In a moment of complete idiocy, around 1991, I once bought a mint 1980 XLS1000 Roadster as a 2nd bike, I thought it might be cool to plod around on when not riding my ZXR750. What a complete pile of shit. It vibrated like a jackhammer, accelerated slower that the average 250, handled like a.....well, it didn't handle, full stop, brakes were dangerously bad. Hopping off the ZXR, onto the Roadster was like hopping out of a Porsche and onto a tractor. Sold it after 3 months before it killed me.

The US version has larger more flush headlights. This looks like a 1988-89 us version with the slightly recessed headlights. I ride a 91 zx11, but I'd like to add a 90 fzr1000 and a 90 gsxr1100 to my collection. Love the older bikes.
This is a 3GM1 model 89/90, the 3gm1 was sold to some markets in Europe that for whatever reason the flush headlights werent allowed, apart from that, its the same as every other 89/90 FZR1000. Switzerland had to have a single rectangle headlight as duel lights were "verboten" :-) Their GSX-Rs and RC-30s all had single headlights, on top of that their bikes were heavily restricted too, to well under 100 hp for 1000cc. Sucks to be them :-))
to me the damn thing looks great but to me in looks like he put headlights from a 87 88 in it with 89 90 front fairing I know my US 90 fzr 1000 has the flush headlights that curve back with the fairing I do like that look thought but I also think that my stock headlights give it that deferent look then other bikes like gsxrs and other dull head light sport bikes

These motorbikes have a 'Cult statis ... They are so good to ride and safe. The Geometry is perfect ((Handling is brillant)) in my humble opinion, going on 30 years ....."riding ((((( Sure you'll get young people say, news bikes are better bla bla.. And they good. R1 is good ....but dangerous for the open rd. Heavier is better for that
Stability is too high at the expense of poor handling. I've improved the handling of mine at the expense of loosening some stability by some small changes.

There was a student a year ahead of me in high school that drove one of these and I thought he was literally too cool for school.
