I lost my job once and went to the job centre there were many many many many ways of making it extremely difficult for anyone who isn't a British Citizen to receive those benefits. The maximum amount of EU citizen can recieve benefits are 3 months. Bare in mind, the people working in these centres are extremely uneducated on EU law and I had to argue with them many times because I WAS A PERMANENT RESIDENT having lived/worked and graduated in Britain (15 years). The laws are discriminatory if anything. This myth that immigrants get benefits or jobs easier than a native is an absolute fucking lie considering most employers are ENGLISH/British. Nobody gives a fuck if you're ENGLISH if youre shit at your job. VALUE is what an employer looks for. That makes a business work properly. You do realise in the UK the taxi industry is regulated by each city's own sets of rules! In Merseyside (Liverpool) where I'm from, there are 4 different Boroughs and their rules and regulations on getting your badge are wildly contrasting and in 2009 I had to find a way to raise the funds to get my badge, whilst several immigrants on my course got the whole thing free! There is an enormous over supply in the unskilled labour market which has kept working class wages down, Ive been waiting on a council house now for 6 years there is that much demand and immigrants with families who come in go above me on the list so ive basically no chance of getting a council house, Our A and E is regularly packed and you have to wait 4-5 hours, NHS dentist you have no chance and private dentist takes weeks to get an appointment and doctors surgery isnt as bad but it still takes days, good school places are very hard to get and our primary has had to extend 3 times already, unskilled jobs for the teenagers to get a start in life are very hard to get and its not a coincidence youth unemployment has doubled since we had open borders and we simply cannot continue letting anyone from Europe come and settle here, You cant blame immigrants for wanting to come here and better themselves and most i know are nice, genuine hard working people, i also know some who have came here and worked the benefits system and you should not be allowed to get housing or benefits until youve worked and paid in here for at least 5 years for me, although i dont believe its a high percentage regarding benefits but the numbers coming in are unsustainable and it has to have some form of control. It was never a major issue before for me.

I can believe that his account is factual. The Somalian population near me receive £50,000 to open businesses in the area. They are also given new cars and help with rent and child support. They are literally given money. The same advantage is not given to the indigenous white British people.
Immigration is definitely getting a raw deal of late and people seem to think the problems will go away if we had no immigration, it's being used as a scapegoat for other political means, chances are if we didn't have immigration, many jobs would leave the country and how many would be willing to do some of those jobs because we already know it's usually jobs not many of us want to do or it's low paid work, that's the problem, it's a double edge sword.

Now that I have disproved any theory of immigrants being economically damaging, the only other argument against immigration is one referring to sovereignty (a nice way of saying xenophobia or racism) in which case there is no point arguing as you must clearly be ignorant or prejudiced. When I was in university David Aaronovitch was a communist. Did you notice he used the phrase "Jewish East End" - what made the East End of London Jewish if not unwelcome immigration? The people of this country have never been asked whether they want immigrants and they have never been invited to offer their opinion rather party leaders decide what they should think. Tories make out that if there is an economic case for immigration then their hands are tied - it has to occur, as if the people have to change for the good of the economy. I love the BBC for many of the programmes it has made - but politically they are very biased and ensure the audience is heavily weighted toward the liberal camp (they have even been accused of "planting" political activists - UA-cam videos a'plenty on that point). Plus, many of the guests - like the panellists - are removed from the problems which the majority are complaining about. "Lord" Heseltine - lives in a castle and in 2004 had a net worth of £250 million. I guess he doesn't send his kids to local schools crammed with non-English speaking kids and wait for months for NHS treatment - who have to deal with immigrants (who like to have big families - nothing wrong with that, but I don't see why I should pay for it, nor my children suffer).

