Robert's son) who is now learning what a sociopathic liar and manipulator his own father is (having witness this in my formative years of ministry at the hands of another pastor outside of Gateway's ministry, I can only imagine being lied to and manipulated to that extent by a parent), and also praying for the many elders, campus pastors and members who have faithfully served the ministry and are collectively determining how to do so, in a way that honors God and the call to accountability, integrity and having a higher standard of morality than the world surrounding the church, so as to be above reproach in the days, weeks and years to come. @Sunshine26762 33 states have protection clauses for clergy or church "privileges" that allow them to get away with not reporting the abuse, and some go further and allow churches to prohibit doctors and teachers from reporting as well, by exerting privilege over evidence. The internal June 14 statement sent by church elders to Gateway staff said RM had been “open and forthright about a moral failure he had over 35 years ago.” On June 18, the Board of Elders said they “did not have all the facts,” including the age of the victim and the length of the abuse and accepted Morris’ resignation from Gateway Church that day. Gateway should have fired him. The elders failed to do what is right.
@@Maranatha1927 I understand and am equally outraged at how this entire story has played out thus far. My comment was solely in regard to Elder Tra's opening statements and prayer. In case you don’t know the story, Robert Morris is a nationally known televangelist and pastor of Gareway Church, a 10,000 member church in Texas. He molested a 12-year-old girl for years. He supposedly had previously told the church elders that he had an inappropriate relationship with a young lady. So we are to believe: The church elders did not ask for any details. Did not ask for the age. Did not ask for her name. Did not ask for specifics. This all the while this dear lady who is now an adult tried to tell her story of child abuse to numerous church leaders all along the way. Robert Morris was in his 20s and was married at the time of his years of abuse to this girl. The elder statement today read over the pulpit was mostly filled with all the good that Gateway Church has done for so many people over the years. They seemed more interested in damage control control then the actual abuse itself and definitely the dear lady. The focus of the so-called elder apology was “all the good that Church has done”. It seems all too similar to my experience in a church when there was child pornography found of the most perverse kind on the computer that the FBI confiscated who the same associate pastor that was actually teaching my husband Wednesday night class as well as delivering occasional messages. Had an office right outside the assembly, and it seemed to me that damage control was the key point of the lead pastor. Rather than using it as a lesson about the dangers of pornography, and the atrocities of child abuse, the leadership wanted to quiet it as quickly as possible, and move on move on move on. This damage control has got to stop. I know that it’s hard to speak out and nobody wants to call be labeled as an agitator, but that’s exactly why these types of abuse continue to go unchallenged.
She had more than enough time to bring all to light. I was a victim of sexual abuse for more than a decade. I didn’t wait until I was in my 50’s to bring all to light. Her parents should be held accountable for knowing and not following through with the police and filing charges. They, too, are accountable. Lastly, why now? What does she want? Is it to destroy Gateway? If so, why?
I couldn't agree more...it's sick and very late in the game...some have said it was his connection to Trump, in an effort to smear Trump in some way for being connected to Morris in 2016. It wouldn't surprise me in the least. If you listen to the interview on MSNBC, it is awful. I find it very suspect that suddenly she's spilling it and re-hashing it all over again as if it had just happened. No one has said one word about her own father...I guess no one thinks he should be culpable for going to the police...
I was SA as a child in a church for many years, I never told my parents, they have passed away never knowing what happened. It’s not that easy to speak about, I was in my mid forties when I started getting therapy for it. Everyone is different in their process of healing. Why blame the victim and not hold the perpetrator accountable for HIS Actions, it is a crime!
I was wondering will Cindy come out if Pastor Morris is nobody? Church has been offering her something but I think it was not enough for her. Judgement is in God’s hand, let’s pray for both souls rest in peace.
She has been speaking out for decades. She asked for $50,000.00 for the cost of therapy and counseling over the years, was offered $25,000.00 IF she would sign an NDA, she rejected that offer. He deserves to be exposed. A 12 year old girl is a child, what was done to her was a crime, he should be in jail, the man is reprobate.
She does need a proper and sincere apology from him. How come the parents didn’t notice? 12 years old is not good for hiding, especially in the assault situation.

What a f*cking surprise !!
He was caught lying about how old the girl was. He was not forthright in his confession. And he candy coated the truth. He did not volunteer the information, the victim called him out. She was ignored for years on this and finally, I believe, God had had enough and made the so called men of God in the church, have to admit that she was just twelve years old. They ignored it as long as they could. And then allowed him to resign instead of firing him in disgrace. The wife told the girl she forgave her for sleeping with her husband. Trying to make the girl the bad person. The love of money is a sin also. This event will definitely have a financial impact on the church. This church is very successful and influential.
Where did you read that the wife forgave Cindy? It’s awful
This is very upsetting. And yes. Debbie Morris needs to be held accountable as well. This was my church. I met my wife here. The church is inviting guest speakers both from within and outside the church to speak until a decision is made on how to move forward, hopefully with integrity and accountability, as Christ once commanded of us. Praying for the victim as she comes forward and tells her story (even if it predates Gateway's founding by several years- it can take years/decades for a victim to be in a place of healing to tell their experience and give us a better understanding of the truth), and also praying for James Morris (Ps. I believe the best days can truly be ahead for Gateway Church- but the process of doing so must be done correctly and with respect to the healing collectively for everyone involved.

@Sunshine26762 33 states have protection clauses for clergy or church "privileges" that allow them to get away with not reporting the abuse, and some go further and allow churches to prohibit doctors and teachers from reporting as well, by exerting privilege over evidence. The way this church addressed this sexual abuse case is disheartening. The speech that was presented felt rehearsed and very calculated. Almost like the elders knew about this since the beginning. The elder who spoke opening the morning service, spoke justly. Heartfelt, genuine, compassionate and keeping it all real. Thank you for sharing this 💕
He didn't keep it real. The church initial response when this was exposed publicly was not one of investigation but stating that he walks in purity now.
Horrible. This statement by Elder Tra was not any of that in my opinion.

In case you don’t know the story, Robert Morris is a nationally known televangelist and pastor of Gareway Church, a 10,000 member church in Texas. He molested a 12-year-old girl for years. He supposedly had previously told the church elders that he had an inappropriate relationship with a young lady.
So we are to believe:
The church elders did not ask for any details.

Pray for repentance to come to the body of Christ bring the “Fear Of The Lord” back into the hearts of the people.
“The fear of the Lord" is more than just fear, such as awe, reverence, adoration, honor, worship, confidence, thankfulness, and love towards God
Not excusing the actions as they were terrible but saying the church needs repentance in order to truly minister in this time
If Jim Bakker returned to ministry Morris will be back in ministry also
They knew
You might as well get P Diddy to offer an apology !😕
Keep worship and desire God Church we pray for you to comfort & be encourage knowing that we not serving men but Jesus Christ Almighty. He is the Head of the church and all things here on earth.Fogive & praying for haters let God judge no one perfect under the sun.
Disappointed, God's word tells us we will reap what we sow. He deserves to be punished and never be allowed to return to ministry, these so called men of God that stand in front of us and cry like a baby asking for forgiveness are pathetic, they know how to play the game of manipulation. Gateway Church will always have a dark cloud over it.
