Handy bit of diagnosis on the fuel system.Like the methodical approach in isolating different sections and doing separate tests. Will be testing my own engine soon and will try and adopt the same technique.
Great work and diagnostics on isolating the fuel pressure drop Tom. And having that valve on the gauge really helped too along with installing rubber hoses back at the pump. Keep up the good work!
All the big channels made it here before me. (ha ah) Those guys are quick. Great work on that one. I recently had a similar issue and the fuel pressure gauge put me on the right track.
I know every situation is different, and the same symptoms can be caused by different things, but you might've just done my troubleshooting for me on my mk7. Once, last week, the car cranked much longer than usual, but sounded like it really wanted to fire. It did fire, but it took it about 2-3 seconds. Then, earlier this week, it happened again. Now, today leaving work was the 3rd time. I'm really thinking my LPFP is ready to kick the bucket. Surprising at only 29k.
with your tiny PSI gage, in your videos you keep asking 'I don't know if you can see but... ' then you go check your little screen ... with that huge gage be sure we can see :p
NO, that is for People that work in the Mountains, So if you accidentally drop it down a mountain side that giant bumper around the gauge will insure that the gauge keeps working LOL
Naw dude, it's shaped like a ball so they can play while they build the cars being shipped to the dumbo American sss, let's get Americans, they'll buy it. Even if we sell 100,000 cars, we made our money... Play ball.. big unit.. errr
V.A.G 1318... there's my 318 curse! Your other video (the one with ScannerDanner had 318 in the VIN (last 3 digits)... I still have to finish watching that one! =)
I've been seeing 318 all over... customer phone numbers, license plates, odometer, in videos, in tv commercials, movies etc. Has been going on for quite a few years. Check my instagram account for pictures & videos. EXOVCDS user name.
Positive Lead Diagnostics Some of my instagram followers have sent pictures to me... of them having looked at their odometer and seeing 318. I guess it is contagious! =(
Excellent diagnosis Tom... What's up with that huge cover on the gauge?I guess Wika Knows euro techs would drop the gauge from time to time ahhhh.Lol....
@@PositiveLeadDiagnostics check engine light is on all the mechanic told me before he return the car to me after he did a valve and timing chain job on the car that when he scans it to see why there is no power to any of the coils coming from the harness connectors all he gets is a open circuit but he said he alreado check all fuses and wires and everything is ok no blown fuses or pinch wires the car turn over and everything but since there is no pulse going to the coils it wont start
I know that it has a few powers and grounds also the sending unit gauge goes through it, it controls power and ground to the pump, I believe it pulses the ground side, and I know it receives a square wave from the ecm, I'm just not 100% sure if its lin
@@CorruptSec I’m hearing a lot of ppl having different fixes for the same issue 😂I bought a crank sensor online and am waiting for it to arrive. If that don’t work I’m changing the pump next. God bless you man
Great job. The best diagnostic I have seen so far. Thank you

Bro that is the craziest gauge I've ever seen. That thing looks like it could withstand an atomic bomb blast!
Many thanks. Replaced battery and plugs Then discovered this Fixed Now instant start subscribed
Good work that's a heck of a safety Guage. That's diagnosis at its best breaking the system down into pieces
GDI diag can be super simplified by breaking her down into the high and low and going from there ! great video . Short simple and a valuable lesson !
Great diag Tom !
thanks for supporting!!
Very quick and concise diagnostic technique. Great Job 👍

Good tip on splicing a hose between the fittings for crimping purposes!
Huge difference with the new pump! Nice work. Thanks!
Scannerdanner crew checking in. looking forward to your vids bro. so far i like what I see. Spread the knowledge.
Why do all the guys down there sound like SoCal surfers? Great diagnosis and great video ! Looking forward to the next one
Nice diagnosis & repair Tom
thanks for supporting!!
Excellent video. Hit the nail on the head man. Thanks!
Jeeeeez is that fuel pressure gauge for checking panzer tanks during battle?
New to the channel, loving the videos. Way to keep it simple on this diag.
Very well done, Tom.

Great Video and Diagnosis.
Cool video Tom. Just make them longer 😎
What is it with you guys and fuel pumps Lol. Great work Tom!
Fantastic job from London .
What the heck is up with that psi gauge? It's huge!

I'm not sure why the gauge is made like that, all the vw gauges look like that, maybe your right and they are on mountain tops
run over the germans??? why

will do! thanks!
great tips great vid
nice vídeo Tom
nice! seein the subscriber count go up. I subscribed at 20
Excellent video
I have a similar issue with my VW Polo is it ok not to repair it since it is just the first start which is having the issue
So, how much did that diagnosis and repair end up costing the customer?
You definitely need an assistant man :) Would make your life so much easier !
that's for sure
Nice job!
good job!!
Were are your connecting your low pressure garage
Which lines of the low pressure system
the gauge is connected in the fuel supply line that goes to the filter which goes to the high psi fuel pump
Is this at the front????? I know we're u connected at the back
Thanks
I was connected up front under the hood at first, then moved to the top of the low side fuel pump
Excellent diagnosis Tom...
What's up with that huge cover on the gauge?I guess Wika Knows euro techs would drop the gauge from time to time ahhhh.Lol....
nice video
Could this cause misfires?
Good job 👏
Bro have a 2009 jetta i engine cranks and turns over but i have no spark coming to any of the coils all fuses are good any ideas what if could be
Any codes? Do you have control to the coils? Does the check engine light light up

Cam sensor and crank sensor inputs ok?
What is the function of the module that sits next to the low pressure pump?
fuel pump control module, this low side pump is a pulse width modulated pump
Thanks, is the module beeing controled via a CAN-network? or LIN?
I think its on a lin, I will get back to you on that

Ok, no problem mate. Just curious how this setup works. Thanks for the explanation
does this also mean the car dont have full horse power on wot ?
This what I’m starting to think about mine. It’s drives good but can struggle at low rpm at times
@@FZERO20 i have replaced my lpfp this solved all my problems. got my power back and starting issues are gone.

Wow
If you said you were at Lou tours Auto with Pete the owner, I would think your scannerdanner.
Haha I just did
man if this customer thinks this is an extended crank he would blow a gasket in my 94 b3000 lol
When I first verified the complaint it wouldn't start. The video didn't show it that well
5 B A R ! ! !
I'm going to give you a thumbs down just so you have one :-)