Jobs aren't 'stolen', whoever gets a job gets a job and if anything, immigrants are discriminated against in this country regarding employment. Being an indigenous person doesn't give you a right to a job, it's like getting into university, you get in if you got a good personal statement and the required grades, if you miss it and an immigrant gets them, you can't expect to be granted free entry because you're indigenous. What most of you people here don´t realize is the simple fact that a British Citizen should have the right by LAW to get the Job BEFORE any foreign immigrant. As long as a local person want the Job and has the qualification to do it, he has ABSOLUTE priority. Law was changed and now the unemployment office is offering you Jobs within your qualification, regardless of your income "wish". If you reject 3 of their Kob offers, they simply stop paying. It´s always better to accept a Job and while employed, look for a better one. What we talk about here is the situation where local people WANT to work, but get kicked off because of a cheaper competition from Eastern Europe. That must be stopped under all circumstances all over Europe. I was in that situation by myself. I used to live in Spain for 15 years. I was driving Lorries and Spain was in big demand of drivers that time. I had a 160m2 4 bedroom Apartment on the Beach and all was fine...until the Romanians and Bulgarians invaded Spain. They showed up in groups in our office, asking how much the drivers earn. My Boss that time said he doesn´t need any drivers. The Romanian spokesman said - Really? No matter how much you pay your drivers, we drive for half of their Salary. 2 Month later all drivers were replaced by Romanians. I was desperately looking for a new Job but all Jobs were occupied by Romanians and /or Bulgarians. Within 17 Month, I couldn´t find a Job and after my unemployment money ran out, I couldn´t pay the mortgage anymore any had to go back to Germany while that Romanian Scum happily is still sitting in Spain. That´s also a reason why in some Spanish Regions the unemployment is incredible high. The Bank took my Apartment that was almost paid off and I lost over 200.000€ thanks to such a liberal Immigration Law for Eastern Europe. I had to leave, not them! But I must admit that my unemployment officer tried to help me and offered me a Job. I was there together with a Spanish colleague who had 3 little kids and I told the officer exactly the same. HE is a Spanish Citizen. HE has priority here and I gave him the Job. The East extension of the EU was the biggest mistake they could have done. Italy and Greece face the same problems. The only solution for quite wealthy countries like Great Britain, Germany etc is to get out of the EU as soon as possible and follow National Law and not that Crap they produce in Brussels. If you think that anyone that comes to the UK has more rights to a UK resident you are an utter idiot. I have a permanent right to reside in the UK, my mum is a British Citizen. I lost my job once and went to the job centre there were many many many many ways of making it extremely difficult for anyone who isn't a British Citizen to receive those benefits. The maximum amount of EU citizen can recieve benefits are 3 months. Bare in mind, the people working in these centres are extremely uneducated on EU law and I had to argue with them many times because I WAS A PERMANENT RESIDENT having lived/worked and graduated in Britain (15 years).
The laws are discriminatory if anything. This myth that immigrants get benefits or jobs easier than a native is an absolute fucking lie considering most employers are ENGLISH/British. You do realise in the UK the taxi industry is regulated by each city's own sets of rules! In Merseyside (Liverpool) where I'm from, there are 4 different Boroughs and their rules and regulations on getting your badge are wildly contrasting and in 2009 I had to find a way to raise the funds to get my badge, whilst several immigrants on my course got the whole thing free! I became friends with a couple of them, lovely people and in no way was I hating on them because they got their training and badges for free, but was angry and bemused by the governments treatment of UK nationals in need, compared to immigrants in need.

There is an enormous over supply in the unskilled labour market which has kept working class wages down, Ive been waiting on a council house now for 6 years there is that much demand and immigrants with families who come in go above me on the list so ive basically no chance of getting a council house, Our A and E is regularly packed and you have to wait 4-5 hours, NHS dentist you have no chance and private dentist takes weeks to get an appointment and doctors surgery isnt as bad but it still takes days, good school places are very hard to get and our primary has had to extend 3 times already, unskilled jobs for the teenagers to get a start in life are very hard to get and its not a coincidence youth unemployment has doubled since we had open borders and we simply cannot continue letting anyone from Europe come and settle here, You cant blame immigrants for wanting to come here and better themselves and most i know are nice, genuine hard working people, i also know some who have came here and worked the benefits system and you should not be allowed to get housing or benefits until youve worked and paid in here for at least 5 years for me, although i dont believe its a high percentage regarding benefits but the numbers coming in are unsustainable and it has to have some form of control. It was never a major issue before for me.

