- After Gary (William Ragsdale) admits he can't pay the money, he offers Arnett (Steven Flynn) the property deed instead. Arnett believes the land will become more valuable in the future, but Duffy (Jere Burns) gets angry as he thought they would get a portion of the recovered money.
From Season 1, Episode 9: "Hatless"

Deputy Raylan Givens has his own, Wild West-style methods of upholding justice, putting him at odds with the criminals he hunts and with his bosses in the U.S. Marshals Service. And an incident prompts his reassignment to the Kentucky district where he grew up. The character is based on one created by author Elmore Leonard in several books and short stories.

Raylan: "This is Raylan Giv--"
Dispatcher: "Ambulance is on the way."
“I haven’t even told you were I am yet.”
“We put a tracking device in your hat starting in season 2. We always know where you are Marshall.”
@@barnabusdoyle4930 Just have an ambulance follow him around, like the Hot Dog guy that follows Homer Simpson :D
Lmao,so true,😂😂😂😂😂😂
"Of what? The land? What am I?!! A farmer?!!!!" 🤣I love the dialog in the show. The delivery was impeccable, too.
Jere Burns was one of the best actors in the series and had a great character arc as well.
I think he was originally only supposed to be in a couple of episodes.
They butchered this in the last season.
@@berntmariustromsdal9215 Agreed, the last season fell well below the standard of the rest.
“I’m gonna get a machete and blowtorch and make your body as small as I can” that’s quite possibly one of the funniest threats I’ve ever heard
I KNOW WHO SAID THAT!!!!
That's what one of the cops said about Rayland dropping the bullet on Duffy's chest after he said, "The next one's going to come faster!!"
Nice! Slipping that in was very slick. But it's not going to get by this next level fan base you got assembled here.
"Would you call this a gaggle, a heard, or a flock of fans or is it more like the United Nation of fans"
Whatever you call it. It's an assembly of some SERIOUS fans here!!
“Ima get medieval on your ass”
dispatch "Raylan who did you shoot this time." Raylan "Hand to god I did not fire a shot this time"
Wynn Duffy was so crazy in the first 2 episodes he was in. By the series finale, he is probably the most sane person. I wish he got a spinoff.
Hope he returns for the reboot
They turned Wynn Duffy into one of my favourite characters by the end of it
@@darlenemfish1878He's been outed as an informant and a potential suspect in the murder of a D.A.
@@darlenemfish1878 There's a reboot? What the hell for? This show was fucking perfect?
@@LodvarDude show had one big flaw, not enough transgenders and climate change activism
Only Raylan could show up unarmed and get 3 bad guys shot and disarmed before backup is even called.
I can just hear Art saying “You don’t even have to try anymore do ya? Bad guys see you coming, they shoot each other!”
@@matthewriley7826 That is SO Art.
@@matthewriley7826 I read that in his voice 😂
What's funny is Raylan calling for an ambulance, and he isn't the one that shot anybody. 😂
for once
Nope, but it is protocol as a member of law enforcement wen present lol. He does it every time
With the number of times Raylan calls the paramedics, he must have them under his favorite contacts.
Which will get the department talking no doubt hahaha
medics show up like ???????? da fuq?
That “shut up Gary” was wonderfully delivered. 😂
MAN?!! If we're going to stack up all the "wonderfully delivered" lines, we're gonna need a LOT of help and a LOT of space.
Then we got to decide whether to stack them up
by season?
by episode?
by character?
chronologically?
in order of magnitude of wonderfulness?
But hey, it's a GREAT excuse to watch the whole series all over again... and again ... just to make sure we didn't miss a little wonderfully delivered line somewhere!!
Well, as Raylan once said, "the sooner we get TO it, the sooner we get THROUGH it."
(All right sports fans; I slipped in some TRIVIA there.
Who did Raylan say it TO?)
@@elskid206 I can’t recall. Good enough excuse for me to rewatch the series too!
0:32 I just realized that Raylan reacts to Gary reaching into his jacket, concerned that the others might think Gary's pulling out a gun. Great minor detail.
“I wasn’t in a gunfight, I was just near one.”
