About ten years ago, I was providing a service to a Government Dept, actually under National, where a former assistant to Helen Clark attended all meetings over 18 months to make sure all the cultural issues were properly addressed. He spoke not once except to say hullo and goodbye and engage in the normal chit chat that goes on at break times and at the beginning and end of every meeting.

The Reserve Bank isn't seen imo as working for NZ but against in many cases, would like to see someone who is more responsible in the role.

If the Governor of the Reserve Bank is hiring people on the basis of their sex or race, in short, on any trivial or tribal marker, instead of for competence, he is practicing discrimination; he is in breach of New Zealand law and should be prosecuted accordingly.

This sounds like he should be Finance Minister ( OR should be in the government at least ) to compare Seymours interview where he says the govt is on a slow boat to china where it has to run out the contracts of the previous appointments before acting , you cant help but get a sense of not enough precise action may cause Humpty to fall ?

Big corporations now have Diversity Managers employed within their people HR teams in addition pay for LGBT Councils and to be part of the official "Pride Pledge" and also pay culture consultancies to teach them Tikanga. I.e. Kiwibank have a paid Diversity Adviser who is white and lesbian but gives advise on all matters of diversity, using pronouns including hiring people of color. (Maori here BTW) The Co-operative Bank had just paid a Maori Consultancy firm to advise them on how to put together a mihi or powhiri for their new CRO in February! Coop bank is also now about to embark in their Pride Pledge and will put together an official in house LGBT council. Both companies are absolutely notorious for disbanding critical roles within their banking sector and closing branches in much needed areas
