Beth you should make your own UA-cam channel where you cook things I would watch it and I think lots of people would! Also I love Luke just walking around in the background when Beth’s making sourdough bread
Yay! I love it when Beth bakes. (and any other time she’s in the videos too) And the reason I appreciate when she makes mistakes is because it shows that mom’s don’t have to do it all perfectly to still be great moms. Plus I can tell they vlog real life and not a fake fairytale version.
I ALWAYS enjoy watching Beth on the vlog I just love that it's just as much about J's family as it is about behind the scenes love getting a sneek peek behind the scenes as well!!
(FYI, Long comment!) Very nice! The dough should be sticky! If it wasn't, it would be a sign that there isn't enough water in the mix. Another recipe you should look up is "Amish Friendship Bread" . You're supposed to use all wood/glass/ceramic utensils and bowls. The mix shouldn't contact metal at all. The starter mix takes about a month to make, and it's made from a sourdough mix! When you reach the last day and you're ready to bake it, you're supposed to take out some of the extra mix, bag it up in a bunch of smaller bags, and pass it off to your friends! Then they continue the mix, and once theirs is ready to bake, they make up bags of the mix and pass it to their friends! My mom has made it for years! It's so good! It's great to make around holidays, and you end up baking the bread every 10 days. Or you can make the starter, bake all the bread then give the bread as gifts. I promise, your friends will LOVE it!
There's a bakery in San Fran that apparently has a 160-year-old starter that they still nourish and feed and use. Sourdough is an odd bread but supposedly one of the best for you.
I very much admire your patience to make sourdough bread, Beth! I loved the little cameo of Luke walking through the kitchen while you were making the bread. Also, you should try putting Everything seasoning on the sourdough bread!! Love you guys! Have a great week!
Beth, you are too cute! Loved this. Please keep going. Agree with Ella (below) you should have your own cooking channel on youtube: Beth cooks as real people, not everything is perfect. Love you guys!!
In Germany when I was a child, a Sourdough called Hermann was really popular. You would share the dough with a couple of friends and each week another person was responsible for the dough and would take it home and feed it, sort of like a shared Tamagotchi but without all the weird noices it makes :P The fun part was of course baking a cake out of Hermann every couple of weeks!
Nice to see Beth take the reigns. J was barely in this week's vlog. Today's vlog is basically "Beth Carlin Vlogs" instead of "Jonathan Carlin Vlogs". Love y'all so much!
These vlogs brighten up my day. Beth is always so beautiful, Luke is the cutest kid on the internet and the vlogs are so wholesome and positive. I never get sick of these vlogs ❤❤❤
My parents had starter that was over 10 years old. It died when we moved from one city to another. Age really makes a difference in a starter. Thumbs up.
Okay, now I feel like I need to make my own sourdough bread. I might try it. Also, Trader Joe's has cinnamon churo bites in the chips aisle. They are delicious and I might have eaten the entire bag in a day : )
Basically, anything you can get at Trader Joes is awesome. We always get the green tea mints, and they are wonderful. But that's if you like tea. and mint. I do.
Hi J, love your vids!!! It’s crazy that people like five minute crafts and pewdiepie on the top, when there are honest, amazing channels like you with tens of millions less than them!!!
I was surprised that I thoroughly enjoyed watching Beth cook for almost the entire video. I was so impressed with her patience. That bread better have tasted good!
I've been playing with a sourdough starter for about 6 months! King Arthur Flour has a really great recipe for sourdough crackers and sourdough pizza crust to use up the discarded starter (unfed starter). Would recommend both.
So when I was like 6 or 7, I remember there was a thing where you would get a starter for a sourdough inn the mail. It would have a name and come with instrucions on how to taket care of It. After a time you could use some of it to make bread and then you would send the rest to someone else so they could do the same. It was really fun, and kind of like having a pet.
I've been too nervous to make sourdough. Very involved, although my bread machine has a starter setting and I bet there's cheater ways to make it. Thanks for the boost of bread-making confidence, Beth!
I agree with what others have said. You should have your own cooking channel! I would totally watch. I’ve been wanting to try making sour dough bread lately so this was perfect timing. Only one thing missing though....I wanted to see the taste test!
Idk if yall watch the office but jenna fischer (aka pam in the show) is really into sourdough baking. She uses a cookbook called alchemy bread or something. Idk maybe look into it if you wanna get really advanced bc i hear it has different difficulties