Raylan: _for once, does not shoot anybody_
Also Raylan: _still has to call in an ambulance_
Smart writing. That's how you set tension and build it in a scene. This entire show was that way. Pity the new one couldnt repeat
New one is full of boring cliches and DEIB
@@danguee1 DEIB?
@@Dysan72 Probably too many black people. Or women. Every time I see a weird acronym on a random comment section, it turns out to be something like that.
"I'm gonna get a machete and a blow torch and I'm going to make you body as small as I possibly can" Is one the best lines in cinema history.
“ Hey, I’ve shot people I like more, for less!” 😂
I sometimes wonder about the off-camera interactions that must be happening in this show. It'd be great to see some EMTs roll up and have the driver say, "How many people did you shoot this time, Raylan? Wait, *none?!* Jim-Bob, you win the pool!"
“I wasn’t involved in a shooting, just…near one.”
Yeah wasn’t he suspended in this episode?
@@sterlingarcher74 Probably…seemed like he was always suspended half the time.
@@MisterSmith00 Always half the time?
"...always SUSPENDED half the time."
You missed a word there.
Just how Raylan enters and starts a conversation with Billy Mack like they are old friends, “Did ya find that cat?” Is just one of a MILLION examples of depth of this show!!! B R A V O ! !
"WHAT AM I, A FARMER?????"
always liked wynn
Truly this tension-filled scene is all-time on Justified.
Also peak Jere Burns, who gets humbled after this moment and resorts to traveling in an RV to calmly cause trouble.
Terribly underappreciated actor.
On rewatch I always find this appearance off because he just destiny fully feel like the same character here as the rest of the show
"Show me the Benjamin's the homies are always rappin' about," just stupendously good writing, omg
Totally forgot how unhinged Duffy was in season one 😂😂😂
Even when Raylan hasn't got a gun, he's involved in a shootout...😱
"Be careful what you wish for, Gary"
Considering the value of property now. Taking any free land is a good idea.
God forgive me but I absolutely love Jere Burns as Wynn Duffy.
Join the club.
This line is so good I look for chances to say it.
That 3 minute scene had better writing, more tension, and more action than the entire run of City Primeval.
the actual novel has no Raylan
You beat me to exactly what I was going tosay
@@peterdedes2460 Your point?
Yep.
He don't have one and he knows it
Raylan - cooler than the flip side of the pillow.
Show me the Benjamin’s the homies are always rapping about 😂😂
Wynn Duffy was gold
Duffy was always fun to watch/listen to. But he was a bit more unhinged in the first few appearances.
Gary attacking a wounded Duffy 😂😂
I think I would have suggested they go down to the bank and get a loan using part of the land as equity to pay Duffy.
And I believe Duffy would have said, "Shut UP, Early Genesis!!"
This Duffy probably. The one by the end of the series would have suggested it first!
@@elskid206
What are you a loan officer?!!
Wynn Duffy went soft after this. Guess getting shot changes you.😅
Rylan: "Hey, This is Rylan"
Rylan + Dispatch: "I'm going to -- You are going to need a squad car and an ambulance... We got it!"
I'd like to believe that there's a deleted scene in which the dispatcher is later told that Raylan DIDN'T shoot anybody this time.
like a decade later, Duffys tending to his farm, old school, with mules, and his hands. Scene comes in with Raylon walking towards him across a field as Duffy's back is turned. Duffy is plowing down the field, when he makes it to the end of the row, he turns his mule team around, then just as he was about to begin plowing again he looks up. In the field coming towards him is Raylon Givens with his signature hat. Trudging towards him. Duffy doesn't flinch, he begins to remove the reins from around his body, making no effort to go towards Raylon, letting Raylon walk the entire row to where Duffy is standing. "Wynn", Raylon says as he makes his final few steps. "Raylon Givens, Deputy Marshall, Raylon Givens, I was really hoping to never see you again. Why are you here.", Raylon retorts "Deputy Director Raylon Givens now, and Well to be honest with you, I almost didn't believe the address when I got told it.......Duffy Wynn owning a farm....... never would have believed it if I didn't come out here and see it myself." They stand there a second absorbing the surroundings of Duffy's quite remarkable farm. "But it seems some of yours and Robert Quarles past associates have come to the conclusion that you might know a thing or two about a thing or two, and there's been some whispers about you getting a visit by some of the more unsavory of those associates to find out just what you do know. And I'm here to offer you witness protection." But before Duffy could respond, a three SUV convoy gains both of their attention "Friends of yours?" Raylon asks Duffy. "To be honest, I was hoping they were with you." RUN
Jere Burns is excellent in Justified. So different from his character Kirk in Dear John.
