a friend of mine was in Croatia and she rescued a bunch of puppys turned out to be croatian sheepdogs i adopted one hes 1 year old and i absolutely love him. He learns tricks very fast!
I went to Croatia in 2003 and ended up flying a 6 month old stray home to the US. She definitely had Croatian sheepdog in her. Looked and acted just like them. She was the runt of a litter. That's what the Croatian vet said. I named her Phoebe and she was the best dog anyone could ever have asked to own. We were the best of friends and she died at 16 1/2 years old. I miss her terribly
How was the import process for the dog? To bring one to the United States I think I read something like a 10 day quarantine process is needed on the Department of Agriculture's site. I am scared that the dog will be traumatized by such a process, especially if it is just a puppy, since puppies need to be loved and held, not isolated for 10 days, and questionably fed and watered.
@@midori4352 I don't know what the process is today but back then there was no quarantine which made the trip so much more doable. I really hesitated when I thought there was a quarantine but learned there wasn't. You have to check on that. I know I totally understand how you feel about a quarantine though because I had the same concerns back then. I would hope that the facility would be up to par though.
Excellent video. The only correction I have is that Croatian Sheepdogs are often born without a tail (anury). Of the 8 puppies my dog had, 4 of them were born without a tail.
Had 2 in my village, make excellent guard dogs as well, no way you get pass them without them barking and warning you if you close to dogs owner house. Lol
These r the typo dogs the human race evolved with over time and still does the duty and will take care of you instead of the other way around... Not the pompous showtypes or the fancy pet types...
They are great, but also hyperactive. You really need to let them run so they burn the energy. Also most of them are crazy protective. These dogs will see a large butterfly grom 5-6m away and they WILL bark at them for trespassing.
We call it "pulin" in serbia cause its more common in northern serbia and unfortuneatly there is hundreds od these dogs starving on streets, most peoples dont like this dog cause they think he is ugly, and its considered to be "no breed dog" - classic villager dog. And peoples just leaving them on streets and as i mentioned you can find them on street in every city in northern serbia.

@@Rocadog thank you. Losing a beloved animal is heart wrenching. 😢
The most underrated dog and the best companion you can hope for
As for the intelligence they are the closest you can get to Border Collie
👍👍
GREAT VIDEO 🖤🐾
Thanks for using Phoebe's photos, we are honored!
I am glad you enjoyed the video :) 👍
Are you in Croatia?

Agree, they do resemble GSD a little bit 👍

PFAHLBAUHUND is actually Croatian sheep dog . i got few generations of this dogs! very very smart breed!
Thank you very much, mate! They look like a bigger version of a Mudi! Too bad they are not super popular here in the US, cheers Roca man!
No problem! They are not very popular in other parts of the Europe as well (apart from Croatia and neighboring countries)
Beautiful
Absolutely 👍
Funny how a profile/side view of this dog looks like a large version of the Schipperke dog breed !
