One does not simply stand still when listening to their music! Last night I went to one of their concerts in Poland and the crowd was full of sick energy :D
I downloaded this CD from Itunes this weekend and have been playing it over and over and over and over and over, I can't get enough. There's something about this band that easily sucks you in.
So I was determined this song couldn't sound good live, but I stand corrected. He's brilliant. It sounds completely different than the radio version, yet just as amazing.
of course it won't sound as good as the studio version, it's been recorded several times and editted. this is amazing for a live performance and he looks extremely tired, so he deserves a lot of credit
This song is about mental illness in teens. 1. Columbine. 2. In a scene from the 0 Day film (Footage from shooters of school.) The shooters find the dad of one of the shooters gun in his closet. 3. Robert relates to Robert W Hawkins.
I don't know where exactly it will place, but this band will go down in history. Extremely catchy music. Hopefully the next album is as good as the first.
nice sound and the best Band in this year... the arrangement of the Guitar's remember me to Roxie Music of Brian Ferry... It's nice to have you in the show ;-))
Ok I went to the show of foster the people today and it was the best show of all my life. You all need to go to one of their show ; it's amazing how they are good -3
This is the best live version I've found. Mark has more power in his voice. I wish he sung with even more power though and especially with more darkness. The song is about a kid who gets bullied and is losing his mind and planning retaliation. He said he wanted to get in that kid's head in this song, getting the kid's perspective. IMO it would be better if he sung from the kid's perspective too with more anger, power, and darkness in his voice.
No one knew this song back then most bands tend to go super famous the week after southby. Not necessarily always because of it but it always feels that way that well go see someone and then the next few months they top the charts
These guys are better in person then on the cd great I love them they make you feel good amazing than you Jesus you gave them to us for a gift and group love also we Love you Foster the People saw you in Los Angeles at the Wiltern Im 53 years old and thought I would be the only one at that age but people in all age groups were there amazing thank you so much your make the old feel young!!!!!! you are POWERFUL dont change every band cant do that these days!!!!!!!!!!
Mark Foster explained the song's meaning to Spinner UK: "'Pumped Up Kicks' is about a kid that basically is losing his mind and is plotting revenge. He's an outcast. I feel like the youth in our culture are becoming more and more isolated. It's kind of an epidemic. Instead of writing about victims and some tragedy, I wanted to get into the killer's mind, like Truman Capote did in In Cold Blood. I love to write about characters. That's my style. I really like to get inside the heads of other people and try to walk in their shoes." Foster says he considered writing the song from the perspective of the victim, but felt that would be a cop out. He also points out that there is no actual violence in the song, as the threats are all the kid's internal monologue.
actually I personally like music that can express great feelings and it just doesnt took nothing from my heart, but some kind of sadness. aww if the lyrics where different I would totally had loved.
I'm 54 years old and heard this tune on the radio for the first time Saturday and I LOVE IT! I think it's the catchy tune that makes my toes tap. :)
I love this song too!
im 83 and luv it 2. peace

They held it together I thought considering there were two major technical goofs with instruments
Seeing these on the 25th April! Cannot wait!
This is the musically tightest live sound since INXS. Especially their cut "Houdini".
Mark Foster is a legend. Enough said.
of course it won't sound as good as the studio version, it's been recorded several times and editted. this is amazing for a live performance and he looks extremely tired, so he deserves a lot of credit