Looks good, hope you liked the bread :) For me as a German it is cool to watch you making sourdough at home, as this is basically my daily all normal bread, though I rarely make it myself at home
Albert, the pet yeast? Ricardo, the pet yeast?? Steve, the pet yeast??? I didn't know I needed a pet yeast in my life until now.... and for that I am forever grateful to Beth Carlin, an absolute LEGEND
Beth I hope you might enjoy a couple bread making tips. First if don't want the bread to stick as much to the bowl when you are letting it rise, you can rub a tiny bit of oil inside the bowl to help with that. Also I don't know if you did this because of editing, but when you get to the point when you are about to do your float test after you measure out what you need for the test and bread what you have left of your original starter can be feed as normal and it can/will be ready for baking faster if you are interested in that. I hope this was helpful. Sorry it's kinda long.
Beth you should make more starter than you need for one recipe so u don't have to start over every time you make sourdough bread. Just always keep some starter in the fridge and feed him every so often Also you should name your pet starter "fluffy"
Please more cooking videos! Would love to see "Luke helps make pasketti and meatballs", can already see the spaghetti wall-stick test now! Alright fine, I'll help direct the video...
This may potentially be a pilot episode - just wait for Beth’s own channel announcement in a couple of weeks! Also, you’re good at this Beth - leave name suggestions for my sourdough in the comments section! I CAN’T! 😂
Hey Beth quick tip so it doesn’t get stuck in your bowl. Little bit of butter or pan spray in your bowl will keep it from sticking so much because sourdough is VERY sticky!
Making sourdough is my favorite, especially rye sourdough. For next time, don't be afraid to score the dough even more deeply than that, so you can get those crispy, expandy bits on top that look really good with the raw flour :D
Only hockey fans will get this, but, Artemi the sourdough because there's a hockey player for the New York Rangers named Artemi Panarin who is nicknamed the breadman.
Okay but that sourdough honestly looks incredible, awesome job Beth! I think you should name your starter Francis, for no other reason than I think it's a funny name and it kind of fits the sourdough starter in my head. I agree with everybody though, I love the cooking segments!
Yes! Beth episodes are the best. :) Beth: I didn't get a chance to talk to you at the meet up, but you're awesome and an essential part of this vlog. I kinda think you should have had a meet-up line yourself honestly. Not everything is about J and Ben. :p
My sister did not name her starter but she called it her son. And my poor mother was so confused when my sister started talking to her about "your grandson".
What are your favorite Trader Joes goodies?!
The massive water bottles
The samples they give out every day
Jonathan Carlin I love there corn chips and lemonade
Jonathan Carlin will you guys come to st.louis!
They have these Churro bites that I really like!
Beth you should make your own UA-cam channel where you cook things I would watch it and I think lots of people would! Also I love Luke just walking around in the background when Beth’s making sourdough bread
I would watch every single one of those. And Luke can be her official taste tester!
I agree Beth and Luke UA-cam channel would be AWESOME!
I would subscribe. It would so awesome!
I also agree and the channel should be called “Beth bakes” or “baking with Beth” just a suggestion also now I’m hungry
@@steamfanatic4464 Baking with Beth (feat. Sue Chef Luke)
Beth needs to have her own series calling Baking with Beth. As for the name for her starter, I suggest: Kowalski. After the infamous baker himself!
Best part of the day!
P.S. for the thousandth time, Beth is beautiful.
This is extremely true
You're dead right!
That sourdough looks soooo good. Also my toddler requests more of “baby Wuke” as that’s his favourite part
😂❤❤ he's so right about that
That looks almost as good as the “BETH MAKES BAGELS!” vlog!
Love seeing more one on one (her and us viewers) with Beth in the video! I’m sure I’m not the only one who loves seeing her!
Yay! I love it when Beth bakes. (and any other time she’s in the videos too)
And the reason I appreciate when she makes mistakes is because it shows that mom’s don’t have to do it all perfectly to still be great moms. Plus I can tell they vlog real life and not a fake fairytale version.
The "Beth Makes Saga" continues and now I'm hungry.
I ALWAYS enjoy watching Beth on the vlog I just love that it's just as much about J's family as it is about behind the scenes love getting a sneek peek behind the scenes as well!!
Super Carlin Cooking, with the Super Carlin Wives! Every episode ends with an official rating from Luke!
YESSSS
Logan Prater, such a cute idea! 😊

