EX-Tesla staff here. After finding out my badge didn't work this morning. I wanted to find out what was going on. And like always NO ONE knows what's going on. My boss didn't know NOR anyone above him knew. We were all pretty much blindsided. If I was in Elons shoes, I would take the Nintendo route to improve moral. take a HUGE cut from my salary/investments and give back to the company so my company would thrive and work harder. creating a caring environment. But that's just me.

Elon Musk does not wholly own Tesla. He has like 20%? It means 80% is owned by other shareholders. Being a publically listed company a CEO has certain fiduciary responsibilities that must follow various rules and requirements. The board of directors is tasked with ensuring senior leadership is acting in the best interests of the company and it's share holders. Both CEO and the BOD are not performing this responsibility as well as envisioned. Tesla (at the moment) is a car company. The focus needs to be aimed with that in mind as it's revenue from car sales that provide resources to pursue technologies that will commercialize in the future. Tesla is targeting two steps ahead with resources poured into future revenue opportunities while depending too heavily on 3/Y to generate the sales to fund everything. This is too risky and it's playing out. Tesla needs a product portfolio that "accelerates the world to sustainable energy". Also the aspiration of selling 20 million cars by 2030 has been allowed to drop from the radar. A broader portfolio is needed to ensure car sales are robust enough to fund the operations that now are too heavily focused on "tomorrow". Finally Tesla has (to their own admission) reported 2024 to be a "gap year". This is simply poor management. Elon Musk admires many of the Chinese automakers. He would be wise to understand some of their goals as "car companies" and product breadth. If I were on the board of Tesla I would explore a Co CEO structure. Elon is a brilliant man. But he sometimes seems to view Tesla as his" toy box". A high ranking Co CEO with true responsibilities to shareholder consideration and annual growth goals is needed to balance Elon. My "2 cents" which means nothing to anyone but just shared for fun and support of this channel. 😊

IMO, Musk is more at fault than anybody for Tesla’s business predicament. Failure to prioritize a basic, inexpensive EV was a massive miscalculation. Expensive, luxurious, high performance cars make little sense when battery technology just isn’t good enough yet. Besides, there isn’t an inexhaustible pool of potential buyers for such vehicles anyway. So Musk has oversold and under delivered. Tesla’s biggest problem is more that the stock price was juiced too much and now people are catching on, in a big way, to the unwarranted hype…. Anybody who invested in Tesla within the last couple of years has lost big time. Finally, Tesla is still profitable so why a need to save on salaries???? Seems that getting more stuff designed, debugged and in production quicker requires more people rather than fewer. This RIF proves that Tesla has a demand problem.

People are seeing that EV are too expensive for the average consumer, and that same goes with vehicles built by the Big Three. They should have concentrated on making simpler , more affordable , and more reliable. The problem are too many recalls and the replacement parts are not much better than the original parts. $20,000 for trucks are still too much for the lemons

I worked at SpaceX and it was very stressful to work for Elon. He expects everyone to be workaholics like him. The perks are great but I routinely worked 12hrs a day which included Saturdays plus half a day on Sundays. That’s why they want to spend more time with family. Layoffs are routinely done to get rid of dead wood at most high tech companies. That’s nothing new, and does necesarily mean that they are in trouble.

If not convinced please check the competition. FSD licences? Again what will be the sales in 2024? Check the competition (eg a small but promising company called nvidia). Further the EU has still not approved FSD and many regulators will require a radar like system included. Big players will have their own system either in house build or third party. So left only small players US bound. Doesn't seems a great market to me.
Better focus on the EV market, last 5 year no successful commercial launch of a new product. Energy market for now a good distraction but unless Tesla put some real added value into its energy products it is just the name and a bit of software.

Blame interest rates, the economy, Cybertruck ramp and maybe the slow perfection of the 4680 batteries. ALL EV sales are down worldwide. LUCID and RIVIAN stock is down 90%+. I bet you dont realize that TSLA is up 14,000%. Every major domestic and foreign ICE maker's EVs are in the tank. BYD (the Chinese company directly supported by the govt) has dropped production dramatically. I am GLAD this 'shakeout' is happening. I own 7750 shares at $219 basis. I also value Elon as I'm a Tesla model 3 owner (happily)👍. But it seems Elon with his future visions has a tough time bridging the various challenges and goals. I thought a Co CEO arrangement with Elon focusing on "Techno King" as he likes to be called together with a competent, dynamic charismatic industry leader that can focus shareholder pdotections and continued business growth without running into a "gap year" could work. But Elon of course treats Tesla as his wholly own entity and almost like a "toy box". I also agree that his absence would be detrimental hence a business sharing leadership team could be appealing.