When I was in university David Aaronovitch was a communist. Did you notice he used the phrase "Jewish East End" - what made the East End of London Jewish if not unwelcome immigration? The people of this country have never been asked whether they want immigrants and they have never been invited to offer their opinion rather party leaders decide what they should think. Tories make out that if there is an economic case for immigration then their hands are tied - it has to occur, as if the people have to change for the good of the economy. I quite agree that audience and panel were by and large appalling. Of course they are not a true representation of Britain as is the case for most bbc programming...
I love the BBC for many of the programmes it has made - but politically they are very biased and ensure the audience is heavily weighted toward the liberal camp (they have even been accused of "planting" political activists - UA-cam videos a'plenty on that point).
Plus, many of the guests - like the panellists - are removed from the problems which the majority are complaining about. "Lord" Heseltine - lives in a castle and in 2004 had a net worth of £250 million. I guess he doesn't send his kids to local schools crammed with non-English speaking kids and wait for months for NHS treatment - who have to deal with immigrants (who like to have big families - nothing wrong with that, but I don't see why I should pay for it, nor my children suffer).
And who would my own be last time i checked im a human being why should I look out more for one group of people over another because they were born somewhere different

I think it says something though. I don't know whether this was always the case, but this guy seems to think it is based on his personal history. Jobs aren't 'stolen', whoever gets a job gets a job and if anything, immigrants are discriminated against in this country regarding employment. Being an indigenous person doesn't give you a right to a job, it's like getting into university, you get in if you got a good personal statement and the required grades, if you miss it and an immigrant gets them, you can't expect to be granted free entry because you're indigenous. Jobs are about having skills for them, not being from a certain colour.

Do you think it's fair that the doors should essentially open for everyone and anyone to move in to the extreme that there is a 200% increase leaving children without school places and adults without jobs and for the government to turn a blind eye and anyone who even questions this in a reasonable and educated way is shot down as a racist or bigot or ignorant without an actual reasonable response. I am yet to hear/read an educated reply to the mans questions, only bitching and moaning that it shouldn't have been said. Nobody is blaming the immigrants, this isn't some mob movement with pitchforks in hand and burning torches. The government is to blame and something needs to be done, the way people seem to react to addressing the problem of immigration is the immediate association with bigoted views and that by some means we mean to send anyone who is not indigenous back when that is not the case. Stop immigration until employment rates are back to normal and the indigenous population is fully taken care off, because at the moment we aren't and in some places there voices are quickly becoming the minority, silenced and hushed at the mention of immigration.

What most of you people here don´t realize is the simple fact that a British Citizen should have the right by LAW to get the Job BEFORE any foreign immigrant. As long as a local person want the Job and has the qualification to do it, he has ABSOLUTE priority. Only in case nobody applies or is qualified for a Job, then a foreigner or Immigrant can be the next choice. And don´t worry...my Country is facing exactly the same Problems with low price workers from Romania and Bulgaria.

portsanity I get your point and we had the same problem here in Germany. Also with people who don´t want to work. Law was changed and now the unemployment office is offering you Jobs within your qualification, regardless of your income "wish". If you reject 3 of their Kob offers, they simply stop paying. It´s always better to accept a Job and while employed, look for a better one.
What we talk about here is the situation where local people WANT to work, but get kicked off because of a cheaper competition from Eastern Europe. That must be stopped under all circumstances all over Europe.
I was in that situation by myself. I used to live in Spain for 15 years. I was driving Lorries and Spain was in big demand of drivers that time. I had a 160m2 4 bedroom Apartment on the Beach and all was fine...until the Romanians and Bulgarians invaded Spain. They showed up in groups in our office, asking how much the drivers earn. My Boss that time said he doesn´t need any drivers. The Romanian spokesman said - Really? No matter how much you pay your drivers, we drive for half of their Salary.
2 Month later all drivers were replaced by Romanians. I was desperately looking for a new Job but all Jobs were occupied by Romanians and /or Bulgarians. Within 17 Month, I couldn´t find a Job and after my unemployment money ran out, I couldn´t pay the mortgage anymore any had to go back to Germany while that Romanian Scum happily is still sitting in Spain. That´s also a reason why in some Spanish Regions the unemployment is incredible high. The Bank took my Apartment that was almost paid off and I lost over 200.000€ thanks to such a liberal Immigration Law for Eastern Europe. I had to leave, not them! But I must admit that my unemployment officer tried to help me and offered me a Job. I was there together with a Spanish colleague who had 3 little kids and I told the officer exactly the same. HE is a Spanish Citizen. HE has priority here and I gave him the Job.
The East extension of the EU was the biggest mistake they could have done. Italy and Greece face the same problems. The only solution for quite wealthy countries like Great Britain, Germany etc is to get out of the EU as soon as possible and follow National Law and not that Crap they produce in Brussels. IN GB, ENGLISH people first and in Germany GERMAN people first. You and me might consider that as the most normal thing. But with that opinion and my Nationality, Ißm very often called a Nazi for that. Sad enough.
