    That is some top notch demo of how you adjust the technique to bring the best character out of each... voice?

    Great! It's new and amazing that there is French and English sounds. The French is well known for me 'cause I heard mostly Bach on say "russian" Cavaille Colls (in S-Petersburg and Moscow). But it strange that this sophisticated instrument didn't show that roaring Bourdon, very impressive. Ian, did you forget? And one more question -- this manner of changing fingers while standing on the same key. is this for organ only, or for any barocco klavier?

    Absolutely BEAUTIFUL! However the tuning is a bit too pure imho. With the acquisition of Rodgers, maybe Makin can offer the Random De-Tuning feature. Just a thought. INCREDIBLE SAMPLES by the way!

      @ChurchOrganWorld  8 років тому +8

      Many thanks for your comments. Random detuning has been available for years on our Makin instruments, and it is down to the customer as to how much, if any is used on the installation. It is a very personal thing where there is little general agreement.

    This organ is so superior to expensive, American instruments, it's really NOT funny!
    And your playing is elegant, even in a quick demo. You are a treasure, Ian.

      Agreed. Instruments from Allen Computer Organ Inc. sound just so awful - crap US technology.

      HA! Take a look at the inside of one of these cheap instrumenta, and compare to the inside of an Allen. Actually, there’s no comparison. Which is why Johannus dealers avoid showing potential customers the inside. It’s embarrassing.

    What footages are in the Harmonic Bass?

    • @SamuelSleath
      @SamuelSleath 3 роки тому +1

      Harmonic Bass stops usually have 2 ranks playing at the same time - a 16ft Open Diapason, played with a 5th pitch above, which has a foot length of 10 2/3. This gives a resultant pitch of 32ft. Sometimes there is an individual stop called 'Quint 10 2/3' instead so you can combine that with the Open Diapason to get the same effect. They're never as good as a real full length 32ft stop though!

      Makin organs are made by Johannus using Johannus-designed consoles and shared technology. But they are not Johannus clones. The tonal specification is completely different.

    Mr. Tracy In this demonstration video are these the English Cathedral samples?

    • @ChurchOrganWorld
      @ChurchOrganWorld  7 років тому +1

      DandyDon these are the English samples from cathedrals and other notable English Organs. Of course with a small church like this, using cathedral stops throughout would be inappropriate.

    • @DandyDon1
      @DandyDon1 7 років тому

      That makes perfect sense. I remember when Makin instruments were shown at NAMM by Johannus, the term "English Cathedral Samples" was used to describe what was available. This is the term which stuck in my mind for many years. Thank You.

    Too much reverb -- sounds like the speakers are wrapped in fiberglas insulation rolls. Or like a 1962 Gulbransen! (I heard 4 min.)
