As a long time fan I can honestly say, I love it WAY more when I see my fav pods combine for an episode. A tour with a bunch of my fav pods, ummmmm yes please. I like seeing crews come together more than tearing eachother down.

The back and forth between Ian and Rory highlights the void that is there with Mal sitting there like a bump on a log "looking cool". He's like Ice-T on Law & Order SVU, except he gets paid like a main/irreplaceable character.

Comedians have their own unique jokes, delivery, etc. Podcasters all talk about the same topics. Them collaborating brings little to no value unless you bring folks from diverse ranges of content. But 5 different society & culture platforms coming together is monotonous and probably boring… beefs are the only unique storylines for society & culture pods.

I get the impression of Ian believing the culture is something tangible that can be purchased. The heart and soul of hip-hop has always been something that belongs to the streets. Some of the roots of hip-hop have been built up from poverty for the people’s expression of struggle in poverty.
The rich have capitalized off of it and micromanaged it to believe they are in full control of it, and in some sense, have marketed it to just be this clean, inclusive, and charitable thing, but there’s a reason so many people don’t consider a Drake one of the greats as much as they consider a Wayne.
The big fish can posterize all they’d like, but in the very end, they can’t even mildly change or recreate a genuine feeling out of what they supposedly “own”, and definitely will have a hard time getting the older generations on board.
A vulture is a vulture, no matter how much money or power they get from vulturing. The rich don’t become less of vultures just because they saw the potential in backing an art form. The true owners will always be the originators.
Trying to replicate something without the soul is the death of the original concept.
