, a bit torn and tattered, but still strong and controlled. Nailed it.
Completely agree.
You are absolutely right
You nailed it brother
There aren't a dozen singers as talented as him alive. Generational talent
best singer of our generation
One man, his guitar, and a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem! Thank you for the reaction!

This is probably my favorite version of this song!!!!! He did a great job! I wish they would of had him do The National Anthem for the Indy 500.
im a brit and i felt every single word he sang his voice is truly a gift form the gods
The greatest version ever it's best now
I don’t know about ya but I shed a tear at every sporting event during the National Anthem
He just blew Whitney Huston right outta the Water! The best I ever heard!
Chris frequently gives me Ray Charles vibes. He is a generational talent!

This is how the national anthem was intended to be sang.
He sounded like he was actually there.

With relative ease.

I agree with you analysis 100%.
Adele was at the Super Bowl, and when chris started singing just the first 2 words, her reaction was holy shit and thats saying something
Welcomed to the rabbit hole that is Chris Stapleton but.. You haven't heard his soul yet (I was wrong live) ( cold live). You are welcome 🤗

People died for this country to be free. 2023 this country has woshhhhhhhhhhh. By
Probably the best since whitney Houston
Whitney is over rated she didn’t even sing it live what a disgrace
Would like to recommend When I Get Where I'm Going by Brad Paisley and Dolly Parton ❤ God bless you and yours 🇺🇸
Beat out Whitney for me, he let the lyrics shine.
Best
Play Jimi Hendricks rendition of the star spangled banner at Woodstock with his guitar.
You really, really need to react to PENTATONIX. World class, gold standard of A Capella. You won't be disappointed.
We've recorded and tried to upload! Waiting on copyright clearance!
Definitely react to Chris Stapleton & Justin Timberlake 2015 CMT performance.❤
I do Barbells, an Chris is the best
Try Chris Stapleton and Fool me again...and.. Whiskey and you ♥️ 🎶
Whitney and Chris 1 and 1a, not sure which is 1. Both amazing!
He is a very close second. If his sells millions of copies and lands on the Billboard 100 list, maybe then he will be 1b.
Whitney's was pre-recorded unfortunately.
@@bettywallace3375 one was live and the other one was pre recorded lmao sorry but hers can’t be first, stop bringing up sales as an argument 🤭
The Both Of You Should React To Whitney Houston Singing The National Anthem At The Super Bowl In 1991.

You should watch Iam Tongi American idol audition
Feel bad for next year's performer having to follow up this performance!
Please do the video by Jelly Roll I Need A Favor or Save Me. He does not look like he sounds. A lot of people are prejudging him.
Please try David phelps
Don't interrupt it! Run it a second time if you want to pause for comment!
Please React To Whitney Houston Singing The National Anthem At The Super Bowl In 1991.
He was live. She lip synced.
Next years choice to sing the anthem is screwed. There's zero chance they reach this level of excellence.
Praying for your neck.
I know I’m late to the party but….. aren’t y’all American?

How disrespectful to pause the American anthem.
Subscribed until you paused. Super disrespectful.
because you kept interrupting it I did nt sub
Meh. It was there. No big deal. Heard much, much better, but have also heard worse. Overall, forgettable.
