What I like most is that it's making fun of ourselves, but it's not mean spirited, like Little Britain. Emery has a great deal of affection for these comic characters which the audience can't help but share. I tend to laugh with them at the absurdity of life.
My god Dick Emery was so funny, love watching these old sketches of him, good old days of comedy with no swearing, no nudity. Comedy nowadays is such rubbish, can't stop laughing at this sadly missed comedian, RIP Dick Emery gone but not forgotten.
Brilliant stuff, this really takes me back. We were so spoilt for comedy in this era Dick Emery, The Two Ronnies, Morecambe and Wise, Benny Hill etc. Look at the rubbish we have got now? Harry and Paul, Miller and Armstrong etc - I rest my case!
Great clip. Like Eric Sykes, Dick made it big by finding humour in the most simple things and achieved laughs without resorting to violence, spite or swearing.
Well Till Death Do Us Part, was broadcast during the 1960’s-1975 and one of the best comedies ever. So saying there where no comedy series during that period with no swearing and other item that where controversial is completely wrong!
i loved this at the time, I still laugh now but I also think there are lots of great comedians now too. Same as the music and football and everything else. What us old people are really pining for is our youth which of course, we will never get back so we get angry and hit out at the world.
God, haven't seen any of this since the Three day Week. And he's still funny and better than these uni educated twits that inhabit the comedy circuit today
@airscrew1 - These scenes where filmed in Ealing Broadway. I agree entirely with you regarding the joy of seeing classic cars and long forgotten shop fronts. When you get your time machines.....if there's room for one more.......could I possibly hitch a lift ?
How right you are! I do not bother to watch so called 'comedy' programmes these days, as you quite rightly said they are full of vulgarity and four letter words. They should take a look at the past masters of comedy, they made us laugh with nothing more than saucy innuendo expert timing and comedic skill - no four letter words - Oh those were the days.
@drotogmarsk It simply is classic telly! - which the BBC were famous for. It's a shame the comedians of today have not taken several 'leaves' from the Dick Emery training Academy. Thank You for your comments.
@TheLooneyPadre Yes. He did die relatively young, a great talent really sadly missed. It is a great shame the BBC do not realise the programmes they have of him could be shown now on BBC 4, and make a lot of people really happy.....
@HatfulofHollow65 I wholeheartedly agree with you. It would appear that TV 'comedy' these days is reliant on smutty innuendo and the "F" word for laughs. How times have changed, not for the better.
It's great yes!. In today's so called politically correct world - he wouldn't be able to get away with it... back thenh sheer genius, a great comic. Thanks for your comments.
@airscrew1 It certainly proves the point that "They don't make 'em like they used to" Dick made us all laugh without the need to use gratuitous amounts of swear words, Innuendo was quite enough!.

No he wasn't. He was born in England to English parents who served in the English army and lived all his life in England. He is known as one of the great English eccentrics as well as a comedian!

Wonder why they dont show comedys like that anymore..
Just pure laughter..such innocence..
No swearing..no insults..
No barriers..!
I didn't realise at the time how brilliant he was. Good that he lives on on YT.
Priceless comedy, Hillarious stuff, love it.
i grew up on this , that vicar always got me , and of course " you are awful . . .but i like you "

Absolutely brilliant, very funny man, so many different characters, remember him well 😂❤😂❤

The best..gone sadly but not forgotten by me.
Top funny man, and lovely man too!! x
Those were the days. Honest comedy for all. No swearing or vulgar talk. But most of all comedy that is FUNNY.
im 58 ,grew up with this and i couldnt agree more, the pc brigade of course would hammer this like they have with benny hill etc.

@@astronomer77things weren't hugely different back then. Remember Mary Whitehouse?

@Ray Zander yup, been using flixzone for since november myself =)
All filmed around Ealing Broadway
Before Blair ruined things.
Absolutely brilliant
Brilliant... Happy memories
He was on Saturday nights in the 1970s.

How I miss those times.
The days when we had real entertainment on the television and comedy.
And you are so right there too for sure.
superb.
"No I like doing people with things." Hilarious.
Can anybody recall the name of the gent that does the interviews. He is always so professional and so BBC !!!!!
How right you are!

I despise bad language. It degrades the person speaking it and those hearing it.
You are so right there too of course albeit alas.@marywilliams9858

Alas the BBC are aboard the PC bandwagon now.
Could it be I am seeing characters from At the busses, Have you been served ?...beautifull
@HatfulofHollow65
I wholeheartedly agree with you. It would appear that TV 'comedy' these days is reliant on smutty innuendo and the "F" word for laughs. How times have changed, not for the better.
Bloody funny
Gordon Clyde is the interviewer. A second cousin of mine. Lovely stuff.
IsbGiefon still alive?
I like doing people with things. I want a guy like him to be my bidyguard.
Did he have other shows ? I like his english accent and his voice...
British comedy is not for everyone. I am not a brit, but find it very funny. My wife thinks I am off my hinges.
Best ever.
So funny! Some of the characters were more popular than others and made more appearences. I don't remember the girl guide at all.
Nor do I too.
"Excuse me Madam" - "Miss" poor Hettie

He was Irish. They are a very witty, funny people. Also unfortunately, there is a lot of depression in some too.
What makes you think he was Irish?
Dick was a Londoner !
No he wasn't. He was born in England to English parents who served in the English army and lived all his life in England. He is known as one of the great English eccentrics as well as a comedian!
