  • Who is telling the truth? Hillsong leadership or Brian Houston? In this video, we contrast Phil Dooley and George Aghajanian's claims against Brian Houston's claims.
Did you watch to the end?
In late 2022, Brian Houston decided to say something contrary to what Phil Dooley and Global Hillsong Board Member, George Aghajanian reported to Hillsong leadership. Mr. Houston said that over ten years ago in the 2000s that he was dependent on pills, specifically sleeping pills.
However in a private meeting in March 2022, Phil Dooley reported that Brian Houston had a pill addiction in 2012. He mentioned anxiety pills in 2019 but forgot to mention the fact that from 2019-2012 Brian's main pill addiction between were mainly sleeping tablets (which is why he said the sleeping tablets contributed to his behaviour). Hillsong board member, George Aghajanian, was present in this private meeting. He also confirmed this to be true. Aghajanian said Brian was dependent on "sleeping tablets back there" between 2012 -2019 and that "we got him off those tablets."

By there fruits you will know them, by there deeds you can tell. I personally do not believe anything that comes out of the mouth of Hillsong, the lie and cover up to protect themselves and damage others in doing so! However, who is truly going to hold them accountable? For what they have done to so many people? This is shameful in so many 😞 ways! I pray the real truth comes out.

I know where you're coming from. I grew up going to Hillsong (ever since I was 12 years old) & used to volunteer in the internal venue safety. During that time I was a regular volunteer, I saw quite a bit of corruption within the organisation. In short terms, it came in the form of hypocrisy through victim blaming, self-righteousness & legalism. I also am currently learning to deal & get over the trauma I've experienced through my Hillsong years. I feel so liberated not being part of that movement anymore.

That's the part that really jumped out at me. I have no idea what Brian is complaining about when... he didn't say anything that contradicted the Hillsong narrative! He has no reason to complain because he wasn't misrepresented

Having listened to Brian and bits of what Hillsong board said, I don’t think that Brian committed any hanging offence compared to other men of God all over the world. Christianity is a daily battle with the enemy. Once in a while we trip but must repent. I believe that The Lord is redirecting Brian to a different path. Let’s watch, pray and see.

The only thing this proves is what was said many years ago. "The leading cause of atheism in the world today is Christians. Who confess Jesus with their mouth and deny Him with their lifestyle. This is what an unbelieving world finds unbelievable". The world is quite literally going to Hell in a handbasket and these loose Christians give them more fuel for their unbelief.

Thinking is the first act of worship. The church became experts in doing. They listen to their leaders rather than look for themselves. Leaders like Brian telling his followers to give up thinking and use more faith. No God here.

Brian has been seen at Hillsong smelling of alcohol by several of its members, I'd imagine he's been having more than one drink due to the stress he's on brought on by the court case..Both Brian&Board are basically saying the same thing🤔

Why would a Christian pastor even be drinking after Christian conference? The guy is lying thru his teeth. I bet he still drinks, still takes anxiety tablets etc.

There is a Australian Christian drinking culture that should be addressed in Christian churches. A celebration or birthday drink? Sure. But you are right. It is odd to be drinking in the middle of the week while running the biggest 'Christian' conferences in the world..

@@bennwaters5851 Agreed. But we try to see things from other people's perspectives. Hillsong leaders were probably 'celebrating' the big week. However, the fact that NONE recognised Brian Houston was intoxicated indicates they were all drunk.

It's extremely sad and very unjust that Brian Houston should be held accountable for the wrongs of his father, but it's sickening to see the vultures now circling around him, and fixing on one or two isolated and relatively minor incidents and exaggerating them to drag him down. Despite his failings (and who is without failings and flaws?) he has shown extraordinary leadeship and organisational skills in building up Hillsong and its affliated network. The pygmies who are dragging him down apparently hope to gain control over what they did not build up. The meek may inherit the earth, but it's a group of scheming nobodies who hope to inherit Hillsong.

I pray that the whole truth comes out because it is only the truth that heals and sets people free. I used to be fairly idealistic about church (organizations) but have come to realise that they have the same issues as wordly organizations. Famous biblical characters (e.g. King David) were far from perfect. Repentance is key to moving forward.

True - but how will or how are we to show love false shepherds and wolves in our pulpit? Is it not loving to call it out? Or is it more loving to say nothing? We admit, we could have already said things a bit better in our delivery on certain topics on this channel already. But the research involved in this stuff is pretty hard due to the nature of how spiritual leaders cover up terrible things in the name of God. We will try to love the best way forward in our videos. :)

Brian Houston might indeed not have a problem with drugs, or with alcohol, who really knows the truth of that? But perhaps he might better spend his time explaining his habitual lying and bullying. There are plenty who can attest to those and do it from first-hand experience. Still, since he uses the word "mistake" as a euphemism for "sin", it is clear his credibility is questionable when he makes any such declarations to his devotees.

Its really hard to judge who is rong and right.
But for one case i take brian to be right.
Hillsong made a big mistake to publish such stupid things on him
The only thing they could do is to to put him a side silently and after he reconciles with god, they then bring him back in leading the church.
They should have remembered that he is the founder of the church and do everything leavinv some respecg for him because even david continued respecting saul dispite the mistakes he did.
He waited until godtook him away.
I think they have somethings hidden behind this essue.

      Hi Timothy,
The reason why that meeting happened was because of distrust in Hillsong leadership and Hillsong board ranks. When Brian Houston and the board covered up Brian Houston's addictions and misconduct through announcements and public statements, those who were aware of the full story were slandered by Hillsong leadership. If it was not for those Hillsong elders, Houston's behaviour would have been concealed. And as a result of the growing awareness in Hillsong leadership, that private meeting Dooley led would not have happened. It was around this time Brian Houston resigned and Hillsong followed through with his resignation.
It is possible that Hillsong leadership, the Hillsong docuseries and the leaked private meeting all played a role in Brian leaving.
