Bill, thanks for your superb teaching videos. I have learned a great deal. There is a question the interests me. At the time that Diz adn BIrd 'invented' modern jazz there was not the plethora of books, videos, university courses etc on the subject that there is now! The whole subject has been codified to the nth degree. So what were the originators thinking? Barry is a link to that post war era and I wonder if his ideas derive partly from the ideas that the great originators had at the time, or is his approach purely idiosyncratic (some would say).
I have a question, perhaps you've addressed it elsewhere, hopefully it's a simple answer. What 8-note scale do you recommend for the first chord in Body and Soul? It is an Ebm7, normally the ii is functionally the V7, so I might think Ab7, but the next chord is Bb7b9 back to Ebm7. Should I think of this as Gb sixth diminished which will have the Bdim7? Or something else entirely? Thanks!
nomen nescio I like to think Ab7 into Eb harmonic minor back into Ab7 into D7 (or one of its siblings) into Db major over those first few bars (Ebm7 Bb7b9 Ebm7 Ab7 Db6)

Awesome stuff man, keep it coming! Would love to see more applications over standard tunes and chord movements and also on static chords.
