Something that can make it easier is if you remove the lock. It makes the balance uneven between the handles and makes tricks more wonky. Also consider sanding the corners of the blade a little. It will still hurt but it might help a bit
I've been flipping for 2 years, and i know from experience, practicing becomes very stressful but once you get a trick down smoothly, there is no better feeling. Keep it up!(And btw picking up a good quality trainer goes a long way and i noticed you used squid industries tutorial to learn so i definitely recommend picking up a trainer from them)
I started with a razor sharp Bradley Kimura, i don't think i ever cut myself with it. I feel like practicing with a live blade slows your progress a bit because you're more cautious, but teaches you to respect the knife and make less mistakes. Prolly not great advice for most ppl tho

After being obsessed at 10 I’m now twelve and way more advanced and fell I could use a real one and just keep going and always keep this in mind not just for balisongs but everything always figrue out what’s wrong or walk through your steps repeatedly and try to fix it until mastered
There's a version of the full twirl with two hands that I'd recommend learning soon after learning the full twirl because it will be fresh in your mind, and the sooner you start two-handed tricks the better.
