For me, the best anthems of the world are, in no particular order, Taiwan, New Zealand, Andorra, South Africa, but when I think about it, nothing really holds a candle to the simplistic beauty of the Dutch anthem. It's not over the top with fanfare and national drama, it's just a simple series of 4-verse phrases to a truly beautiful tune. That's what an anthem should be!

@@GoudLoodje Ouh really I think Kimigayo is not the Oldest because Kimigayo became Japan National Anthem since 1888 and Het Wilhelminus Became the Netherlands National anthem since around 1569 - 1572 and both anthem is ever Singing by Indonesian during Dutch Colonialization and Japanese Occupation 😅😅😅

@@ansosboy8687 It is, it just became a national anthem later. Kimigayo is about 1000 years old, while Het Wilhelmus was written around 1620, (40 years after Willem Van Oranje's death, the person where the song was written for as an honour to him)

Gestimuleerd door een wedstrijdje van het blad ARGUS heb ik met behoud van de wonderschone melodie, het Nederlands volkslied hertaald en daarbij ontdaan van onverkwikkelijke royalistische oranje-elementen. Maar wel, ere wie ere toekomt, opgedragen aan de vader des Vaderlands Willem van Nassou.
Daarnevens heb ik het van een pretentieuze treurtekst tot een loflied gemaakt op Nederland's tolerantie en vrijheid om in Nederland te mogen zijn, wie, of wat je ook bent, waar je ook vandaan komt:

Leuk gedaan. Consensus staat verkeerd gespeld. Kun je de tekst nog iets moderner maken? Woorden als Barmhartig, pais en vree, onverveerd, worden eigenlijk niet meer gebruikt. Verder vind ik dit een heel goed initiatief.

@@ronaldderooij1774 Mee eens, deze tekst is zeer bewust inclusief en veelomvattend: Concensus is verkeerd gespeld -het staat echter, ook voor dyslectici, de gezongen tekst niet in de weg. 'Barmhartig' klinkt archaisch en versterkt een historisch perspectief. Netzoals de contaminatie 'Pais en vree' reminicenties oproept aan de Franse Tijd aan het begin van de 19e eeuw, waar de elite zich van het Frans bediende en de burgerij zich sjiek wenste voor te doen.
'I love you' staat voor onze tolerantie ten opzichte van afkost en afwijkendheid.
Maar niet mateloos: 'Ik zal handhaven', waarschuwt onze wapenspreuk.
