    Hi Kris
I remember watching your first video on dry storing ensetes, invaluable. Been doing that method ever since with great success. I've tried keeping them alive over winter but I find it more difficult and too much hassle. Great video. Cheers

I had a beautiful one in a large pot. The first Winter in the cool conservatory, fine. Last Winter I put it in the garage. It died.😢. Rotted I think. Wish I had done things differently. I am in SE Cornwall. ( ex Yorkshire).
      Thank you for your videos.

Hi, new sub here and I certainly get a kick out of your videos! And that's for various reasons, but mainly, I live in coastal south Florida where in ten years the coldest temperature I saw was about eight degrees above freezing.
Bananas, avocados, lychee trees.....you name it people on my block landscape with tropicals. No frost no worries.
While I'm all about the fruit trees everywhere, I'm really into orchids and carnivorous plants as well as rare palms, cycads, and lots of euphorbias!
Anyway, keep it up! I learn something every time I watch your videos although I'm in a subtropical paradise of the botanical world.

Hi I've dug mine up and put in a pot in my conservatory. It came out of the ground OK. It's quite large I couldn't bare to chop off any leaves. It's a fabulous house plant. It's joined my pup banana plants and a rather large Colocasia.
We are looking like Kew garden's, that's OK with me.

Well, I just cut mine down, clean them up and I’ll leave them out for two weeks to dry out, then I’ll put them in the attached garage, boy we’re they heavy I had a 14 inch trunk at the bottom

Thanks Chris, I will be dry storing mine in a couple of weeks time (South Coast so quite warm still). I think the attached garage is best for me, I have a couple of hessian sacks do you think I should cover them? Thank you

Hi Chris, thanks for the flowchart :) It is amazing and most of all, simple and clear.
Based on it I will keep my Ensete Maurelii (60 cm circ. in a pot) in my patio that has transparent policarbonate roof and canvas sides with plastic windows for the winter (+heated if needed during nights). But in daytime when the sun is shinig in winter the inside temperature of the patio may go up to summer temperatures (like 25-27 C). In such case will the potted ensete go dormant anyways or will it try to continue "to live like nothing happened". I ask this to avoid that I don't water it though winter but it evaporates so much water due to high ambient temperature that in the end it will be a mistake. Might be dumb question, but this is my first ensete and first winter :)

    Hi Kris,
    Thanks for the informative videos.
I've took my ensetes out of the ground, took all the leaves of and bought it into the house in a pot with organic compost. It's a fairly chunky trunk of which is going to sit in a not so bright room but a good temperature of 15 to 20 Celsius.
What would you suggest to watering etc in these conditions. Advice much appreciated.
I've also got red tiger Musa stored this way as well. Please advise and thanks

You will find that it'll hardly need any water over winter at all. Only water if you feel you can maintain warm temps and good light. It'll stay surprisingly damp for quite some time

Hi Kris. Thanks for all your brilliant videos. They’re great for a newbie like me. I’m going to dig up my ensete, repot it and put it in a heated greenhouse along with two other large bananas in very big pots! I have a heat mat now to help it root but I’ve never used one before. What temperature should I set the mat at please? Should it stay on 24/7 or on a timer? Should I use it all winter? Thank you 😊

Hello, I don’t want to bring mine indoors and don’t have an attached garage. I do have a large covered deck with a polycarbonate roof and attached shed. Am I able to fleece ensete and either leave under the deck or in the shed?
    Thank you.
