The love story between the two is essential. Leon is mentally retarded so they are the same mental age.
The point behind the age difference is that she's a teenage girl who wants to be a woman and he is a grown man with the mental age of a child.
The Third Man is brilliant, one is the best films ever made. Black and white but very modern and an iconic zither soundtrack.
Really interesting point regarding Leons mental age! Just finished The Third Man, can tell it’s a classic.