I believe the public is in need of a Cooking With Beth weekly vlog now
Beth, you are too cute! Loved this. Please keep going. Agree with Ella (below) you should have your own cooking channel on youtube: Beth cooks as real people, not everything is perfect. Love you guys!!
I love 2:20 😂
Beth (vlogging): What did I forget to do?
Jonathan (off-camera, presumably thinking she's talking to him): What?
Can Beth make her own cooking channel yet?? My favorite part of the week is when SCB posts!!
My second job is an overnight baker at Panera. We make a TON of sourdough soup bowls and you did a great job!!! Looks good.
In Germany when I was a child, a Sourdough called Hermann was really popular. Beth is the BEST! Hope you all are having a great week! Luke is the cutest toddler ever.😊
Haha Baby Shark song in the background!😂

Little tip for baking take of your wedding ring so it does get dough under neath the diamond and you can't get it out
Yes! Name the starter 😊 mine are Poppy and Branch 😋
My parents had starter that was over 10 years old. It died when we moved from one city to another. Age really makes a difference in a starter. Thumbs up.
This is the kind of wholesomeness I needed today 🤣
Okay, now I feel like I need to make my own sourdough bread. I might try it.
Also, Trader Joe's has cinnamon churo bites in the chips aisle. They are delicious and I might have eaten the entire bag in a day : )
I love these vlogs. Beth's cooking looks fantastic!

LUKE is sooooo lucky to have you guys as his parents
Let’s get this bread. The bread looks good! Nice job
You should do a vlog of you guys hiking up to the star
Basically, anything you can get at Trader Joes is awesome.
We always get the green tea mints, and they are wonderful. But that's if you like tea. and mint. I do.
Hi J, love your vids!!! It’s crazy that people like five minute crafts and pewdiepie on the top, when there are honest, amazing channels like you with tens of millions less than them!!!

Yep, being from rural north Alabama, I know the joys of vacation grocery shopping.
That looks amazing Beth!! Great job!
6:54 why you say sorry for that.. ? We love Luke and he are a part of this serie. No worries that is.
I've been playing with a sourdough starter for about 6 months! King Arthur Flour has a really great recipe for sourdough crackers and sourdough pizza crust to use up the discarded starter (unfed starter). Would recommend both.
Sarah Slavens I’ll have to try that!!
Go Beth! I do not enough patience for baking like this!
So when I was like 6 or 7, I remember there was a thing where you would get a starter for a sourdough inn the mail. It would have a name and come with instrucions on how to taket care of It. Friendship bread!

Dang it, I didn’t even see you cut it or try it!!?! Good job girl! You’re so cute!!!
Anna Beckman vlogging fail 😂😂
Cooking time with Beth. Yay! Up next the Beth and Ben cooking channel?
The yeast colony should be Alexander (because it makes things rise up).
I should try the speculoos cookie butter it’s so good
“I feel like i have a pet sourdough” IM DED HAHAHA
I always get Plantain chips at Trader Joes! (Salty or sweet is up to preference. I like salty!)
Hey Beth, you can use oil instead of flour when you are folding your dough. It is less messy and works just as well.
I loved the "what?" from J as she starts the oven.
Love your real life cooking Beth... tip; spray oil the bowl before you rest the dough to rise (and your hands if you handle sticky stuff!) 😊
Idk if yall watch the office but jenna fischer (aka pam in the show) is really into sourdough baking. She uses a cookbook called alchemy bread or something. Idk maybe look into it if you wanna get really advanced bc i hear it has different difficulties
Trader Joe's Chocolate Cats! They're my favorite!

For me as a German it is cool to watch you making sourdough at home, as this is basically my daily all normal bread, though I rarely make it myself at home
This was great! But why wasnt it cut? I wanted to see the insides of that cute lil loaf!
What to name sourdough. Squish from Monster's University or Remy, the only rat chef in all of Pixar!
Bon appetit is SHAKING
