Jessica and her fiancé Eric could not be happier. They've just moved from the city into their dream home on a quiet suburban street. Soon after, Jessica catches her seemingly friendly new neighbor, Simon, in a strange lie and can't let her suspicions rest. The danger escalates when Simon lures her inside and imprisons her in his secret bunker, meticulously decorated in the idealized style of the 1950's. Here she meets Robin, a woman who's been held captive by Simon for several years and brutally brainwashed into living as his faithful companion - a fate that is now set for Jessica unless she can somehow find a way to escape from Simon’s time-warped prison.

Jessica fait alors la connaissance d’une femme, Robin, que Simon garde en captivité depuis plusieurs années et à qui il a réussi à faire croire, à la suite d’un lavage de cerveau, qu’il est son compagnon fidèle. Le même sort attend maintenant Jessica, à moins qu’elle ne trouve le moyen de s’enfuir.

I remember watching this movie with my grandmother who recently passed away.. I remember being scared of the suspense and she was like "It's nothing to be scared of, it always works out good in the end (of lifetime movies)" We ended up watching this movie 2 more times lol...

Extremely Clever OMG this movie has become one of my favorite movies! I seriously think it's better than some movies out in theaters! It's so creepy because this can actually happen! You heard of the Cleveland Abduction? Where this crazy man abducted 3 women for 11 years?!! Lifetime actually made a movie about it! I think lifetime will air it on Saturday May 9!

Loved this Movie. One of the Best Lifetime has done in a while. Great sets, Really good acting, creapy creapy creapy ! Definitely will be adding to my collection when it is available for purchase.

Not a bad flick. Courtney Ford is just wonderful in general. Everything about her. Drop dead gorgeous, super smart and sexy, and beyond likable and appealing. She has that it quality. Very surprised she didn't become a much bigger star.

I just saw this movie, "Kept Woman" on the Lifetime Network. That neighbor, Simon, was nuts. This was a memorable movie, but at the same time, I found this movie to be just as scary for women as "The Stepford Wives". This reminded me of "Stepford Wives". I don't think most women want to be treated the way Simon treated his women - locked up in a basement, dressing up in 50s or 60s outfits, just cooking for, waiting for, and serving their man. How unfulfilling and boring a life that would be for some women -waiting on hand and feet for the man. There is no equality in this. And today is International Women's Day. Sure, Simon was handsome, but at the same time, he was nuts, crazy, and stuck in the traditionalist - patriarchal-centered times. Plus, he killed people - man and woman in this movie. He's a kidnapper and murderer. Why would anyone have fantasies and have some crush on Simon? He kidnaps women and murders people and thinks that women should serve men - nothing fair or equal about his treatment to people.
I just found this "Kept Woman" movie to be very disturbing - as disturbing as "Stepford Wives". Some people think that "Aliens", "Predator", "Friday the 13th", "Halloween", etc. are scary movies. For me, "Stepford Wives" and "Kept Woman'' are more scary movies to me because this kind of stuff actually happens in real life - where some men treat women like this. Like Ariel Castro kidnapping women and having them trapped in his house in Ohio. Or like that "India's Daughter" documentary that many people are watching now on UA-cam about the tragic gang rape and murder of a female student in Delhi, India in 2012. Anyways, this movie serves as an informative and enlightening movie and warning for women to run for the hills when they see any man who is controlling or wanting to treat women as beneath them and not equal to them. And to run of the hills when some men say they want a woman to act like June Cleaver from "Leave it to Beaver".
You know the sad thing is that this is a reality for so many women. Not that they are necessarily "locked" in their homes, but being trapped in the life of a housewife. They have the husband who wants them to stay home and take care of the home, they deep down want to excel at a career but in a sense they are locked in their own homes.
Tasha Lynch Hi, Tasha. :-) I agree with what you wrote. I know that there are many women who gave up & sacrificed their jobs and their careers because their spouses or partners wanted someone to stay at home if they had children. In this movie, there are no children involved. The male professor in this movie just wanted the women to stay at home, period.
I've read comments from some men on other forums outside of UA-cam where they wanted the woman to be a stay at home wife or Mom. Then they made comments that this is like the best outcome because when the kids reach high school or college age, then the stay at home Moms can go back to work. One man said that the "world is their Oyster". My answer is - "How can the world be the woman's oyster when you had the woman give up a decade or two raising kids and staying at home while you were working and maintaining a career?" It's easy for the men who wanted their women staying at home to say that because they (the men) will always have jobs because they never had to sacrifice their jobs and careers.
Meanwhile, the world is not the woman's oyster because it will be harder and more difficult for the women who gave up their jobs and careers for a decade or two to transition back to the workplace because they lost skills, some didn't pursue a college education or training, some aren't up to date with the latest developments in jobs, fields, & careers, and some lost a decade or two of work & career experience.
When I was in Graduate School, one of my classmates worked with some women who were displaced homemakers. There are displaced homemakers programs for those women who were stay at home wives and Moms because their husbands died or their husbands chose to divorce them or they were being abused (domestic violence) and were unhappy in their marriages.
So, there are displaced homemakers training programs because there are some women out there who were so dependent on their husbands because their husbands liked it that way - their women being dependent on them - like the women in this movie - that they forgot or didn't learn how to be independent themselves and forgot what it was like to have a career and provide and fight for themselves.
You never know when a spouse is going to die, is going to leave you for another woman or someone else, wants a divorce, or is going to grow worse in personality and start controlling you more or abusing you. Women need to have a plan B in case things go wrong in the marriage. That's why it's sad when some women are "kept" in a house prison like this movie. @@tashalynch0218 What is wrong with being a housewife? So a woman who has a "career" is trying to think and act like a man. Then she ends up 45 with almost all her eggs dried up and she can't have children because she's too old, and she keeps saying " oh well, at least I'm free to be me" when she isn't at all. Housewives and homemakers were the thread of society.

A very good movie. Actually better than high budgeted A listers movies. Quite remindful of John Fowles’ The Collector (Miranda and Caliban). One more thing is the crazy resemblance between Simon and Kevin Federline, Evan and German youtuber Geremy Fragrances!!!

Just realized, by the yr of the other cmnts, that this is a few yrs old. Lol. Idl to look at the yr of movies. I say It taints my perspective. Two thumbs up!
Just watched this movie yesterday on Lifetime, thought it was a bad movie, but nonetheless got sucked into it. However, we paused it for dinner, and then it timed out and was unable to view the finish. Still haven't seen the ending, but thanks to a detailed description of the ending I just read, I'm all set for now. Surely there were many unrealistic things happening in the movie, but the key thing is the opening statement that it was "inspired" by a true story. From there it strayed far from the Cleveland event. I know it's a movie, but how flawed was it that Simon mentioned he had called Jessica and they did not seem to investigate or confirm that he had. All today's cop shows would have been all over that in a second.
At the end Jessica's boyfriend comes and Simon attacks him Jessica watches the TV and tried to get out once she does she grabs a fire hydrant and hits his head with it then Simon slaps her at the very end Jessica meets Simon while Simon is in jail she gives him her book and says see was acting all along she never loved Simon. Jessica them leaves the room. Simon looks at the women in front of the book concert and then kisses her
