Almost 20 years ago, my first ever game at Anfield. Was absolutely gutted at FT but glad it was Celtic that ruined my day ha. Spent the night on the piss with them, amazing fans!!!
Only just seen this. Being an English Celtic fan was always fun at school/college and there were so many Liverpool fans at my college. After the 1-1 draw at Celtic Park I got so much grief from my friends before this game. Watched the game and after the result for the next week I wore my Celtic shirt. Great memories.

@Pollywog I agree with your overall point, but if you look at Celtic’s team for that final you’ll see that around 7-9 of the players began their careers at Celtic. I also think there’s an argument to be made that the recent sharp increase in money in football has destroyed the romantic idea of “big clubs”. For example, a Raith Rovers player might be likely to sign for Celtic because they will pay him more, they have a large stadium which is regularly filled, they are a successful team who regularly “compete” in European football, and they are historically known to be a “big club”. However, if Norwich (currently bottom of the Premier League) came in for him, the wages they would be able to theoretically offer this player would be so great that they’d have more drawing power than the “big club” appeal of Celtic.
@Pollywog wit you talking about raith rovers winning European cups for ya fucking nugget lol you needed to be champions of yer country back then and most of the big club sides made up the national sides too lmao you know nothing about football 😂😂😂
I was at the first leg match at Celtic Park . Henrik scored within a couple of mins and Emile Heskey scored the equaliser . I was very impressed with Steven Gerrard but in spite of his array of passes and prompting we kept Liverpool at bay . The English press and pundits reckoned the 2nd leg would be a formality for Liverpool . As Blackburn also found out to their cost, in an earlier round , that Celtic team were much better than they or their fans thought.
