As two guys who both grew up loving our youth group (and eventually both worked in youth ministry for a season!), this video was all-too-easy to write. Hope you all enjoy!

@@derek4412 I can’t speak for anyone else, but it messed with my mind. I’m 32 now and I still can’t look at women and expect one to fall out of heaven. It’s absolute Bologna that the evangelical church pushed a book written by a 20 something
I flipped through it after I had been married to see what it was about. 🤷🏼♀️ A valuable life lesson I was taught was to not take one resource and make it the center of my universe. It’s sad to me that many people have such negative reviews, but I truly do see the value in not dating around. I was taught about courtship since I was little and I’ve watched many people go through it successfully. 🤷🏼♀️
Yeah I read that book when I was still a Christian in my 20s and it even seemed a little too restrictive and "let God find them for you" even then. Now that I'm not a Christian I think it's actively harmful.
I received 14 copies of that book the year it came out.

I remember one time we had a scavenger hunt/race around town, just split up into 6-7 groups that drove around and had to video different things off a sheet. I remember one was to go into burger kind and ask for a Big Mac because their slogan is have it your way.
When we got back we watched everyone’s videos.... fun activity, but wildly dangerous in hindsight

I Kissed Dating Goodbye was everywhere when I was in middle and high school. Is that not a thing anymore? I always thought it was kinda messed up, so I'm glad Jake's character was implying that it's not pushed on kids now.

I was part of the Chacha slide generation. Before everyone had cellphones but after everyone had an email. My son is the now generation. This made me laugh so hard because of all the truth.

I just started going to youth group. Yesterday, they had a talent show and I won 4th by playing Freebird. I'm not sure if that is more like your "then" or "now" but it was a good time.
The dancing from both of u just really made me laugh.

@@monamarie1984 Because a bunch of people who read the book apparently internalized the idea that sex was so bad and shameful, that it actually negatively impacted their marriage (!)
@@maryannvalerio9869 when I read it I just thought - oh okay, I should only date someone that I could see a future with. It actually helped me not waste time on guys who weren't serious. 🤷🏽♀️

@@naebang2013 Oh every good youth group kid read it in the 90’s. I understand why our generation of parents thought it was a good idea, but sadly what ended up happening was a bunch of us getting married way to young (I was 17) and having horrible marriages. 😢 Very happy they added the “don’t read it” part!! My kids have heard me tell them 1,000 times not to get married young. Lol.
