Back in the 50s the most popular drugs we had back then, was Fast Cars and Hot Women. Beer!
They all congregated at night at McDonalds, I remember the first McD,s in my area.
19cent hamburgers.
I remember when the sign finally said One Million burgers sold. Dunkin Donuts, A&W Root Beer, Kentucky Fried Chicken. and many more. The parking lots and Dive in Movies were popular with Hot Rodders.
We taught Detroit how to build fast cars.
For that era my buddies had some awesome Hot Rods. There was no, after Market, we built everything by hand.
1950 Oldsmobile Rocket V8s were the popular Rod Engines. Junk yards could not find enough. They fit in a 47 Ford club coupe perfect.
Ask me how I know.
One friend had a custom 47 Chevy Fleetline OHV6 with actual Dual Exhausts and Dual Carbs. Like Ian does he fabricated both Manifolds.
That OHV6 sounded awesome.
Billy was 18 years old. Those were the good old days. Everybody respected, and helped each other build cars.
I found the Back from the Dead DVD. It's a good episode.
