My mindset is you have the rest of your working life to dress up, you don’t need to look “cute” or overly “nice” while learning *if you don’t want to*. If you do, great🙂 With the amount of all nighters my cohort and I pulled we were lucky if we showed up in a new outfit😂 we did dress up really well for important presentations though which was always a nice change of pace, but being more casual otherwise made those times stand out. Unless your degree/major has a specific dress requirement it’s weird to put your expectations on others😒

True. My kid didn't like cake at 1 and still not a fan of sweet. We made her a cake shaped like Boots cause she was a Dora fan. Everyone wanted me to feed her the first piece and I was like. Oh she doesn't like cake. They kept encouraging me to give her a piece. So I gave into pressure. She gave me the meanest side eye when that spoon left her mouth and spit it out. I gave her a small cup of olives and cheddar cheese to make her happy. I tell you story cause it's always been funny in my head but I won't take a video about it

That town that college is in is so underdeveloped and under the poverty line it's ridiculous to be criticizing the clothing people opt to wear to class. My mom had that it went away for a long time, even though it’s not technically supposed to (she prayed a LOT and by a miracle it got better) but she’s got it mildly again, and it has been a nightmare for her sometimes so blessings and healing wished upon and sent towards you because I know that that struggle is real af and I’ve seen the pain that it causes my mom when she has a flareup. I feel like it’s more meaningful to have (broke) friends willing to give me a couple bucks or $200 dollars if I desperately needed it than for some millionaire to give me what to them is pocket change. I’ve had friends offer something more meaningful than money; housing if I was homeless, a ride if I needed to go to work, food if I was starving, advice and a hug if I was struggling with the weight of it all. Instagram reels is a mess, every couple days Instagram shows me, a trans woman, a video of some guy saying that he would happily kill a trans woman if she didn’t disclose that she was trans as soon as the guy started flirting. Tens of thousands of likes usually and the comments are always filled with gifs implying that they would also murder trans women for something like that. I get that it’s probably just a bunch of 13 yo edgelords but it still isn’t very cool that Instagram likes to remind me on a regular basis that there are people who would want to kill me over something so trivial
Honestly, the first year I went back to school I was like "I'm gonna dress beautifully and be the cool older student." and now I just go to class in some slightly scuffed up leather boots, jeans, and a nice shirt/sweater. I'm in class for 5+ hours, and on campus for 8+, I'm dressing comfortably.
