As a crew member on MS Tor Britannia, we went to the Scandinavia and assisted our colleagues, another terrible day that will stay with me forever, however, please remember that this fire was started deliberately and the crew did exactly what they should have done and did so well. There were also irrefutable links to the group who started the fire on the Dano Line ship, the Scandinavian Star - thank goodness the DFDS crew were far better trained and did not follow the same course of action the DL crew did.

Thanks for this footage. I was on that ship and hadn't actually seen the footage before. I still have the (singed) cabin key. I just found it in the drawer, which prompted me to google the incident. I remember the German warships. What a nightmare!

You must've been on the middle of it to have a singed cabin key. Must've been a horrible experience.

I was on board the Tor Scandinavia when the fire broke out.

Must've been scary. Were you crew or a passenger?

@@matts80s90s We were passengers returning from a holiday in Sweden.I still have newspaper cuttings and videos of the news reports, one of the news reports clearly shows us driving off the boat in Denmark in my Vauxhall Viva.I also have photos of us wearing lifejackets in preparation to board the lifeboats and of people being airlifted off the boat by helicopter.

@@michaelwalls8675 I had many holidays in Sweden and Denmark with DFDS in those days. Really enjoyed the mini cruise aspect. I was very fond of these ships and was horrified to hear of the fire. Thank goodness you were ok.