City Primeval was a desecration of this show's memory.
"What am I, a farmer?!" No, you couldn't aspire to be someone so worthwhile and hard working and decent and salt of the earth.
Correction. I think at that point you need some ambulances and a squad car.
'You find that cat?'.
Watching this just made me even sadder, knowing how far the series would fall in "City Primeval".
is it bad?
JUSTIFIED os a TV. Show that needs to come back soon!!!!!!!!😅😅😅😅😅😅😮❤😂
Wynn Duffy underrated af
Why did I end up liking Dewey, Boyd, Arlo and Wynn almost as much as I liked Raylan and Art?! 😂
The one guy I was happy to see get smoked was Ron Eldard’s character. He’s a great actor, but he played a nasty guy.
I always thought it was cool that Timothy said in an interview that Wes Craven liked his version of Ghostface:) I always thought if Wes Craven never gave Timothy a chance he wouldn't be acting today. I remember Jeff Goldbem Said something very similar about Woody Allen When Jeff was doing an interview about his life career
Duffy was a fun character.
I'd like to know what happened to Raylan between the original show and Primeval to make him so dumb.
RIP Mikey😭
You could switch that "I stabbed people I liked less as ghostface" 😂
I have to seriously wonder what the fuck that dude thought was going to happen by him escalating the situation that way. How did he think this was going to down?
c'était une commande professionnelle
Funny to think Duffy is the one who comes out on top 😂
Fucking love this show. Have watched three times by now 😅
You elitist, what's wrong with being a farmer? The kids in FFA were some of the nicest people on campus.
😂😂😂
Love Raylan but…..no modern cop says he needs “squad cars.” LE hasn’t used squad cars for 50+ years.
moi aussi , un truc de super villain
Gangsters in charge
If you haven’t watched it yet I have to assume you just got back from the South Pole and even that’s not a good excuse WATCH IT NOW you won’t be disappointed.
such an atrocity for a crook to have a badge...
I don't like any of these people
This was great,city primeval SUCKED
what that guys is sexually attracted to dollar bills or what? What a reaction.
I mean, If someone owed me a lot of money, and said I had to wait months (if not a years) to get it, I'd be pissed too.
Wooo! Chicken fat!!!
c'est la transition écologique
Primeval is the MOST WORTHLESS BORING SEQUEL IVE EVER WASTED MY TIME WATCHING !
So tell us how you really feel about it.... Geez
At least it was better than 24: Live Another Day or the Prison Break miniseries, which is a pretty low bar, admittedly.
The series never disappointed. This cut is just one of many great ones.
This is peak Ryland. City Primeval just sucked so bad all around. It's like CP was written by a highly malfunctioning AI bot.
Primevil, is horrible and no where near the Origs glory. Orig Justified was Awesome. You cared about the characters, all had good and bad. There were fun moments along with the tension.
Great blended show.
This new mess is just bad, bad dialoige bad acting, everyone is pure evil or just flat. Probably tried to add to much woke , which ruins everything. Had to pick people by some BS,, instead of actual skill
Agreed. Tried to give it a chance, but nope.
let me guess.... You are now just figuring out The Sopranos & Yellowstone got worse as they ran out of plot lines as well..........
At least Raylan got lucky with that beautiful lawyer 🤮
someone discovered a new subject to weave the word "woke" into...which..ruins everything when you try and be cool using it
👍👍👍👍@@mattf49006
I hate that justified went woke in the new awful series this is gold
Technically the title is grammatically incorrect. I'll let you off, because you're a Yank... and you have to live there.
