We need to get the Hologram back, the screen isn't the same and takes out the illusion of the experience. Lets hope SEGA and organizers get their act together.
SEGA is, or was, completely involved for most of the concerts, as is their subsidiary , Marza Animation Planet. Back in 2010-2012, for the 39s, Sega did animations and rendering on the RingEdge using Project Diva Arcade, and for the Mikupa, Marza Animation Planet used their own models and animations presumably rendered with traditional animation software. Source: 39's Giving Day 2012 bonus disc. I'm sure many things have changed since then, but Sega is still very much involved in Miku concerts due to their Project Diva games which greatly enhance Miku's popularity.

@@lyeias I don't think it was ever a proper hologram. it was a rear-projection on a transluscent screen. You can really see it on some of the earlier Magical Mirai shows (2012, 2013, thereabouts) when the stage arrangement had the bassist behind the screen, and you could see him thru the Vocaloids at times. Things got much more believable when they figured out to make sure all the musicians were staged to the sides of the screen! 😀
Ok so as someone who went to miku expo 2024 who was planning on trying Coachella just to see miku I'm glad I didn't cause this is basically all the songs miku sang at miku expo (in the same order btw) except for Magical Cure Love Shot which is was the contest winner song. Anyway thanks for sharing! Sounds like there were a lot of idol fans in the crowd 😊
It's really sad that you filmed this better than the people running the event.. Even though the LED was a disappointment and the filming was kind of a disaster, I'm glad she got to perform in America. I really wish I can see her some day
Yeah, why was she stuck in Cyberspace? She usually appears live at her concerts, it's so sad not to see her on the stage like usual. Like what's so hard about getting a projector and the kind of glass they usually use, it's probably the same cost as that screen anyway.
Well, if that camera man didn't keep passing in front, you could buy a 75$ video projector and put this video on it and project it onto mosquito netting for a DIY concert at home, then again the cameraman could add to that live concert realism if he's part of the holographic show, hmmm

Any small jolts could fracture glass of that sizes. Plus weight and volume in the truck. LEDs are able to be disassembled and stored in Road cases and stacked for space. The Projectors Are super expensive The lens alone can run on the low side of 5 grand. B) As part of the stage crew, I nor anyone else wants to be responsible for moving a 20 foot sheet of glass from a Semi, across a venue, and up onto a stage. If you break it, the company gets charged the cost and that comes back at you. C) Realistically LEDs are cheaper, if any pixel die they can swap out small sections, and are cheaper to run. where these Projectors run somewhere around 1700 watts on the low side. each panel runs at a max of 120W, with 70% of the panels running nothing almost the entire show its likely a lot cheaper
@@onidaaitsubasa4177 I'd think the big TV screen could be set up by roadies in a few minutes, as where the hologram stuff needs techs that have trained on specialized projection equipment to get the effect working. They're just being way too cheap to do what's needed for staffing supporting the event.

I am glad to see they using Magical Mirai 2020 mocap for Unknown Mother Goose which Miku imitate wowaka's live performance. No matter what Unknown Mother Goose will always be one of my favourite songs ever.
I'm not sure it's the same mo-cap, and it's definitely a new animation, and it dropped the initial guitar jam. She's also not using the ESP signature model guitar she had in 2020 😀
I love the bass player of the accompanying band so much, the band as a whole is really damn good, I hope I'll get tickets to a proper Mikuexpo one day.
I was watching this on stream from Japan. Not only Miku and the band members's s performance was incredible, but also I was so impressed when I heard the audience screaming "one more song" over and over again at 44:30😭😭😭
Its fun seeing the differences between Japanese and American crowds. Of course both love Miku, but for Americans its normal to be a bit more rowdy at concerts so they express it very loudly 😂 You should see some of the recordings of the American Miku Expo shows-- since its ALL Miku fans there, people go wild with the cheering and chanting

This is interesting to compare to my Phoenix VIP perspective of Miku Expo. Miku at Coachella did always seem like a risk because its performance is with non-Miku fans as well. As a performance that’s only geared toward good-vibes and inspirational songs from multiple artists, it’s jarring to hear how QUIET the VIP section is. But that’s okay too. Not everyone is going to be into the same things as you are. What we do share as a collective is the ability to understand and relate to one another through similar circumstances. I do listen to “regular” music but nothing has ever inspired me as much as Vocaloid ever has. Well, that’s my perspective anyway. What did you think of Miku at Coachella? 😮
I agree with your general sentiment! I’ve loved Miku since 2008 and just went to my first Miku concert in LA 2 days ago! I loved the vibes and community and even though it was a LED screen and not hologram, I had so much fun! My coworker is going to Coachella tomorrow and she’s never listened to Miku before and that makes me nervous, but the thought that it’s okay that not everyone is going to be into her is a healthy one 😊 and who knows, maybe she’ll be into Miku by the end of the night or at least be more open to the idea of voice synthesizer music! everyone has different interests and it’s those exact things that make us all unique, but we’re all connected by music, no matter the language or genre ☺️ music transcends borders therefore Miku is intergalactic haha 🩵🩵🩵
I have yet to see Miku live (fingers crossed that I manage to grab a ticket for Magical Mirai 2024!) but I think, screen aside, this was the best possible setlist that they could've prepared for Coachella! I'm really happy with the selection of songs they went with to represent Miku and the Vocaloid scene to outsiders hahaha. Like you've got heavy metal with Utsu-P, garage band sound with Wowaka, and KIRA and CircusP, who are very western pop-influenced and arguably have the best Miku English tuning skill in the scene. I couldn't have asked for a better setlist given the time constraints, tbh. Maybe switch out Amanaguchi Miku for something else, probably lol. The crowd at Coachella apparently also really liked her for both weeks, so it looks like it paid off!

just saw the show in denver, they got their shit together for that one. they still used the screen, but they had the stage lights and decor built up around it so it looked right
