- Meet Lena the 65 year old skateboarder.
Lena Salmi from Helsinki skateboards, takes acrobatic classes and loves graffiti art. She’s living proof that age is just a number. At 61, Lena swapped her cycle for a skateboard and began to enjoy her city in a unique new way.
Her enthusiasm for her favourite sport has inspired people around the world, and these days she teaches young and old how to skateboard, encouraging everyone just to have fun.

Been skating for 12 years onf and off when life and other goals dont get in the way despite not really learning much new stuff it still feels good just to do what i already know but likr eay better

Alyson Richard exactly, im 28 and iv just started inline skating.
I feel like everyone stares at me and laughs because they see a woman skating (not very well)
But iv learned not to care and just enjoy myself and try and get better.
I think people worry what other people are going to think too much

Lena Salmi you are a hero, in every sense of the word & if more people shared your outlook on life we would all have a far better one.
I would love to just sit with her and ask a few questions. This lady has some secrets on growing old.
The secret is not stopping at doing what you love and if you do, find something else.

What a sweet lady. You just want to give her a hug. I'm 40 and have been skating for the last 35 years, I hope I'll still be on my board in my 60's.

I'm 37 - felt like I was too old to skateboard, but bought on vacation on a whim. I learned how to skateboard in a hotel parking garage. I sprained my ankle (skateboarding) the day before left. Let me tell you, it was not fun trying to get around 3 airports on a sprained ankle. You don't heal as fast as a young person, either. I didn't let this deter me, though. I'm back on the skateboard riding down the street. It was hard to get back on again. I was so scared at first, but it's the most amazing feeling! I wish I had the courage to try more things when I was younger!
This women is amazing she is doing two of my favorite things at age 61 skateboarding and spray painting what a legend
Good for her. Never stop living. The people in nursing homes stopped living, body atrophied, sickness set in, followed by misery and acceptance. If you enjoy working into retirement years, do that! If you want to take on a new hobby go for it! 😁 getting old doesn't have to suck.

I think the video is about her picking up skateboarding at the age of 61 and the fact that she is a woman is interesting as well.

Good for Lena! I taught myself to longboard in my 40s and I have found it to be very life-enriching. It's rewarding to be able to hang out with my kid who has learned to skateboard as well. I think older people should give it a try if they are physically able; it's a very pleasant form of exercise. Take care, all!

I’m a surfer and was away from the ocean for 2 years and got a surf/skate board and I was having so much fun in a little town skating in a empty lot. They called Secutity on me and I stoped skating! I’m now back in the ocean and still want to skate I’m 42

lucky, i was practicing riding my skateboard that i fell hard. I didnt bail fast enough on a small friggin hill, so my lowerback hit the pavement first, like cracked (i heard a crunch) and currently im at a week that my lower back still hurts. I cant do a proper ollie and it pisses me off bc i wanted to skate so bad and now i cant WTFF
