@@recipoldinasty I buy them, I have a Ford Fusion titanium from 2014 with 190 thousand miles on it, no major repairs ever needing to be done. My brother has a 2008 f-150 crew cab V8 4x4 with 240,000 miles on it, only ever needing to replace his transmission at 110,000 which was 1,800 USD.

They also help produce the best selling electric car... granted its a 4.5k piece of $#!T that can only go 70 mph and 50 miles on a charge, but honestly that would cover 85% of American's daily driver needs. But honestly it has sold more in China than Tesla has worldwide.

I saw this truck at a trade show two years ago. At the time I was an applications engineer for another truck company (hint, they're swedish and begin with a V), I took a look around this thing and immediately called BS to their marketing team on the floor with it. They were claiming that it was a ready to work production model but couldn't answer basic questions about safety, functionality, or serviceability. Basic questions that customers would be asking if they expected to buy one.

I like how Nikola claimed they build "Functioning", "Fully Built" & "In Motion" Prototype without explaining how the prototype powered itself. I mean it's technically true that it seems fully built by making the entire 3D model, functioning by making the lights turn on or in motion by let it roll down the hill. He sold a car that would “get 80 miles to a gallon”. Lots of people ordered them. It literally didn’t have an engine, or any other part of the drivetrain. It was made of self tapping screws, plywood and elmers glue.

If safety wasn't a concern they probably could have updated the platform with current electronic drive trains as they had a Drag Co-efficent that beats out Model 3's.

The whole hardcore push for pure EV (meaning battery powered) is a bad move in any case, but definitely a bad move for trucks. That said, what DOES make absolutely all the sense in the world is to have trucks running a diesel engine as a generator but using electric motors for the drivetrain. You bypass all the problems current batteries have but still take advantage of the incredible torque that's always on demand. That's the right way to do things until we get the battery shit sorted out.
They should make EV-school buses. Most are locate driving for a short area and have local government contracts with ESG clauses.

If I've learned anything studying business it's that these stories of fraud aren't unusual but rather common to every company most just don't get caught and go on to eventually become legitimate by faking it till they get enough funding to become real. Even then they still commit shady illegal practices.

GM knows that companies that have a stake in another company don't necessarily get associated with that company. When people think of Daiwoo they don't think of GM.
Part 2, The Tesla semi that still hasn't been turned over to it's customers for fleet testing with only 2 prototypes after three years. Meanwhile Paccar, Daimler, Volvo and Hyliion have all introduced their preproduction prototypes for fleet testing.
Pretty simple. People do not want Electric modes of transportation for their own personal use. NEXT.

People will always need transport, but personal car ownership may go down in future, which will hurt GM a lot, since millennials & forward generations will have less money than previous generations.

We built the best GM cars in the world, period. GM still hasn't made even a single product as good as VE since.
I still think they should have kept Pontiac to use as the United States Holden line. The GTO and G8 where the best things, outside of the Firebird, Pontiac had in quite awhile. If they was still around I think the Chevy SS would had been a Pontiac.

Sounds alot like what was going on with workhorse corp. based out of lordstown motors (An old GM plant) now rebranded as Ride.

It is very hard to imagine GM could be suckered by someone less sophisticated than anyone that has ever crossed their doorstep.
I honestly think GM means to keep Nikola as a brand to sell their Hydrogen technology in semis and pick-ups. You also have to keep in mind GM has not actually supplied anything of monetary value yet and, at this point, likely not ever. With their "foot in the door", GM could literally just acquire Nikola as a Intellectual property and not have spent a actual dime.
Nikolas has no intellectual properties. Even their design patents was a fraud.

And for patents, you need to demonstrate that the "invention" works, not just a drawing on a piece of paper. Therefore more than likely all patents filed by Nikolas (if any) are fraudulent as well.
What you have left is a name, a logo, some pissed off employees with a really bad company list on their future resume (more than likely they would leave that blank, or "self-employed").
The entire deal was done by former GM board member Steven Girsky, how that mother fucker isn't under investigation yet is beyond me. He's the one who sold the deal to GM, and created a company specifically designed to do a reverse merger with Nikolas thus allowing them to be instantly listed on the Nasdaq. All the while by-passing all scrutiny normally required for newly listed companies. Its a loophole exploits by many (ie: Virgin Galactic with Social Capital). That frankly needs to banned.

Either Mr. Steven Girsky and team are grossly incompetent, and truly were duped by a con-ma. Or (more than likely), knew Trevor Milton was a crooked and allowed him/them to fuck over the investors and ensure Trevor was the only fall guy. GM has nothing to gain from this deal, other than yet another failure to their long list of screw ups.
Interesting coincidence that the guy gets outed by his own cousin, only for GM to plant a new exec. Looks like a coup to me. That would be fascinating. I would imagine that they did their research and found a punk kid with a list of potential buyers. Tanked the kid, kept the buyers.

@@myousickoflife for a product to be successful, it has to be profitable and viable for mass production. The EV was neither of those. Thus it was a failure. If they would’ve expanded the program nationwide, and continued development on the Gen II batteries and had a couple different body styles, it would’ve *actually* been successful. In all actuality, I wouldn’t be surprised if the development cost per EV1 was understated on the financial reports to not spook investors, it was probably one of the leading factors to GMs bankruptcy.

14:43 GM doesn't need another EV branch. They could already produce the Bolt, the Volt and can actually produce vehicles. They aren't even "late to the game", the Volt's been around for some time. The Spark EV was around for years, as an experiment for them.
I love GM! they really know how to make turbo engine and keep repairs in mind when designing stuff. They also made the most amazing northstar engine. that company is full of integrity and pride and didn't use bailout money for bonuses
